She tried to commit suicide in 2012 the first time, when her father passed away. Incidentally, that is also the year she had her first break up with Carrey.

Somehow she managed to pull through, and married a cameraman with whom she tried to get into the big leagues by making stupid short films. Being unhappy with her lot, perhaps because her husband's life did not compare to Carrey's glamorous career as well as the opportunities that came with it, she tried to get back with him. When he agreed she started divorce proceedings with her cuck of a husband.

Somewhere during this time frame she also joined Scientology, probably in another attempt to become famous and a movie star. Scientology is very expensive to get into though, so either they gave her a discount in the hopes they would cash in if she became a star, or someone else was paying for it.

Oh and that final message from her mother probably did not help; instead of supporting her daughter morally, she branded her a failure after her split with Carrey.

As a practical matter, I knew a shrink who said he didn't accept patients who had had suicide attempts, because they were 70 times (7000% ) more likely than an average person to successfully suicide.

The fact a girl has an attempt history can be a red flag I guess if you want to avoid having memories of something like this.

Maybe I am being a dick, but why would the husband go through all the effort of burial of woman cheating on him (sort of they were getting a divorce) and basically used him. The only thing maybe is they got married for her to have a green card to stay in the us. So maybe he was just a friend. Or just a total pussy.

But the green card option is also weird because she was getting divorced too soon it seems. Isn't it at least 2 years?

It normally is unless you claim 'rape culture' grounds like you were abuse, financially held hostage etc. etc. all of which caused you to leave the marriage or get divorced before the 2 years were up.

This is all from a lawsuit filed by the ex husband claiming that the STDs are why she committed suicide and Jim should have to pay him.

Apparently, Jim infected Cat with Herpes and Gonorrhea. He was paying for everything for her and getting her work in Hollywood. She saw the gravy train ending so she was using the STDs to extort more money/favors. Finally, she references an "agreement" between them she was supposed to sign. I'm guessing it was some kind of hush money agreement.

Even with that concession on his part, she was still ratcheting up the drama. Claiming she could never have a relationship again because of Herpes - even though she was already married. Cancelling the photo shoot without warning - something that will get you blacklisted. It sounds like Jim just had enough and ghosted her.

Going back to my earlier comments, I think this had nothing to do with Jim, he was just the dude paying her. She saw the bags of money leaving her life and snapped. I still think drugs were involved too.
