Also, mandela is neither a role model. He was a bomb-planting terrorist. Check about the Umkhonto we Sizwe.

Mandela not a role model and a terrorist? Mandela is without a doubt one of the great men of our times.

Setting aside all the violence his communist trained & funded African National Congress associates perpetrated against blacks & whites.
Once he was the head of state.
How well did he lift the South African blacks out of poverty?
How well did he educate his non ANC cronies?

Or did South Africa turn from being the last remaining bastion of functional civilization in Africa, towards a downward spiral of rampant crime, corruption & collapsing infrastructure?

The Apartheid regime weren't going to release power without a fight. Mandela with the Truth & Reconciliation Commission cut these folks some slack, many Whites could have been slaughtered if they had not done this.

You don't just instantly change the fortunes of all of the people especially when you make a decision to play by the "house rules". Whites had a firm grip for years on the economic power of the country for years, it took them many years to get there (Apartheid Regime) and it will take many years to undo.

There was no need to rebuild South Africa or to paraphrase Trump - "Make South Africa Great Again" back in 1994.
Economically viable (minus the politically motivated sanctions), great infrastructure & utilities.
Highly educated & viable middle & upper class.

All that Mandela & his corrupt ANC cronies needed to do was, maintain the high level of civilization, while also doing what could be done to educate & assist the lives of poor blacks.

Over 20 years later & it's all fallen apart.
Poor economy.
Poor infrastructure & utilities - frequent electricity & water 'brown' outs.
Poor desperate people who foolishly resort to highly violent crime.

Mandela at the very least just needed to maintain the status quo in terms of the economy & infrastructure.
Which he failed to do, hindering the lives of more poor black folk more than anything else.
Forget the politically motivated race & identity politics nonsense.

Although, I imagine Mandela's Swiss bank accounts prospered quite nicely...
Besides, if you're good buddies with the likes of Castro. That's rather telling.

Margaret Trudeau left her husband to go in a tour with the Rolling Stones, and she was notoriously promiscuous.

Knowing that then you look at this:

Margaret Trudeau with her hands around Castro while her husband is feet away.

And what Castro told Margaret Trudeau and her eyes.

I would not be surprised if Justin is really Castro's son.

Margaret Trudeau being promiscuous and Castro being the leader of a revolution, Castro had the entire badboy frame, you could not go more badboy than taking down the government and being a dictator.

Justin Trudeau has a greater resemblance to a young Castro.
Than Chelsea Clinton has to Webb Hubbell.

Plus, it's not as if people are making something out of nothing by stating that... Tony Blair is the son of Castro.
We can see quite clearly that Mother Trudeau met & had a distinct liking to ol' Fidel.

That marriage was rife with in-Fidel-ity...

Now we know Trumps position after the death of el comandante.

"If Cuba is unwilling to make a better deal for the Cuban people, the Cuban/American people and the U.S. as a whole, I will terminate deal."

RE: Cuban TV: Fidel Castro Dead At 90
The blanket terms of calling one a commie are misguided. I will never look down on a man who attempted to lead even if his directions did not go the best.

The climate of the time presented more benefits and more power to choose the Soviet style over American. After getting pillaged by USA why would one be so quick to join their side? Why be the wore that continues to sleep with the drug dealer?

Any tines these larger then life figures pass people loos perspective of the realities at ther table during the time they were brought into power.

You had more chips to play with choosing the Soviet side. All cub tired that did from the start enjoyed much greater powers. The smarter ones eventually stayed in the middle. Castro should of been more Tito and less a Mao and Cuba would of matured much better.

I am on my phone so it is not the most easy way to put forward an argument in rich detail so I will have to revisit this. But ask detractors to put yourself in hs shoes at that time. People think the decisions on what path to go were simple and were far from that.

RE: Cuban TV: Fidel Castro Dead At 90
As a Trump supporter I'm left scratching my head about Trumps latest tweet insinuating he'd roll back the recent Cuba reforms. How does restricting the rights of American citizens to trade and travel put -America First-?! Personally I'd love the ability to buy a $200 round trip ticket to Havana, and be sunning on the beach in Cuban pussy paradise! Many 18 year old 9's and 10's will fuck you, then cook you dinner just for a chance to stay overnight in your beach villa; and get a decent meal. Sounds like a good time to me!

Regardless of what trade rules we put into place rich liberals will continue to enjoy Cuban cigars, Cuban rum; and Cuban vacations by buying goods on the black market; and taking flights though 3rd countries to vacation in Havana as they always have. Working while working class America will have to continue to have their rights trampled on. To what end? An attempt to help illiterate peasants living in a banana republic? Communism is a failed system. Anyone with a brain can see that. But if Cubans want to continue to jail and repress each other that's their problem. Let them take care of it. As an American nationalist why should I care?

In fact I'd rather that Cuba be ruled under a strong dictatorship. Compare the situation in Cuba to the situation in Mexico:

Large swaths of Mexico are in a constant state of anarchy. We have thousands of illegal immigrants pouring across our border from Mexico; often aided by the Mexican government. The cartels have most of the Mexican judiciary and law enforcement in their pockets. They bring across drugs, criminals, and illegal aliens [which screws American workers] with impunity. You'd have to be suicidal to walk down the main boulevard in Juarez or Tijuana alone late at night.

In Cuba the government jails it's criminals and actively patrols it's borders to prevent illegals from coming to the United States. When illegal immigrants are caught by the Cuban authorities an example is made to send a message to those thinking about immigrating illegally. There is no rampant criminality in Cuba. In fact it's probably the safest Spanish speaking country in the world including Spain. The government puts massive resources into the police and military. You can walk down the main boulevard in Havana late at night without thinking twice about being attacked by criminals.

Quote:I knew this thread would turn out like this. I'm going to refrain myself from posting too much in here to avoid being banned but I cannot help but laugh at the stupidity of some of these comments.

Especially those of you praising someone's accomplishment based on textbook knowledge without living it.

I lived it the majority of my life, my family still lives it and no one can tell me otherwise or attempt to act like they know what it's like.

Gotta love all of these: 'I bet you've never ever been to Cuba!' comments. The Cuban exile lobby does everything it can to prevent American Citizens from being able to legally travel to Cuba. So who's fault is that?! They add exemptions for themselves of course.

^And you think this "favorable" situation will last for long if restrictions are lifted and Cuban women get smart phones and Instagram?? You think Cuban women would be, as you put it (and it's already greatly exaggerated), "cooking you dinner just for a chance to stay overnight in your beach villa", if the embargo is lifted? Your "$200 round trip tickets to Havana" are the death of male opportunities, not the beginning of such.
Also, your "beach villa" in Cuba, you can't afford to rent it mate, unless you're very very wealthy. And if you are very very wealthy, go to Medellin or Moscow or Zurich, not, say "complicated" Cuba. Very very rich people would be stupid to take chances.

Quote:Gotta love all of these: 'I bet you've never ever been to Cuba!' comments. The Cuban exile lobby does everything it can to prevent American Citizens from being able to legally travel to Cuba.

Gotta love all of these: 'I bet you've never ever been to Cuba!': Have you ever been to Cuba? Banana

Because, in any case, tons of Americans did that -and do that-, from Mexico (or on authorized chartered flights from Florida). So even with the embargo firmly back in place, you'd just have to go to Cancun, then Havana. Nobody stopped or stops you from going to Cuba.

Also, if you are hoping for cheap flight tickets, then Cuba is not for you: it is an expensive place for travelers. Very expensive, almost on par with Western Europe, and, say, not exactly with Western European customer-service quality.

The embargo was more about principle than anything else; an embargo doesn't exactly work if you're the only nation respecting it, even if you are the giant next door.

As for cheap vacations, Cuba remains a popular destination for Quebecers every winter - a week for a family of four will save you easily $1000 (often more) compared to a similar stay in Mexico.

As far as the eulogizing goes, I like to tell the starry-eyed idealists here that Castro was a great motivator. When they ask how, I explain he was able to motivate people to float across 80 miles of shark-infested waters in nothing more than an inner tube.
