2k for a studio... See I can't even justify that at this time in my life. There are 2 bedroom in Texas for 1k.... I can get a roommate and pay $500 a month... And since I work in sales my income isn't so tied to the city/region I'm in. Yes I need to be in a major city but since my full earnings is based on commission I can potentially make 6 figures in different parts of the country.

But then again it's a lifestyle trade off. Pay to play.

I'd pick NYC and I'd gladly pay the premium.

People say the city is expensive but nowhere else in the US have I found snatch to be as cheap. Netflix and Seamless is a legitimate date if you have a Manhattan apartment.

The city is also unbeatable for quick getaways, a 3h drive for great skiing/yachting/sunbathing or go even bigger and you have some of the best international flight options in the world at your doorstep.

This is of course assuming you're a young buck without attachment, which isn't me anymore. But I doubt my advice for how to pick a suburb house that makes a great locale for a family wont reach quite the same audience here.

Is your studio in Harlem? How did you find 2k studio in Manhattan? I was paying $3200 in Soho almost 10 years ago. I think you need 150k to live comfortably in Manhattan. I mean, you go to average restaurant in NYC with 2 people and it's around $120-150. Bottle of wine is minimum $50 wherever you go.

As you know, many people don't cook at home in Manhattan. I was spending easily $10k including rent in Manhattan when I was living there.

Plenty of bars and clubs, even in NYC, are free. Heck, Jay-Z's 40/40 Club is free. The only thing that DEFINITELY costs money is alcohol but I personally don't drink. Tastes like krap and is a waste of money IMO.

Heck, even on my dates in NYC and Chicago, I didn't spend a penny, yet still got pulls on a fairly consistently basis. Just took 'em to the park.

Yeah, man. That has to be Harlem or The Upper Westside or Inwood or Washington Heights. Somewhere way north. Heck, some studios in Harlem are 2.5k/month, which blows my mind!

This year a friend of mine moved into a small but liveable 1 bedroom on the UES for $1800/month. It's one block away from the Q train, 15 minutes to get to Union Square. So relatively decent deals can still be had.

San Diego hands down, absolute no brainer.

• Best weather in the USA
• Somewhat high rent but still reasonable cost of living
• Excellent food and restaurants
• Lots of cute girls that are more accessible and less bitchy then LA/SF or even NYC, many of them attending the local universities.
• Better dating logistics then LA/SF or even NYC (from one side of town to the other is 15-30 minutes max)
• Good air quality
• Current hotspot for digital marketing and ecommerce owners, good for networking
• Tons of good business conferences roll through San Diego
• Dirt cheap domestic flights to anywhere in Mexico with interjet or volaris via Tijuana airport and CBX border crossing
• Fantastic high quality cheap weed
• Good concerts, cultural activities etc
• Great beaches
• Good surf both in town and Baja California easily accessible too for weekend trips.
• Huge community of entrepreneurs and people I already know living there
• Less "fake" then other big cities in California (though the Cally fakeness is still present in San Diego, its not nearly as bad as LA)
  

Only downside is I would have to pay more taxes again as a US resident, I'm really over American women, a higher cost of living. I hate being a short man in a country of taller women. American culture is just also kind of boring to me. But if I had to choose a city it would be San Diego, and I wouldn't be shedding any tears if someone "forced" me to live there.

2nd and 3rd place would be metro Denver or Austin, anywhere else I couldn't even remotely consider. San Diego is great but Mexico City beats out San Diego in most categories, especially dating and cost of living (2 really important aspects IMO)

p.s. Fuck NYC freezing ass cold, standoffish culture and people, outrageous cost of living, smelly and dirty with roaches and rats everywhere gross, etc most overrated place in the entire planet except maybe London.

Man Diego definitely is scenic and offers a high quality of life but it’s a sprawling, driving city that is definitely not logistically strong at all...my wing and I had to constantly get on the highway to hit our next spot. Outside of the Gassy Lamp district, SD was not walkable at all. The ratios also were pretty bad.

Rule #1: If you need a car then it’s not a real city, just a collection of disjointed suburbs.

I'm living in Denver and I like it a lot here. Great weather, fitness culture, the mountains, microbreweries, decent size etc. If I had to live in another city, I might choose Boston. It has a very educated population and the ratio of younger people to older people is very high from what I know.

My experience in San Diego is all from 3 to 7 day trips, almost always staying in nice hotels near Gaslamp so I guess i'm biased but the places I went were never sausage parties, though most the time they were private parties. The dudes I met all looked kinda beta and lame so even when ratio was bad it didn't appear to be that hard to pickup in Gaslamp.

TBH I never did bang but it was really more a time issue more then anything if i'm in San Diego, I am busy AF doing shit.

If I lived there rather then dealing with local dating market I would just import a local big bootied latina that has a visa from the other size of the border. If I got frustrated I would head over the border get an airbnb in Tijuana for a few days and throw up tinder and fuck till my dick fell off or just fly down to CDMX. NYC if you can afford it. Brooklyn/Queens is aight, but it's a big tease knowing Manhattan is so close.

I've always fancied living in the Twin Cities for some reason; I'm sure it'd get boring pretty quick.

I'd also consider Atlanta, San Diego, Philly and Chicago.


Most places seem like a deal price wise when compared to NYC though. North Western United States and New England are rip offs price wise though.
