Thanks for the info guys. Yeah Young Gunner I always keep a 5 o'clock shadow and I hit the gym hard. It may be gay, but at the moment my wardrobe is based around skinny jeans, Vans and well fitting shirts (I leave the buttons undone because of my defined chest).

G, what would you recommend? How did you dress when you were a young cat?

Shit, pal... don't dress like Garcia in the Godfather. Unless you want people to think you borrowed all your Dad's clothes.

For instance, a leather blazer is really not that cool these days. Or buttoning your top button. If you want to look snazzy/classy and fit for any occasion, go for the classic English gentleman's look, but with a twist of colors - you can see that's how Kanye does it.

Light colors in summer, dark in winter. If you are on a budget, stick to dark colors.

A year from now you'll wish you started today

"First impressions do count: Research shows made-to-measure suit makes you appear more confident, successful":

http://www.physorg.com/news/2011-09-made...ssful.html

I'd bet that people dig fitted outfits over "off the peg" ones because fitted looks more intentional, which is a direct expression of having control/power.

I'd also bet that if they did this experiment with fashions other than suits, they'd find that fitted clothing of any style will yield the same results.

Question, I apologize if this was already answered but I didn't see it anywhere. . .

Are any type of shorts ever acceptable at any type of social setting? If so, does anyone have some good examples? The consensus so far seems to be pants all day every day, but in places where summertime routinely reaches 100+ degrees this can be a little difficult.

I would imagine that the older one is, shorts would become less and less acceptable. I am mid 20's, and personally I don't feel shorts have got in the way of talking to younger women in the summertime, but hey maybe I don't know what I'm missing. Advice?

I like to wear something similar to this during the heat of summer. Minus the sweater though.

Not for evenings, just for the daytime when I am kickin back on the seawall having some lunch or some after work cocktails on the water.

[Image: club-monaco-spring-summer-2012-mens-look...69620.jpeg]

I also picked these up at the end of the year last year. I have not worn them yet I am still deciding how I will wear them. Mine are a bit shorter and more fitted then these, but the same pattern.

I have wanted a madras jacket as well, but I have not bit the bullet yet. I am still a little shy to cross that line. But soon, very soon.

I am thinking of doing something similar to this with my madras shorts.

That tan/light brown summer suit. Thats what I want maybe in Lighter sand color or Silver Gray

I need some help players - I went out last year and bought a bunch of v neck's, button ups, plenty of nice fitted Levi's jeans, a nice pair of dress shoes, a casual black Nautica jacket and some classic Adidas shoes. It probably sounds like training wheels in the fashion world, but I've never dressed like this before. I get a lot more girls eye fucking with these new clothes than my old t shirts, Ecko jeans and Jordans.

I look very young plus I'm broke, so I can't go to the mall and start dropping thousands. What can I add to my closet for summer and winter? I'm thinking a scarf, nice GQ jacket (what kind though?), some sweaters and what else...? Mixx or anyone? Nice, mature, GQ shit that I can wear with jeans. I'm not sure what kind of shirts or accessories I should be looking for.

Ties.

In my intro post I disclosed I had lost around 40lbs since I come across this forum.. hehe well its about 35lbs now, trying to work off christmas and new years feasting.

Anyways, I've had to get a bunch of new clothes as the old ones are obviously not fitting well enough. I've just got me some new slim fit business shirts with cut away collars.

I know of 3 knots

4 in hand
half windsor
full windsor

Because of the cutaway needing a thicker knot i'm going for FW, but I am aware of the existence of other knots.

Any recommendations for what may be a superior knot?

One strategy I like is as soon a I find something that fits, I just get several versions of the same thing or the same thing only. Saves me time in the morning and I always look great. People who see me often enough to know I'm wearing the same shit know why and understand, and people who don't know just think I look good.

So if I see a good deal, I just grab three of whatever it is. My wardrobe is not exciting, but I maintain a decent minimum standard for a guy who is basically broke these days. I also save time because I hate fussing about what I'm going to wear. It's mentally exhausting to me in a way hardcore quantitative methods are not.

A year from now you'll wish you started today

Check out 6PM.com for deals. Basically Zappos discount site but there is tons of good stuff on there for us younger guys without tons of cash.

What I have been doing lately is checking out pics of celebrities whose style I like, and then looking for similar gear on 6PM.com, Zappos.com and Karmaloop.com in a more affordable price.

For jackets, here is one I bought that I like (black one) and girls seem to like it also: http://www.zappos.com/kr3w-the-mancheste...erringbone

I'm just starting to check out fashion so I am in the training wheels phase as well. Before I would just rock some new white sneakers, jeans from Buckle and a new t-shirt and New Era cap. Didn't realize there was a whole new world I didn't know about lol.

Man, thats a cool looking Zappo jacket!! I like it, and the guy is sporting it properly. I'd add a cool looking necklace to just add a bit of spice without over-doing it.

I've see a lot of guys start wearing cool looking cross rosaries, even if they are atheist just for fashion. I bought a cool looking rosary by F. Nebuloni, and it gets a lot of compliments from females.

Laner, aren't those shorts a bit high? How would those suit a muscular male of the darker persuasion? Can it work?

I love the jacket. I usually wear it with a black/white plaid button down underneath it and have the jacket only buttoned at the bottom and I rock a white, Nixon Player watch with it. Still playin around with the whole layering stuff.

Is it common to get quality leather goods in Colombia? Liked a few of the belts on that site you posted. Lookin to grab up a brown/beige leather belt/wallet/watch strap. Would be cool to grab something unique as opposed to somethin from Zappos.

Not just Colombia, but the whole SA continent specializes in leather goods.

Personally I think that shorts are too long in general, and that is just what NA men are used to seeing.

I have muscular legs and I find shorts at that length look better, more flattering. Shorts at the knee or lower are for the beach (I dont have anything other than board shorts below the knee. Even swimming trunks). As usual, its men who mention the length of my shorts, and women who compliment my legs. Something that women have known for a long time, a shorter short makes the legs look straighter and longer.

I think a madras pattern looks great on the dark cats, actually.

This cat has swagger. I look forward to rocking something like this in the future.

If you have a good physique, and a good tan, a shirt like this gets chicks wet. This model doesn't do it justice.

I've been digging into mens style a lot lately. It's amazing how quickly your dress sense can change by reading a few websites and looking through Google images. Here are some of the best sites I have found so far that are not so fucking hipsterish.

http://www.primermagazine.com/
http://www.kinowear.com/blog/
http://www.effortlessgent.com/
http://mensstylepro.com/

Never in a million years thought I would be into these types of styles. I was always a skater kid growing up.

Where do y'all get wife beaters for wearing outside when it's hot? I know Champs has thick ones for cheap.

What kind of t shirts does everyone wear? I stick with jeans and a regular fitting tshirt since I look young. I have ever color V neck already. Been thinking of getting some Ecko ones that actually fit normal haha. Haven't bought any of their shit since I wore baggy clothes. I like graffiti type designs like that.

Black, white, gray and purple (or rather plum colored) fitted t-shirts. Buttons, v's and regular. I buy Zara's regular fit (but one size too small, works better than the slim fit in my size, at least for me) but American apparel has the same thing.

Style-wise, Jason Statham nails it in every movie i've seen. Most guys can rock the same look from their early 20's to their late 30's. Also, the Ocean's series has a lot of fine style examples, something there for everyone.
