In the Boston area Bumble women are alphas, at least in my 36+ age bracket. What I mean by alpha is they are HB8+ 1%ers, like spa owners, equestrians, high priced yoga instructors, etc... They're in shape, mostly blonde (bleached or otherwise), fashion-plates, world-travelers, disconnected from everyday concerns. You might as well be swiping against a Victora's Secret catalog as far as the disconnect between the desire to date them and the likelihood of it happening.

Bumble is for yuppies and CEOs and POF and OKCupid is for the plebes. The best overall mix of women is still to be had on Match. There are a lot of women on Match who will NOT use anything else, whereas the free sites (POF/OKCupid/Tinder/Bumble) tends to have a lot of overlap. So if you don't pay up for Match you're not really getting exposed to the entire online dating demographic.

Although not as many as OKC or Tinder, I've banged some Bumble chicks in my time. Talent is solid but I haven't had the level of expected or desired success. A lot of matches- but girls don't always initiate (the only caveat unfortunately). The extended match functionality has secured me some girls open. Girls tend to fade (even after grabbing number). Like all 'dating' apps- you have to build comfort and act fast.

Just downloaded Bumble today, maybe about 6 hours ago. So far 5 matches, one of which messaged me "Hi" about 30 minutes ago and now we are chatting.

I use tinder and had tinder plus up until a week ago. The best day I ever had in terms of matches on tinder (I'm in Houston) would be 2 or possibly 3 matches, not including bots/girls that never respond/uggos/fatties. Actually I'd be happy to get 1 decent match a day on tinder.

I've been using tinder for nearly a year now and have been on dates with 3 girls, had sex with two on the first meet, and talked without it going anywhere with several.

Anyone else notice the shenanigans Bumble plays with the girls they show you? I'll get a string of hot chicks, almost none of them below an 8 (usually the first slate of girls shown when I first open the app), then it'll get to a point where the little yellow hourglass/spinner thing will appear as if it's searching for more matches, and then like a lightswitch it'll serve up long series of average-to-well-below-average girls. This pattern repeats itself like clockwork...I can call it every time: the moment I get the yellow spinner, the quality nosedives. They're definitely playing games with the matches. The hot girls shown I don't think are completely fake profiles: they're located in my city, and I can often find their social media profiles. My guess is that Bumble's using real profiles of hot girls in my city who have either (i) at one time had Bumble profiles but no longer do; or (ii) don't have my location/age-range in their filters. Aka, I think I'm being shown their profile, but they're never seeing mine. I don't think I've ever matched with one of the initial-slate hot girls.

From what I've read, it's a self-reinforcing popularity-contest.

In other words, women who get right-swiped the most get shown first. Since Bumble's like Tinder in being a superficial meat-market, that means the hottest chicks. The upside if you have high standards is you can just swipe the hottest and when it hits your SMV limit, just put the app away for a while without worrying you're missing anything. The downside is the self-reinforcing nature.

I don't know how the algorithm factors in new members. If it's just a popularity contest then it will be heavily skewed in favor of incumbents who have already been there for a long time and racked up a lot of right-swipes. But one can infer that if you are new and/or not SMV 8+ you are going to be put onto the back of the bus.

I mean, if you're not hot enough, you're unlikely to be right-swiped no matter how often you get shown, but a low chance is better than a no-chance (when being put at the back).

I use this app the most because tinder stopped working. I think something new needs to pop up because I don't meet anybody on these dating apps anymore. I spend more time going to professional networking events and cold approach till I run out of breath or the events are over. This app continuously delivers the same broads over and over any time I bring my gps back to DC. It's beginning to show me plenty of prior left swipes from NYC if that tells you anything. Most of these profiles say hey or hey there or hi. No substance. As soon as I press for a meet or ask a question, ghost. Go outside.

I'm hearing the new "Hinge" is the thing to control attention whoring by chicks, supposedly they can only interact with one match at a time. They have to drop the match to move to the next. This does work in favor of those looking for relationship material I would think.

Yup, definitely some sort of algorithm trickery going on here. I see the same thing. Most have professional third party pictures which I believe is a sign that the profiles are fake.

I find this genuinely hilarious. We shouldn't be bitter or mad about this though. I'll play devil's advocate for a brief moment here:

(1) - It's generally not the woman's "job" to initiate. It goes against social (and possibly ingrained biological) roles. I know this app is suppose to flip the script on that, but nature always finds a way I suppose.
