This whole episode reminds us of a few things.
1. The Romans held actors and the rest of the entertainment industry in disdain, little better than slaves. This is why the Emperor Nero was so widely hated as his reign went on. It was seen as a disgrace to Rome that the emperor was performing on stage. As in so many things, we can't be sure that the Romans were wrong about this.
2. It goes back to what Cicero said in On Duties - behavior that seems expedient can never conflict with what is morally right, because this behavior always comes back to haunt you in the end. No matter how much wealth or power you have, you aren't immune from these forces that seem to come from nature. In fact, with power, wealth, and fame means you need to be more careful, because you'll have enemies that will rush to see you fall. It also brings up what Louis XIV wrote in his memoirs: "a sovereign can never live too wisely or too innocently. It is not enough to provide for general affairs, but you must regulate your own morals."
3. "Social justice" ideology and victimhood boosting is about enforcing control over what Thomas Sowell calls "the benighted masses." It was never actually about what they say it's about.
And I'd normally be skeptical about these cases in today's climate, but we have this slobbering hog on tape doing what he's doing, so he's fucked. A great day for us. I agree with what Tucker Carlson said last night. Let's have a full federal investigation into the way Hollywood treats its people, especially the up and coming actors. With any luck we'll expose the sexual depravity and, with a bit more pushing, the pedophile rings so that we can bring the whole damn temple crashing down on their unworthy, disgraceful heads. Trump and Sessions should use this opportunity to act, right now.

How can the media obtain the tape of a police matter, which never went to court because it was dropped for insufficient evidence, just to embarrass someone? We should all be wary when the police/DA violate the rule of law just to jump on the bandwagon against the pariah of the moment.
The right should be careful what they wish for, too. As much as we can delight in the schadenfreude (and I do), we must remember that the "sexual harassment" cudgel is usually turned against corporate/Republican men like, um, if I recall recently, President Trump. I agree with all those on this forum who decry the tactics even if we have little sympathy for this particular defendant.
Speaking of President Trump, I think part of the strategy here will be to drag him into it. It won't be long before we start seeing the articles about the equivalence between him and Weinstein --- look, Trump skated while Weinstein was ruined! See how much more principle we have on the left! Trump and Weinstein did the exact same thing [sic]!! Also, I foresee the day when all of the results when you Google "Harvey Weinstein images" will be ones where he is with Donald Trump.

Trump is never on tape doing any of this. The tape that Tucker aired last night (I'm not sure if it's the same one you're referring to) is crystal clear that this guy is a scumbag who's not engaging in seduction, but harassment. There is no debating this. Maybe it's not enough for a conviction, but it's enough that no one should be defending him. The woman was very clearly unwilling.
Easy C said it best, this guy wasn't doing any game because the women involved felt nothing but revulsion, and you can hear that revulsion on the tape. I hope the IRS comes down hard on his ass for his illegal tax activities. Writing off his hush money as a business expense - there's a tax break for the rich if I've ever seen one!
