If the husband knew she was gravitating back to Carrey, he's a preposterously stupid moron for even approaching the funeral, let alone helping to arrange it.

FFS, I can understand guys being beaten out by higher SMV guys like Carrey and technically cucked, yet this guy went one hundred steps further and turned a cucking into a cuck festival at his own expense.

There's no need to be a dick to her family and he could certainly have expressed his condolences to them. Going to and planning the funeral is simply horrendous, though.

Carrey's lawyer Raymond Boucher had asked Los Angeles Superior Court to strike out the case.

But Judge Deirdre Hill ruled that Carrey should face a jury over the claims of wrongful death and allegations under the Drug Dealer Liability Act.
She also ruled against Carrey's privacy request and said the jury should hear medical evidence regarding claims that he gave Ms White three sexually transmitted diseases. 
Court documents detailed texts between the pair, in which White said she was concerned about STDs, and Carrey sought to reassure her.
White, who began dating The Mask actor in 2012, contracted both herpes and chlamydia in 2013.
Carrey reportedly dismissed claims that he transmitted them to her and said she had contracted them from someone else.
Following the confrontation, the pair broke up, with Carrey sending her a text message saying: 'You have become too much drama.' 

Text messages show Cathriona had discussed concerns about contracting STDs from the actor, but Carrey appears to dismiss the claims that she got them from him and says she may have contracted the diseases from someone else

A letter from White was also shown, in which she told Carrey she felt she had been 'disrespected, degraded, called a w***e, an opportunist, threatened.'
She continued: 'I will always be damaged goods, have a stigma attached.'

White wrote a letter to Carrey claiming he called her a 'whore' and an 'opportunist' when she confronted him about the STDs
Mr Boucher denied that Carrey would now attempt to settle the case, adding: 'We are preparing for trial.' 
Carrey also dropped a request for Ms Sweetman to put a bond of 372,000 dollars (£290,000) aside to go towards the comedian's costs if he is successful in fending off the case.
Mr Boucher wrote to the court asking for the request to be dismissed on the basis that Ms Sweetman lacks the means to pay and is ill.
Ms White, from Cappawhite, Co Tipperary, was found dead in her Los Angeles home in September 2015.
Canadian-born Carrey previously dismissed the allegations as 'malicious' and 'predatory'.
The 20-day trial is due to begin on April 26.

He may be sketchy but it is unlikely he gave her the drugs unless they have proof, she could easily have raided his prescribed medication without his knowledge . Just because she killed herself does not mean he should be dragged into court over some bullshit. I feel sorry for her family but I do not get how this is Jim's fault.

The summary posted by heavy seems to spell things out. The parents are looking for money to cash in on their daughter's tragedy, and want to smear Carrey to do it. The question was asked if he would just settle, which I think is exactly what the parents were hoping for. He's fighting, and he also demanded they put forth a bond for the money he will spend to defend himself, so when he wins, they pay for his legal expenses.

It's sad their daughter was mentally unstable and suicidal just because the guy she was dating broke up with her. However, that doesn't mean he now owes her parents some kind of sick ambulance chasing payout.

Fortunately, they're all liberals, so this is just left on left infighting.

"Heavy" and other industry outlets are going to side with the Hollywood establishment, the same way most of the MSM sides with Woody Allen or Roman Polanski.

I'm not saying that Carrey has killed her or pushed her to kill herself, but he's definitely capable of this, and him being a star who's totally lined up with the Hollywood ethos and deeply steeped into the occult, it could have been covered up. Some kind of foul play or nefarious scheming by him shouldn't be automatically dismissed.

Nothing will come out of this lawsuit except legal fees for Jim's lawyers. The causation is too difficult to prove- is she entitled to a relationship with him under threat of suicide? How does he exit a relationship that is already "on again, off again" without liability when dealing with a mentally unstable woman?- Note- this is a married woman killing herself over her boyfriend who dumped her-A married woman who's husband is suing the boyfriend, what the fuck?

This isn't an automatic dismissal. Didn't she commit suicide almost 2 years ago? It seems like they would have found some foul play, oh I don't know, within a few days of her death.

I actually hadn't thought of the cash grab theory when I posted the story. My brain must have been in naivete mode. That does seem highly likely, however, given the everything in that news story.

I mean, it's not like they're going after him for any type of murder, or new evidence or anything. They're trying to get him on using his 'wealth, influence and celebrity status' to provide the prescription drugs.

Seems like if he can avoid any sniff of foul play for 2 years, it's not likely he'll be found guilty (cue the Cosby story). This just wastes judges time and makes lawyers money. It's not tough to imagine both Cosby and Carrey's lawyers weren't too upset when judicial proceedings started to rumble.

I think they are trying to paint the picture that he helped her get her prescription drugs. Seriously is that so hard to get in our times?

I think that it is mostly money and the bigger scandal is that the judge allowed the lawsuit to go forward.

They are after Jim Carrey's cash and maybe even want a settlement.

Even with my admittedly pessimistic view of things, I never thought when reading the first page that this could ever go to court in this way. She killed herself. As Atlanta Man rightly said, there just is no link between cause and effect for JC to be anywhere near on the hook for this. And Zel is completely correct when he says that this would be laughed out of court anywhere else. Except maybe UK, and that's only a speculative maybe based on a recent trip there.

I don't have sympathy for this girl. She cheated on her husband with no regard for him whatsoever; it's only for JC that the long, heartfelt letter came out. This is just one cuck amongst millions; he did not even register in her plans such that she dated JC while still married.

As far as motivation goes I don't rule out alpha widow but I also think it could be that her elaborate construction of her Hollywood elite famous lifestyle by proxy of JC had obviously come to a sudden halt due to the breakup. She had pictures of private jets, fancy restaurants, mansions on her IG and JC was the one who paid for that obviously. She was extremely ambitious but the more extreme the goal, the less likelihood of it coming true. For example, maybe she desired to become as famous and rich as an A-List celebrity actress and model in her own right. As she nears 30 and it begins to dawn that this is very unlikely to happen, she lives the lifestyle similar to that of such a high status celebrity by working out and using her vagina. She is hitting the wall, her mother calls her a failure, her celebrity lifestyle has ended due to the breakup; she can't go back to small town Ireland now, she has seen too much. She would rather kill herself than go back to her shitty little town to perform some job she classes as beneath her. And so she does. That's not JC's fault.

He has been doing only 2 small indie movies in the last 2 years, so who knows.
In our world it is enough to piss off one big shot. Mel Gibson could even rant about Jews and blacks and got back. But maybe there is another group out there you absolutely cannot talk about - at least not with enough fame behind him.

But we will see - when he gets actual prison time I will actually assume that it was real payback. He may have become more or less blacklisted from Hollywood now.

This just happened to a good friend of mine. Like JC, hes a super charismatic guy that everyone absolutely loves and has never had any beef with anyone. The guy is literally the center of our group of friends. When he told me the story, he was devastated and I was sad for him, but after I thought about it for a few I came to the realization that she probably hated herself so much that she wanted to take him down with her. That she targeted him to do this to. Its only my hunch, and I can't obviously tell him this.
