RE: Russia: "New World War" Starting In Syria
(04-06-2017 08:48 PM)Libertas Wrote: The most interesting thing from all of this, persuasion wise, is that this directly contradicts the narrative that Trump is a puppet of Russia.
On the other hand, I believe that was the entire purpose of this Russia marketing campaign from the very beginning. Deep State knows how to persuade, just like Trump. Unfortunately, this type of thing is exactly the result it wanted.
We'll have to stay engaged. Trump's base is pushing back hard.
Trump is going to destroy Syria and save Isis and the other jihadis because this will take all the heat away from him. Scumbags like McCain and Kristol will now support him.
Trump is a close friend of Nethanyahu, who is even closer to Kushner:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is so close with Jared Kushner’s family that he once slept in Kushner’s childhood bedroom, according to a New York Times profile of Kushner. (Kushner, then a teenager, slept in the basement that night.)
Kushner, U.S. President Donald Trump’s adviser and son-in-law, will convene with Netanyahu and Trump in a much-anticipated meeting about the U.S.-Israel relationship on Wednesday of this week.
For Kushner, it will be also be a reunion with a close family associate. Kushner’s father, Charles Kushner, had a personal relationship with the Israeli prime minister. Netanyahu visited Charles Kushner, a real estate mogul, in his office and also spent time at a Jewish school financed by the family. Netanyahu even included Charles Kushner on a list of wealthy American Jews likely to contribute to the Likud primary elections a few years ago, reported the New York Times.
Trump has fingered Kushner as a Mideast peace broker. But Kushner’s family donations to West Bank settlements and ties to Netanyahu have made critics question whether he would be an impartial negotiator.

But it wouldn't make any sense as a ploy to take that heat off because the Russia narrative was already collapsing while it was becoming very apparent that the Obama administration was politicizing the "intelligence community." It was only a matter of time.
I recommend Scott Adams' post today. http://blog.dilbert.com/post/15926498100...persuasion
Quote:’m going to call bullshit on the gas attack. It’s too “on-the-nose,” as Hollywood script-writers sometimes say, meaning a little too perfect to be natural. This has the look of a manufactured event.
My guess is that President Trump knows this smells fishy, but he has to talk tough anyway. However, keep in mind that he has made a brand out of not discussing military options. He likes to keep people guessing. He reminded us of that again yesterday, in case we forgot.
So how does a Master Persuader respond to a fake war crime?
He does it with a fake response, if he’s smart.
Watch now as the world tries to guess where Trump is moving military assets, and what he might do to respond. The longer he drags things out, the less power the story will have on the public. We’ll be wondering for weeks when those bombs will start hitting Damascus, and Trump will continue to remind us that he doesn’t talk about military options.
Then he waits for something bad to happen to Assad’s family, or his generals, in the normal course of chaos over there. When that happens on its own, the media will wonder if it was Trump sending a strong message to Assad in a measured way. Confirmation bias will do the rest.
This is what I hope is happening now. Now he has his "response." The "message" was sent. Confirmation bias and the recency effect will do the rest. It's sort of Art of the Deal generation of leverage.

WW3 averted for now:
Quote:He said that no Russian planes were at the airfield and that the cruise missiles did not target any Russian facilities.
The Pentagon informed Russian military officials, through its established deconfliction channel, of the strike before the launching of the missiles, the official said, with American officials knowing when they did that that Russian authorities may well have alerted the Assad regime. “With a lot of Tomahawks flying, we didn’t want to hit any Russian planes,” he said.

They had to assume Russia would tell Assad where the strike was coming. So it's possible the strike was just for show.

U.S. Weighs “Saturation Strike” Against Syrian Government in Response to Chemical Attack
"The Pentagon has developed plans for an airstrike against Syrian government targets in response to this week’s apparent chemical attack by Syrian government forces, according to two U.S. military officials.
Secretary of Defense James Mattis will present the proposals to Donald Trump later today at the president’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
One of the proposals drawn up is a “saturation strike” using dozens of cruise missiles designed to hit Syrian military targets — including military air fields — in an effort to limit future Syrian Air Force attacks on rebel positions, according to the two U.S. military officials.
The officials asked for anonymity to discuss classified plans.
The proposed strike would involve launching Tomahawk cruise missiles to overwhelm Russian air defense systems used by the Syrian military. The Russian government currently helps maintain the air defense sites and advises the Syrian military.
According to both U.S. military officials, the current proposal would likely result in Russian military deaths and mark a drastic escalation of U.S. force in Syria.
One U.S. military official said the decision to allow the strikes, which would kill Russians, signals a significant change in policy by the Trump administration. A decision by Trump to go forward with the plan would be a reversal from the Obama administration, which denied multiple airstrike proposals that would likely cause Russian personnel casualties in Syria."

RE: The Syria conflict thread [re-titled]
I wonder what happens if Russia takes any casualties in these strikes. Will that trigger a full on military escalation? I don't see them backing down in such an instance. They did let Turkey shoot down a jet. But if anti air gets in the way and many Russian troops die...who the fuck knows. Collateral damage here could be very costly. And honestly I hope they don't back down. The US is out of control with the way it uses it's military in the world. This has to stop. Completely irresponsible to not wait for an investigation and real hard proof and go in there with the potential catastrophic consequences of any collateral damage to, say, Russian troops.
Hilarious the pussy ass westerners, all of them, leaders, civilians, and media, can be so easily manipulated and swayed by pictures of fucking children and throw all rationality and logic out the window. Just push ISIS to the back burner, as if they haven't been doing atrocities exponentially worse than anything Assad has. Bullshit, it's all bullshit. The US will execute the divine will of Israel with no legality or proof and every idiot in our hemisphere will eat the fecal shit up with a smile. Fuck.
edit: Looks like steps were made to contain collateral damage and the Russians were warned. Great, I guess. Still, Trump displayed hypersensitive decision making and that he is easily manipulated by emotional propaganda. As well as being fooled by an incredibly obvious false flag. I am still pissed.

You better believe I am not fighting against Russia in Europe in WW3. America and its vassals truly has become the Empire of Evil.

RE: The Syria conflict thread [re-titled]
From the Department of Defense News Releases:
Quote:Statement from Pentagon Spokesman Capt. Jeff Davis on U.S. strike in Syria Press Operations
Release No: NR-126-17
April 6, 2017
At the direction of the president, U.S. forces conducted a cruise missile strike against a Syrian Air Force airfield today at about 8:40 p.m. EDT (4:40 a.m., April 7, in Syria). The strike targeted Shayrat Airfield in Homs governorate, and were in response to the Syrian government's chemical weapons attack April 4 in Khan Sheikhoun, which killed and injured hundreds of innocent Syrian people, including women and children.
The strike was conducted using Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles (TLAMs) launched from the destroyers USS Porter and USS Ross in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. A total of 59 TLAMs targeted aircraft, hardened aircraft shelters, petroleum and logistical storage, ammunition supply bunkers, air defense systems, and radars. As always, the U.S. took extraordinary measures to avoid civilian casualties and to comply with the Law of Armed Conflict. Every precaution was taken to execute this strike with minimal risk to personnel at the airfield.
The strike was a proportional response to Assad's heinous act. Shayrat Airfield was used to store chemical weapons and Syrian air forces. The U.S. intelligence community assesses that aircraft from Shayrat conducted the chemical weapons attack on April 4. The strike was intended to deter the regime from using chemical weapons again.
Russian forces were notified in advance of the strike using the established deconfliction line. U.S. military planners took precautions to minimize risk to Russian or Syrian personnel located at the airfield.
We are assessing the results of the strike. Initial indications are that this strike has severely damaged or destroyed Syrian aircraft and support infrastructure and equipment at Shayrat Airfield, reducing the Syrian Government's ability to deliver chemical weapons. The use of chemical weapons against innocent people will not be tolerated.

If Hillary Clinton were to engage in military action without congressional approval on Syria, we'd be (rightfully) going apeshit on here. I am holding President Trump to the same standard.
