My trolling detector is broken. Santa Fe is where a lot of the best corporate jobs are, so anyone sent here on business could very well end up there. Expensive, not very 'Mexican' in character, and a bit hard to get to. When I was new in town, I paid a taxi driver to give me a tour of Santa Fe, since a lot of well-meaning but misguided Mexicans had told me I'd be happy living there. It's their futuristic image of what life in the US must be like.

As for Roma/Condesa: I think if I could have found a decently priced 1br on AirBnB, I'd have stayed west of Orizaba and east of Insurgentes. I'm not sure any exist.

Where I live isn't so bad. It's a 10 min walk west to get Orizaba, but a bit further to Condesa, so I'd have to take a bus or Uber. But the buses here are quick.

The prettier women I see are on Orizaba, or walking around in Condesa. Even in Condesa, I don't know actually how many women were walking. Low street volumes in La Roma and Condesa and the large number of 4's here, means street daygame is far more difficult.

I think Juarez, just north of Roma, could be cool too. More apartments. If I come back here again, I might live there.



So in conclusion:

I think if you're 10 minutes by Uber from the main nightlife areas on Tamaulipas and Oaxaca, which everything on the map is (and more)...

you have nothing to worry about.

Besides Telcel, the other major providers are Movistar and AT&T/Iusacell. They may have slightly better packages.

Speed? Are you streaming video or something?

There are a few deadspots (with all of the providers, as far as I know), but that's rare in the city. And also random moments with no service, maybe once a month. That's been my experience with Telcel, anyway.

Their offers change frequently (and a lot of what you'll find online is out of date), so I can't recommend specific options here, but right now I pay about $5 USD for a pre-pay package of three weeks of unlimited calls to the US and within Mexico (cell phones and landlines). This includes unlimited WhatsApp/Twitter/texting plus 300MB of data. I've never run out of data but you could, depending on what apps you use.

The average Mexican is at least somewhat politically incorrect when it comes to race, but feminism (an elite movement) is gaining ground and there are do-gooders in the Mexico City government with a definite SJW/feminist agenda.

Here's a public service campaign that is not exactly resonating with the public. Over a million views this week, with many negative comments and more thumbs down than thumbs up. To raise awareness about sexual violence in the metro system, they altered one of the seats to look like a naked man, including his penis, to film the 'reactions' of the passengers.

The hilarious part is that the 'passengers' here are obviously actors and models and bear little resemblance to the actual people who regularly take the metro. Especially non-convincing are the gay guys who look disgusted as they 'accidentally' sit down on the seat.

Women already have two metro cars reserved just for them on each train. And in the steerage cars, they often take up extra space when putting on makeup. No mainspreading going on here but plenty of victimhood posturing by people who don't even take the metro.

There's no Spanish audio, just video, so you can understand it even if you don't speak Spanish.

Speaking of the subways, one thing that I haven't really seen mentioned too much (if at all), is the fact that CDMX subways have different areas for exiting and entering stations. Being used to the New York subways, I had accidentally exited through turnstiles that were only meant for subway entrants (at Insurgentes I think), and a police officer immediately went near me with a scanner and said some stuff in Spanish. I was confused and I suppose he took me for a visiting foreigner (which I was) because he just let me continue without a problem. That's just something to be aware of if visiting for the first time.

The main chains are SmartFit, Sports World and Sports City (upscale). Energy Fitness is another. Some of these might not accept walk-ins, though. Traditional neighborhoods will often have small, independent gyms with limited hours.

Last week at my gym, I counted 20 people in the free weight area, 30 doing machines and 40 on cardio. Of the cardio, most were walking on the treadmills. Spinning and dance-like zumba classes are big here.

Gym etiquette is lacking. People often just leave weights wherever they were using them instead of putting them back in their place; do dumbbells at the bench press station instead of on a free bench; and they'll stand right between you and the mirror. At least there are no lunk alarms.

In Parque España, there are outdoor parkour workouts (south end of the park) and core fitness workouts (mostly in-shape chicks who are probably hot for the Argentinian instructor; center of the park) in late afternoons a few days a week. In Parque México there's tango in the evening. These are independently organized and you pay a fee to the instructor.

Tonired - let us know how you go with the gyms around Condesa/Roma, I'll be looking for one in that area soon too. I saw a brand new place just near Plaza Luis Cabrera a couple months ago.

Agree with the sentiment here that in general the girls aren't stunners here, but you will find some super hot girls in the right places and they are approachable. Cafes around Condesa/Roma, Love in Polanco on Wednesday nights is full of models, the mall in Polanco is probably a good bet too. Don't see too many girls above a 6 in the nightlife around Condesa..you see hotties walking around in yoga pants during the day but they must go to Polanco to party.

To be honest I'm just practicing with women I meet off Tinder. Its a much cheaper option with a potential added bonus.
