Thanks for your many good points in your earlier post Isaac.
Regarding your point about the bitcoin thread being changed to crypto thread.. sounds a bit ridiculous to me, but sure we can disagree about these kinds of things.
Nonetheless, the last time I checked, we are still in the bitcoin thread.
Do you guys really believe that I should just give up on this topic - In other words, I should stop attempting to preserve the name bitcoin in this stupid-ass bitcoin thread?
The conclusion that some RVF guys want to reach is that RVF guys, except for me and a couple others, don't care about keeping out alt discussions?
I feel that I am being repetitive, but maybe you should care?
Historically, we have not really excluded alt coin discussions in this thread, so long as the alt coin discussions are either related to BTC or not like a compete divergence into the alt coin (like a pump or dump kind of tangent).
So historically, even in this bitcoin thread, there has been a tolerance of something like 5-10% divergence into alt coin discussions (and/or other non bitcoin discussions - besides the personal attacks - which I am attempting NOT to count. hahahahaha)
If we are changing thread titles, who is going to petition the name change? Is Pants going to change it or an RVF admin?
Maybe I am ranting for nothing, but it seems a pity that several RVF guys are not able to recognize and/or appreciate why this thread has "bitcoin" in its name and the historical focus of this thread has been about bitcoin and the name does not say "crypto currencies" and the name does not say "bitcoin and various alts" nor "bitcoin and ....__blah blah blah____.."
Bitcoin is in the name of this thread, and such a conclusion is not about "JJG not keeping up with the times." It is called thread theme and/or thread focus.
In RVF there has been ways to have threads that attempt to maintain various focuses and/or themes, and a pretty decent practice that attempts to minimize trolling and thread hijacking.
And, the historical focus and theme of this thread happens to be all things bitcoin, and that is a BIG FUCKING FOCUS, no?
As Isaac's post suggests, Bitcoin is no small topic and it touches upon a lot of topics including but not limited to politics, economics, social systems, and computer geeky things.
Why are RVF guys struggling to stick to the largely bitcoin topic? but they want to talk about some other alt or get caught up in some tangential topic?
Why can't RVF guys post about the amazing money that they made and the amazing fundamentals of that other alt in another thread called "alt coins thread"? they could even link to the substance of their pump or their "informative" post in this particular bitcoin thread, no?
For some reason, several of you guys don't want to create another thread or participate in another thread with another name, such as "alt coin thread"?
You like this bitcoin thread, with the name "bitcoin" in it, but you want to argue that the thread and the topic has evolved? Why not evolve into another thread rather than wanting to rename this thread?
Why can't I see the issue that some RVF guys seem to be having of just keeping this thread as "bitcoin" and "bitcoin focused" and making some other thread that has some other name or focus?
Is it possible to just name a new thread or new topic or just taking over the alt coin thread for the purposes that you want... ?
You say: "But 'we' want this bitcoin thread because bitcoin has evolved". Ultimately, that is bullshit, and most guys should be able to recognize and appreciate that it is almost completely unnecessary to rebrand this particular bitcoin thread as "all cryptos" or some other variation on the previous name.
Let's say the new purpose is of this thread were to talk about alt coins with only 65% discussions of bitcoin (because in those circumstances bitcoin would be a topic but not the exclusive topic of the thread)...
Then I would ask, why purposefully aim to pervert this "bitcoin" thread with various kinds of non-topical stuff, whether that is going to be 50% watered down or 35% watered down or 15% watered down or some other quantity of the incorporation of non-bitcoin info?
Again, I reiterate that historically 5-10% topic divergence in this thread is already decently tolerated, so why do we need to try to achieve more divergence than that?
If guys are interested in other topics, but they still want to mostly talk about bitcoin then why can't these guys still accomplish those kinds of discussions in this thread with a 5-10% tolerance or in another thread that could be tailored to whatever level of tolerance that you would like to create?
Why does such proposed additional divergence in topic need to take place in this particular thread - the more than 90% bitcoin thread?
But you say: " 'we' want the more than 90% bitcoin thread to become the more than 85% bitcoin thread because up to 10% is not enough."
Several RVF guys seem to think that this bitcoin thread should conform to new topics rather than creating a new thread because times have changed in the crypto world? And bitcoin has become less important, therefore, we should treat bitcoin as less important in this particular thread.
Maybe some guys would like this thread to treat bitcoin at whatever happens to be its current coinmarketcap market share? recently such bitcoin coinmarket cap share had gone down to around 67%).
But I still don't get why more alt coin discussions is warranted or needs to come to this thread, even if bitcoin's market share were only 20%.. why does that matter in terms of this thread?
Even if guys want to talk more about alts, why does that market share of bitcoin matter to the "BITCOIN" thread? RVF guys can take their discussion of 80% of what is going on in cryptolandia (what is happening in alts) to another thread, no? Why does it need to be in the bitcoin thread?
We have plenty of news and happenings in bitcoin to talk about here, no?
It seems to me that there is still a whole hell-of-a-lot going on in bitcoin, whether that is recognized by RVF guys or not, whether mainstream media appreciates bitcoin or not, and bitcoin by itself remains a very GRAND topic, no?
Let's get some of our facts straight here... Do we understand that mainstream media loves to figure out ways to dilute the importance of bitcoin?, and we believe that RVF should do those kinds of dilutions to this bitcoin thread, too?
Bitcoin's total market cap on a daily weighted average is still floating in its top 50 highest daily averages - EVER!!!!!.... and most of those 50 all time high days are in 2017.. and largely in March.. Just yesterday closed out at top 30 (
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=...sg18421605) and today is likely to close out in a little bit better territory.
It seems that bitcoin is in good times, and bitcoin is not dying, and bitcoin is not near dead as a topic of discussion either, even though several guys seem to be o.k. to attempt to derail the thread and to get distracted by new and shiny pumps and to assert that there may be some bitcoin 2.0s out there.
Who gives a ratt's ass if there may be some bitcoin 2.0s out there, this is still the bitcoin thread, no?
or would we not know that this is the bitcoin thread from the bullshit posts of RVF guys trying to suggest that bitcoin is not very important anymore - which also seems to be what mainstream media would like us to believe, as well.
So what if other cryptos are becoming more important in the whole scheme of things and so what if other cryptos take over bitcoin in terms of market share, why can't those discussion go into a new thread..? a "better than bitcoin" thread?
Why does the bitcoin thread need to be trolled with a new title? Let's allow the troll to describe the dilution of bitcoin for us by creating a new title. Let's call it "the bitcoin used to be better" thread.
Even if some of the other coins were to take over bitcoin, they don't got what bitcoin's got. Tell me what they got that bitcoin doesn't got? They got some current pumping going on, yes. But what else do they got? And, why do we need to hear about it in this thread, unless the post can connect the subject matter to bitcoin?
So before we go and write off bitcoin as being dead or near dead or less important than the other coins, let's consider the matter in a bit of a broader historical context, and accordingly, it seems quite premature to be seriously contemplating name changes to this thread at this time.
For you people who believe bitcoin is less, then what is wrong with starting over with a new thread and a new topic?
Why do guys who are interested in evolving this topic to other cryptos need the history of this particular bitcoin thread?
This thread has been mostly just me posting a bunch of bitcoin bullshit anyhow, no? Who cares about this thread.. start a new one. right?
If this thread is dying because of its bitcoin focus and theme or happens to be dying because it is about bitcoin and bitcoin is dying, then why not just leave the thread to fair as it will? Why does it need to be revived or modernized with some dilution of focus?
Survival of the fittest, right? and if bitcoin dies , then this thread dies too, right?
But if bitcoin does not die, then we have a place to talk about bitcoin and bitcoin related topics, and topics that are largely related to bitcoin, no? What is wrong with that?
It seems that I still don't get it.
Why do guys need this thread or its history in order to accomplish a mission to discuss alts or to create a new variation on bitcoin and bitcoin related topics that gives more emphasis to alts? why?
Yeah, some had said, including SunW, that this thread has a bigger audience than other threads, but so fucking what?
SunW also suggested that guys should just ignore the off topic posts, and I don't really have a problem with that, so long as the off-topic posts are on an incidental scale, rather than a purposeful attempt to change the theme and focus of this thread.
If there really is an interest of RVF guys in the discussion of alts and giving less priority to bitcoin, then the RVF guys audience can be built around that new and improved thread, no? and RVF guys will migrate to that new and improved bitcoin thread with greater alt discussion, no? Interest will gravitate to the new and improved thread, right?
You say: "But 'we' want to use this Bitcoin thread for that new purpose."
And, even if a new mostly bitcoin and some alts thread were to be created, there would not be anything wrong with putting a link in this thread about some silly ass altcoin pump that is taking place in that other new thread, no?
If RVF guys want to give less weight to bitcoin, then why change the topic here?
It seems that I still don't get it.
What am I missing? If everyone wants to talk about something else, what the fuck you doing in the bitcoin thread?
Maybe you are saying: "I wished that the bitcoin thread was not just about bitcoin and it was about other stuff, too."
O.k..
Create a thread. Call it. "All cryptos thread."
Call it whatever you like. Call it: "bitcoin and other stuff thread"
or call it "the upgraded bitcoin thread"
or call it "65% bitcoin and 35% other stuff"
or call it "35% bitcoin and 65% other stuff"
or call it "bitcoin thread without JJG" .. (no I'm just kidding on this last suggestion because I would probable still attempt to go into the "bitcoin and other stuff thread")
Historically, there has been nothing wrong in this thread with guys making comparisons and contrasts of other cryptos, as long as their posts have had something to do with bitcoin rather than a nearly pure tangent into some other coin.
I know, I know.. a bit too much of a repetitive rant... but I guess I am still having trouble understanding why there is some kind of need for several RVF guys to want to purposefully dilute this particular bitcoin thread beyond the incidental (5-10%) discussion of alt coins that has already been acceptable in this thread?
