I experienced this with my wife, who would descend into a type of depression due to hyper thyroid (long since fixed.. thank god).
I also experienced a period of depression that turned out to be symptoms of low T. Blood tests revealed by cholesterol was way out of wack and other issues. I fixed this issue with supplements, weight lifting, drinking less, and a lot of weight loss. Depression went away and sense of humor came back (feel great now).
Check to see you have a physical issue first before getting too deep into an introspection of your life. A sudden change in mood to the negative might just be a warning sign that something is physically not right with your body.
I haven't had any blood work done but I may need to get my testosterone levels checked. For the last few months I have also had no sex drive for a while - which, as a 21 year old, should not be the case. I also keep finding elements of game which I had internalised years ago to be alien or seem crass (even though I know they work).
Thanks for the input.

I broke up with my LTR of two years back in August on the back of what was the worst period of my life (I got a major back injury right at the beginning of the relationship, followed by major knee and shoulder injuries). Those injuries fucked me up and I spent pretty much all of my final year of uni at home. After I recovered and was newly single (they happened pretty much at the same time) I reassessed my life and realised that I no longer had any hobbies (thanks to injury) and I had little in common with the few friends I had. I hated it.
I also reflected on my relationship and initially incorrectly felt that it was my fault that the relationship ended due to not showing I cared enough. Although I could have done so more, it was actually because I had been crippled for a long time and she had her sisters in her ear telling her to dump me.
In September I began my Masters degree. I have more hobbies but they are pretty much solo things (play chess and piano, and I'm joining a singing group) but I still have few close friends (I may be an undiagnosed aspie, but I'm working on it). I sometimes have negative thoughts about my degree, but I'm just being a little bitch.
Ironically, I managed to maintain my sense of humour, sex drive, and confidence (I often feel a lack of confidence at the moment) throughout my injury, and it is only after that I've begun to feel all this.

You have your answer(s). Some major events have taken place in your life, and people change as a result of their experiences, and even simply getting older. From a personal perspective, the comedians that I used to laugh at when I was your age do nothing for me now.

Can you expand on what you mean by needing to recharge? Do you have any experience of what I'm going through or anything similar?
I might have SAD as I have had a couple of major bouts of depression in winter before.
I'm gonna go get my bloods done asap.

I could not agree more and I used to have this internalized on an emotional level, yet I am struggling to do so these days.

I've had some serious, serious depression over the years. On meds, that kind of stuff. It can be brutal and last for months. It sucks. Sad!
One good thing to do is go for walks or hikes whenever its sunny in the winter and make sure to soak it in as much as you can. Lifting weights is good too. Any kind of exercise can help. Big league. Watching videos of funny Trump moments is great and if you have a dog buddy you can take him for a walk, throw the ball around, dog cuddles. Dogs can be pretty funny.

Work sometimes gets a little rotten. Home life can get stressful. Sometimes your health can get in the way. To me, recharge is doing something productive and fun. To me, recharge also involves meditation and/or just thinking and taking inventory. You will get lots of good advice on both here in this forum. Some people here have an office at home just for that purpose.
I have never been a fan of sitting still in one place so I like to take long drives. 18 hours, 20 hours, etc. Once it was 3 full days of driving. Even though i was tired as shit I was fully recharged. Drove over 1200 miles. Nothing out there except driving and thinking (really, taking inventory of your life)
I also ride a motorcycle. That is the best short term mood enhancer ever invented. There is nothing better than putting on the helmet, picking a direction and go until it is time to go home.
I dont have a chemical issue (I believe). If you do you should get it checked out and get it fixed. If not and its just "life sucks" everyone here has a way to improve the mood. YMMV on this.

I've never been on meds as I've heard a lot of bad shit about them and would just prefer to try and improve as a person or logic my way out of depression.
You may have a point about the lack of exposure to the sun - I'm a masters student in a place where the sun sets at about 3pm everyday, so you can imagine that I don't get out much. That being said, I've never had my sense of humour at least be inhibited by this before.
It also doesn't help that I'm surrounded by feminists and often have to watch what I say.

I'm curious about what's happening there.
Just got my bloods done. Everything came back normal apart from liver function (I have Gilbert's Syndrome) and test (which is naturally high enough for the doctor to repeatedly ask if I'm taking "supplements" lol).
See you're using lol. You're getting your funny back.
Next time, after telling us you got your blood test tell us there was a Japanese guy in line behind you. Tell us the doctor told him he had a cataract. Then tell us the Japanese guy said "No, I drive a Rincoln."
So you are ok , health wise.
The reason you aren't funny anymore is because you aren't hanging around any funny people. Graduate students at a school where the sun goes down at 3pm are not funny. I just know it.
What Dr. Kona suggests you do is hit an Irish Pub at Happy Hour. Get rip shit wasted with some old men. Look for ones laughing and sit next to them. Become a regular, and make it a point to get out there and be funny at least an hour a day.
Now, when you are at the pub, tell the old men how you went to the doctor because you weren't funny anymore. Tell them after he took your blood, you found out you had high testosterone. You told the doctor you wanted a second opinion and he said "well you're ugly too!"
Now let's hear three jokes from you.
Aloha!
