Some chem engineer buddies of mine worked pretty hard to get their degrees, and were rather justifiably proud of the work they put in...

But you would have no cause whatsoever to be proud of a degree from Florida Memorial University, which appears to be a scam to separate poor blacks from their money. According to Forbes, it's the 6th worst college in the entire United States for return on investment. Over a 30 year period, you'll make a 110,000$ less than if you'd never bothered to go to college at all.

The people giving Martin this honorary degree are sleazy, scummy people who plunge poor, hopeful black kids into an abyss of debt they'll never escape from. It doesn't surprise me that they'd do a publicity stunt like this.

It's fascinating how black political activists seem to choose the most questionable characters to lionize and galvanize their movement around. God knows plenty of young black men get murdered without pounding a guy's head into the pavement, robbing a convenience store (Michael Brown), etc. You'd think any one of them would make a better face of the movement than these budding violent criminals. I disagree totally with Atlanta Man and the idea that this is not virtue signaling, but how in the heck could any pro-Zimmerman people be against this?

Granting a "degree" to him just shows how farcical elevating Trayvon has become, starting from already farcical levels.

Giving the living indoctrination and degrees in Victimhood Studies, and the Social Stories degrees (Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, etc.) is far more egregious than granting the deceased honorary degrees.

1. I didn't say that I am "so smart" or that I have a masters degree. You must have imagined these things. You don't have to be especially smart to have a masters degree btw. The point of my post was that since so many people today think they deserve university education - a bachelors degree exists to satisfy this demand without actually giving finished education. There was a time when there was no such thing as a bachelor's degree - it got popular when education was devolved because everybody sent their child to university, even if it was not useful and people just started to want degrees. A bachelor's degree doesn't really give the abilities of certification and employment Masters does in most countries I know and it exist's only to provide a sense of accomplishment and a nominal university education without any real benefits. This is something many people know but don't say out loud - sorry for pointing it out on a red pill forum - I kinda figured this could be a good place for pointing out things that are usually somewhat taboo to say - but I was probably wrong. Stupid me. I cannot be as smart as Kona with his perfect grammar. It appears grammar is more important then the message. Perfect grammar - not the idea - that is the sign of intellect and worthiness as a human individual. So should it be. Thank you for reminding me that Kona.

2.If I have spelling errors because I have bad spellcheck on this browser and I don't care about things like perfect spelling. And English is not my native language. This is a good point--bachelor's degrees are frequently watered down. The only consistently rigorous majors are something like Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, and Engineering (not an exhaustive list, and NADALT [Not All Departments are Like That]).

Majors like Biology and Chemistry can be tough, but that's more busy work and memorizing stuff.

Even more quantitative subjects like Statistics, Finance, and Economics (to use some examples) are not immune--"real"* Statistics, Finance, and Economics generally are not encountered until graduate coursework.

On a good day the average Statistics, Finance, or Economics undergraduate major from Podunk U. might be able to paste some code into Stata, Matlab, or R to "make it run," but have only a tenuous grasp of the basics of their major.

*I acknowledge this is a No True Scotsman, hence the quotes, but it gets the point across.

This forum used to ban people for writing like you do, back in the olden days. Standards have relaxed a little, but you should still make the effort to improve your spelling, and if not, accept that other people are going to laugh at you and make jokes at your expense.

Also, I'm not sure how it works in your native tongue, but in English if you say "I don't care" three times, it makes it seem like you really, really do care, and are just pretending that you don't. You should avoid that in the future.

There is a far more serious issue here. I don't think any community is at fault for this. They are being 100% manipulated by the controllers of the MSM to push an agenda. That's why I posted previously and urge you to watch videos of Zimmerman. He is not only innocent but a humble moral person. You get that when you listen to him talk. The media lied about him right from the beginning, deliberately falsifying his 911 call. The state government spent millions of dollars to convict him, and the federal government millions more to bring a charge. Who can survive that kind of scrutiny? This whole Trayvon saga must have started before I was a member here. Obviously there was some measure of disagreement about the issue.

In any case, ALL honorary degrees are fucking stupid. I can think of maybe a bare handful of scenarios where they make sense, and for damn sure this situation doesn't qualify.

But I agree that it's hilarious and should absolutely go even further in this case so that in short order we can refer to him as as "Reverend Professor Trayvon MD."

Some of it's bad information. The black community isn't exactly watching hour long Stephan Molyneux specials going over the case in depth. On top of this, you add in epistemic closure: If YOU were a black guy in a room with Atlanta Man and ten of his buddies, all of whom were talking about how Trayvon Martin was lynched, would you want to be the one who brought up the fact that witnesses saw him pounding Zimmerman's head into the concrete? How well do you think it would go if you tried to explain the finer points of self-defense law? Would you even bother? I wouldn't. So a lot of them probably just don't know the facts.

Another issue is that the black community went all-in for Trayvon in the early days of the case, when CNN and other outlets were pushing the "Zimmerman is a racist who said the word nigger" narrative really hard. When you get that emotionally invested in something, it's really, really hard to climb down, particularly when that something speaks to your deepest beliefs about the world. This is a very human failing, not one specific to black people. There's a story in... I want to say it was Caldini's "Influence"... about what happened to a certain cult that believed the apocalypse was going to come at midnight on April 1st. When the sun came up on April 2nd, did they all abandon their beliefs and go back home? No, they started believing even harder, and coming up with more and more rationalizations to justify why everything was really just the way they believed. People, all people, don't want to admit they're wrong about things they're strongly invested in.

An example might illustrate the point: Imagine tomorrow incontrovertible evidence came out that illegal immigrants were the only thing keeping the US economy from crashing to third world levels, and that Donald Trump was a spy sent by Russia to destroy our economy by removing the illegals. Do you think you (Or at least, the average member of this board, I'm not sure where your individual views lie) would suddenly switch from Republican to democrat, throw out the Trump shirts, put on a pussy hat and join an "I'm with Her" march? Or would you try and prove, somehow, that the evidence was wrong? I think that's something similar to what the black community is seeing with Trayvon Martin.

It's a shame that Atlanta Man's not here, because as he never fails to remind us, he's an extremely highly educated individual, and he might have some good insights. But he's headed off for the game forum, so here are my thoughts instead, unless any other blacks want to chime in.

I really doubt the rules were ever as draconian but if they were I am glad this has been lifted.
I have 1,719 posts as I write this and nobody has really attacked me on spelling before, except one time when I accidentally wrote "alfa" (like in my language) in stead of "alpha" and for some reason it caused a huge commotion. So I doubt my spelling is really that bad and unreadable. I suspect it is more like an excuse for assholes to attack people when they generally dislike the post or misunderstand it. If so then they should address and argue the content of the post not the spelling. I suppose in this case Kona somehow interpreted my post as bragging, which was not the case. It is very unfortunate he choose to attack my spelling instead.
