Most underrated in Mexico: Real del Monte, quiet colonial mining town. In the guidebook for sure but less well known than other 'pueblos mágicos'. Access via a terrifying 'combi' microbus ride from Pachuca (central Mexico, Mexico City).

Overrated: San Miguel Allende - "Colonial" town that is way overpriced, US prices and filled with yuppie retired gringos which took away all of it's historical colonial value.

Underrated: Texas - Cheap places with hot bitches and bootyfull latinas.

Overrated: Milan. It's foggy and they put a damn video billboard on the cathedral. The women were meh, but to be fair all the locals were very kind to me and my traveling companions.

Underrated: Guatemala. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it's cheap, the landscape is interesting if you get out of the major cities, and some of the local girls are very beautiful.

Overrated
Budapest, very few stunners, girls were marginally more attractive than in most western European nations. Seemed like a shittier version of Wien with drink prices and sometimes even food prices that were more or less the same or slightly cheaper

NYC (for living)
There's a level of masochism I just don't get, even if you're young. Sure, there are lots of pretty sluts, good food, amazing events and all the vanity that comes with it. Would you really want to live in a city that destroys your mind, lungs and soul?

Underrated
Norway, sure it's extremely feminist and expensive, but the girls are decent for W Euro standards and the nation has extremely beautiful scenery, especially the fjords

Novi Sad

small town with a very very interesting history, sweet beautiful girls and seemed relatively untouched by commercialization

Sicily

probably the best beaches in Europe, much cheaper and more enjoyable than Croatia and sweet feminine girls for W Euro standards. The quality of food is certainly the best in Europe, people are very very friendly, even if extremely disorganized.

(08-08-2016 04:17 PM)frankiecred Wrote:  Overrated: IN BRAZIL: By a long shot FLORIANOPOLIS. I can't tell you how much I regret choosing that spot for 6 months.

I wouldn't even know where to start:

1. AWFUL TRAFFIC AND TERRIBLE ROADS - The traffic is so bad during high season and the roads so bad you can't even get to the beach or anywhere, you're literally stuck in your neighborhood, which by default in Floripa is an hour away from all the other neighborhoods because Floripa. Anyone who has been to Floripa during high season knows exactly what i'm talking about.

If you come to Floripa you are going to spend 40 hours a week in the car.

2. TERRIBLE LOGISTICS - The different party areas are all extremely spread out. To go from one neighborhood to another takes 30-40 minutes or even more if conditions are bad. Also I just can't emphasize how bad a shape the roads are, just AWFUL, I mean even by Brazilian standards. Just to get from my neighorhood in downtown Floripa to Lagoa de concesao, a touristy area about 3km away would often takes 20-30 minutes up and down a mountain. (yes you read that right, 30 minutes to cover 2 miles, I swear I am not exaggerating)

You need a car to get anywhere (no uber, few taxis) and a 5km drive can easily turn into 1 hour+ (seriously). If you do meet a date, you're going to have to drive very far to either hangout with her or pick her up, leaving you feeling like a chump if she cancels along the way. Also the long drives between venues can kill the vibe and and really encourages you to drink and drive (bad!)

3. HARD TO PULL, even if you're good looking (i'm ok), even if you speak Portuguese (i do), even if you have good game (so so for me). It is possibly the only major city in Brazil where its actually pretty hard to get laid. And this is coming from someone who has been to about half of Brazil's major cities and provinces all around the country. I went on more dates in one week in Rio then I did in half a year in Floripa. And before you say its just me. We had a friend come visit who was 6"1 tall, ripped with 6 pack, blonde hair blue eyes, people say he looks like a news reporter. Anywhere else in Brazil he could literally have any girl he wants wihout saying a word. In Floripa he got blown the fuck out with every approach. Competition is fierce.

3. OBSCENLY EXPENSIVE (even in dollars) It is way more expensive then any other city in Brazil including Rio, especially short to medium term housing prices. Condos during high season are outrageously expensive, we got lucky splitting a 3br in downtown Floripa for about $1,500 month each (yes that is a "good deal" in Floripa) but the problem was it was so hard to get to the beaches we just ended up hanging around downtown all the time (and there is very little to do downtown). The clubs are brutally expensive, even with dollar being high right now, its still like $50US to get in and $10US beers to get into shitty club where they play non stop techno to hangout with super elitist Argentinians/Brazilians who are all unfreindly andd have no desire to talk to you.

Also you need a car, and that will get expensive and most def get primary insurance.

4. TERRIBLE WEATHER The weather sucks, in the summer its way way wetter than the rest of Brazil, nonstop rain, and in the winter its way colder than the rest of Brazil.

5. NOT EVEN REALLY BRAZILIAN - Doesn't feel Brazilian at all - People are cold, it feels more like eastern europe or Argentina. Go take a trip to Goiania or around rural Bahia to see how friendly Brazilians can really be.

6. PROVINCIAL / EVERYBODY KNOWS EACH OTHER - If you stayed here for years you could break into a social circle but even then it seems amongst the locals that everyone has their group of friends, and they aren't so keen to include foreigners like they are in Sao Paulo/Rio where it seems like they WANT to include a foreigner in their group to seem cool. Everyone knows each other in this town of 1 million so it means more established groups and less slutty girls since they don't want to soil their rep = bad for you on a 3-4 month stay.

7. NO ENGLISH - Not really a problem for me since I speak fluent Portuguese, but you will find that no one, and I mean nobody speaks English in Floripa, not even waiters speak very much. If you don't speak fluent Portuguese I would much rather suggest Rio or Sao Paulo

TLDR WAY BETTER OPTIONS IN BRAZIL - Its not that Floripa is bad compared to, lets say, Minneapolis or something, of course its not. There is a beautiful beach, beautiful girls to at least look at, and its safer then most Brazilian cities. Not trying to be negative, i'm writing this post out of care to make sure people don't make the same mistake I did when there is so many better options. If you're gonna head that far down there I would pick Itacare, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte or many other choices that offer better prices, better logistics, better weather, girls that are more down to get down, better public transporation, less spread out, less cliquicy etc.

UNDERRATED: Mexico City, anywhere in Mexico really (Though Guadalajara might be over rated as its pretty boring AF even if suppodusly the girls are better looking than DF). In Brazil, anywhere in Bahia except Salvador (Itacare, Porto Seguro could be a great place to pull too),

Bali - Gets hated on so much but actually has good looking girls from Java ready to get down, good lookin europea and .russia girls who are friendly, great surf for beginner/early intermediate like me, great nightlife, cheap prices, and good weather too. Why all the hate just cause some aussies get to drunk ... whatever.

Bulgaria as a country (Sofia, Plovdiv, and Varna are all excellent choices) - As a country. OK, so I mean the Serbs, the Romanians and possibly even the Hungarians are a bit better looking but Bulgarians are super friendly and there are a lot of stunners and at least a lot of butterfaces with nice curvy bodies and lots of big titties. There is a huge talent pool if you want to hire local developers etc. Low cost of living. Really fast internet. Girls a bit more westernized then the rest of the Balkans = sluttier girls + more English. Most people under 35 speak some English at least. Very cheap tickets anywhere else in Europe. Still not part of Schengen. Very mild winters, esp in Varna and Plovdiv, which have a climate similar to Dallas or Atlanta something like that. The culture is agreeable and so are the people.

Also regarding FLORIPA the incredibly important #8:

8. THERE IS NO SURF IN TOWN AT ALL - For all you surfers out there this was the biggest disappointment of them all and I feel its of pressing urgency to let you guys know this because I'm sure you guys have heard that Floripa is a "surf city" so you may get fooled like I did.

Before I came to Floripa I was well warned it was hard to pull, it was spread out, etc but I figured at least I could practice my surf for a few months ... boy was I wrong. I fell for how Floripa disingenuously markets itself as a big "surf city" Let me set the record straight on that.

First of all there is NO SURF IN THE SUMMER in the main beach breaks, only about 15-20% of the time are there are any waves at all, most days its 100% flat, and even when there is some swell its very choppy with extremely strong onshore winds. The best place to surf is the south island (Campeche and farther south) but even these places really only have steady swells in the winter (july - sept) and if you are in downtown or north island these beaches take 1 hour+ to reach anyways..

Even in the winter the conditions aren't great near Floripa and are best in Garopaba around 100km (see 2 hours) south.

Also, if by some miracle there is surf it will probably be pouring rain and/or traffic will be too shitty to get out of your suburb (see #1, #2 and #4).

OK so lets say there is a fucking miracle and the weather is sunny (20% chance on its own), the traffic is reasonable (10% chance) and will take "only" one hour to get to the beach, and there is good surf (20% chance), this is a "1% miracle" day in Floripa and the beach break will be so crowded with surfers you can't even move because hey, you're not the only one who realized its a miracle.

Also the water is very very cold.

Even in the winter, conditions are hit or miss according to magicseaweed. Compare that to Costa Rica, i'm a dump right now (jacó) but at least there are good smooth waves on about 85% of days. Floripa has the opposite ratio as in in the summer there is no surf unless there is a major storm coming. (think like east coast USA)

TL;DR - There is little surf in Floripa and this whole "surf town" thing is a big BS marketing ploy as there is no surf in the summer and the best beaches to surf are 80 miles away.

If you want good waves in Brazil go to Pipa or Itacaré, much warmer water, more accessible beach, more consistent waves in the summer, and much less crowded. Pipa is a great place to learn how to surf in Brazil and packed with exotic hotties as well (though the town can be a bit elitist). Itacaré is a bit more "hippy" but lots of middle class Brazilian girls from Sao Paulo go there to party and they are the easiest bait in Brazil.

as an american, i love floripa. the girls were good. the waves were not great, but fun ,warm and nice. the is a diverse setup of surf spots, and they are spread out.

Underrated City: Kyoto

More peaceful than Tokyo, great feel for traditional and old Japanese architecture, and of course, beautiful Japanese girls on the streets everywhere.

This.

Had a blast in Kyoto everytime I went there. Seems low key at first but if you hang around even where the most stereotypical expats hangout (by the river, can't remember the name but you can't miss it as it's west of the Gyon geiko district) you will meet some cool people.

During the day the temples and mountainside walking paths are amazing. Hungover or not it's an introspective nature inspired meditation. Go back to your hotel/hostel for a quick nap and then hit the night again.

Great for 2-3 days then you're just 40 min away from Osaka, the more relaxed and youthful version of Tokyo. Bonus is the Korean immigrant communities with some real cute mixed cuties.

Underrated: Haiti, it has its tough times, but its filled with adventure, good people, good food(the rice isnt my favorite), riding a scooter with three people on, doing a wheelie, singing songs with the Haitians. It's definetly more cheap than most places.

That Floripa post.. Lol.. I was in Lagoa for 18 months.. Definitely spot on.. While there, my game was like being sub .200 in the major league then dropping down into minors and hitting .400+ after leaving.

Overrated: Boston. Not that it gets a lot of praise anyway, but it is by far the shittiest big city in the US imo. Uptight women, tons of attitude, disorganized urban planning, next to no nightlife, and very leftist. It is safe and clean though.

Underrated: Fort Lauderdale. Great beach! Lots of nice Latinas walking around as well as huge spring break talent. Very affordable too.

Overrated:
- Without doubt Portugal takes #1 spot for me. Horrible girls with the occasional exception of some tourist, poor attitude of the locals, I found Lisbon in particular pretty dirty where even stray dogs wouldn't be an uncommon sight. Visited 3 times on several different occasions and from a player's standpoint it wasn't really anything to write home about. Only positive note, great surf on the coast, if you're into that.
- Krakow, tick tock, tick tock: the textbook example of a pretty burned out city getting played out by the hour
- Scandinavia, the whole lot, sorry. Are there hotties? Of course. Can't put up with the psychobabble of most girls there and the overall attitude. YMMV.

Underrated:
- Cebu, Philippines in Asia with tons of poosy and a bit of a more exotic flavor compared to the rest of the country.
- I'd second Fort Lauderdale when it comes to the States for the previously stated reasons: latinas / spring breaks.
- Seville, Spain in Europe is another good option that I hardly ever see mentioned. Great weather, lots of young students.

Who ever wrote or said that Portugal was good to game locals? It can be bad, but overrated sure it ain't.
As for the stray dogs...you should have come 20 years ago to see whole packs of them.

Fort Lauderdale, very affordable? Not for 98% of the world population, I'd say... I mean, the price of a hotel night in Fort Lauderdale, and even the price of food in shops and restaurants, are high, on-pair with Western capitals.

I had a bit of price shock my last return to the States from Colombia when I flew into Fort Lauderdale. I couldn't make my connecting flights line up right with the cheapest connector back home, so I thought I'd just spend the night in FLL and fly out the next day and save $200 on my connector flight.

Did I save $200? Well fuck no. I got an Uber ($30), stayed at a Motel 6 ($88), didn't have anything to do so I went to a bar and grill and drank all night ($70). Then I got an Uber back to the airport the next day ($30). Goddamn I spent so much money to save that 200 bucks.

The biggest surprise was the Motel 6 at $88. I was spending $8 a night in Colombia for lodging and now I'm paying 11 times that for the cheapest hotel I could find.

RE: Most Overrated/Underrated Place You've Been
For me, it isn't enough that a city has hot girls, shit you can find hot girls at your local supermarket. For a city to be worth goin to (for gaming purposes at least), there has to be:

a) significantly more hot girls per capita than in my current place of residence (manhattan, nyc) and/or
b) they have to be much more accessible - meaning it should be easier to get with an 8+ there than it is where I currently am.

That's the only way to justify spending the time and money to get on the damn plane and go there, lol. Especially for some of these far off places where you're traveling long periods of time, say 8+ hrs or more.

Overrated:
Los Angeles, Krakow, Stockholm

That Los Angeles sucks for gaming is no secret, it's been discussed on this board already. Stockholm was surprisingly disappointing. I went to their party district on a Friday/Saturday night and sure, there were cute girls but not nearly as many as I had envisioned. And the city itself is pretty meh.

Underrated:
Zurich, Wroclaw

Zurich, as tiny as it is, blew my mind away - close to 40% of the women I saw were at least a solid 7.5, with no shortage at all of 8+s. Also very elegantly dressed. But the Swiss are boring as fuck, I couldn't see myself living there for any significant stretch of time. Too bad I was only passing through and had barely 2-3 days there, and it's expensive as hell. $8 USD for a small bottle of water at Starbucks? GTFO...

Pussy ain't for pussies...

Zurich is a very beautiful city but besides that it sucks in everything else.

It is way to expensive and to my experience most of the good to very good looking girls were not actually native Swiss.

35% of Zurich is composed of foreign nationals and a large percentage who have Swiss citizenship are from western balkans.

RE: Most Overrated/Underrated Place You've Been
Bump. Let's get some more up-to-date responses on this thread. It's a good one.

As for me, here are the countries that stand out to me:

Overrated: N/A. I honestly cannot think of any countries that I have traveled to that are overrated on this forum. This is a good thing. It means that we as a community have enough scrutiny to separate the bullshit from the authenticity. It is worth noting that many of the most contentious countries on this forum, are places that I have not yet had the opportunity to travel to.

Properly rated: China. Argentina. United States.

China- The general consensus on the forum is that there is potential to get with reasonably feminine and beautiful girls if you are willing to play the long game. As far as I can tell, this is accurate. I would say that the average Mainland Chinese girl is below average. Would definitely not come here for the women with SEA options available.

Argentina- There are absolutely some stunners here and it a country that is more "Old World" and "European" than most western european countries. The women also have a phenomenal sense of style and for the most part take care of themselves enough to maintain their figure. With that said, the women are not easy. So in that sense, I agree with the forum consensus.

United States- Has both the bottom of the barrel and the creme de la creme. Not much more to say.

Underrated: Spain.

Spain- I honestly feel as though I went to a different country when I read some of the Spain reports here. I have spent A LOT of time in Spain. The women that I encounter there have a good sense of style, eat healthy and can dance well. I am more drawn to the extremely light skinned variety, and I have no problem finding plenty of beautiful, curvaceous women that meet my criteria.

RE: Most Overrated/Underrated Place You've Been
I had a two day business trip to Amsterdam recently and was very surprised by the good talent for western europe.

I saw loads of tall blue eyed, blond hotties in hotpants with very cute faces. Many girls have a typical dutch look (round face, big eyes, pretty smile and a small nose). Even spotted some milfs which were in great shape. I guess it has something to do with their beach culture and using often the bicycle?

The overall quality was much better than here in Hamburg. But some of the male competition also looked very well (tall, jacked and well dressed)

Can say nothing how gameable they are

OVERRATED:

SWEDEN: Feminazi hell, women are not that attractive, people are cold, robotic, and if you dare to question their Orwellian socialist utopia you're met with snobbery and attitude! The cities are full of Muslims so plenty of hijabs, and you can sense the social tension. Plus TERRIBLE WEATHER!!!
I will NEVER go back to Sweden!

ITALY: Most women fall in the mediocre 4's and/or 5's, but have attitudes as if they were solid 9's!
Overrun with tourists from the Anglosphere and China taking over! The women are the true definition of gold diggers. Ironically not even Italian men like their own women. I couldn't meet a single Italian guy who liked them. I forgot to mention the country is a big functional mess. Don't expect anything to be on time or to function, it won't!

BUDAPEST-PRAGUE-CRACOW AXIS: The cities are ok, but don't be gullible, those women are not that hot! Czech, Polish and Hungarian women are around a 5 on average. The best looking ones a solid 8. Better than most Western European women, but in no way among the hottest women on the planet.

RUSSIA: It's surprisingly poor and backwards. The women overdress and end up looking tacky! Moscow's outskirts have to be one of the most depressing places I've experienced. Just lacking in color! People are cold, with a serious inferiority complex regarding the west, the women produce themselves (so plenty of make up and clothes before going out), take away all of that and you have a pretty meh even cold woman.

UNDERRATED:

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS: Plenty of easy going Tex-Mex Latina beauties. Honestly a lot of women walking around with that Jessica Alba - Eva Longoria thing going on. And unlike major American cities, women don't have that nasty attitude.

PARAGUAY: The Mid west of South America. No one knows much about it, but plenty of hot local girls. Honestly I mean hot!

As a native Texan, I'll give you the easy going part (lowest bitch shields among Latinas in the USA).

Everything else about SA (sprawl, lack of nightlife/bar scene, LTR's/marriage common by ~25) would have me point any interested RVF'er elsewhere (re: Houston, if you must stay in the Lone Star).

And while the Chicana hotties are more prevalent now than when I was in college over a decade ago, there's still too much of the fatties-in-braces at club thing going on. As always, SoCal/NYC/Miami for the top talent.
