This is only true if we are talking about men. For women, the only requirements necessary to be swamped with messages and men willing to buy them dinner are

(1) Don't be fat.

(3) Don't be older than 35.

On the other hand, only men who have actually stepped from the covers of fashion magazines can use online dating with any success without adopting a spam mentality and method.

Not saying anything we don't already know, but it surprises me how true this is these days. I've been on and off various online dating sites, swipe apps etc for the past ~10 years, as have a couple of my close pals, and the past year or two have seen a huge drop-off in responsiveness and seriousness. Definitely used to be an above-average (read: decently masculine and game-aware) guy could expect some results online as part of a multiple-income-stream dating strategy.

I know the forum has had some differing opinions on online sites over the years, but they really seem to have categorically devolved into online versions of club game...in some cases worse, as men can't flex some of their attraction markers like stature and boldness, and there's no time for banter before chicks move on to the next swipe.

From a different perspective though, great marketing and innovation...chicks are swiping on these things constantly while simultaneous complaining (and writing articles) about how all the guys they meet on the apps are jerks.

If a man is feeling too confident or having too productive of a day, there is no better solution than swiping on Bumble for 15 minutes.

Nothing makes me feel worse than swiping right 300 times only to match with 5 fat chicks, all of who start the convo with the same incredibly lazy "Hey."

It's just not an accurate depiction of real life for a half decent man who is willing to approach.

Totally true. I used to hop on the swipe apps before going to bed, and found it a good way to kill my good mood from the day and give myself some bedtime anxiety. You gotta control your habits to control your happiness, and things like "don't do a soul-crushing exercise" is a habit you gotta be disciplined about.
