RE: Cuban TV: Fidel Castro Dead At 90
Castro being opposed to the globalists didn't make him a principled anti-globalist than Hitler being opposed to the unions made him a principled free marketer.
Both were merely jealous of competitors to their power, as is the case for all dictators. Gaddafi and Saddam were tangentially useful to Western stability mainly because they kept killing the radicals in their midsts, but this does not make them principled servants of freedom or any friend to the US. They were merely good at keeping power to themselves.
Lee Kuan Yew in Singapore was no different: he made common cause with the communist tiger in his early years. He still shot the fucker right between the eyes once he didn't need it any more.
These men were not free traders or libertarians, not by any stretch of the imagination. Libertarians and free traders don't need to muzzle competing political parties or shoot dissenters. They were also not nationalists: Castro's first and foremost interest was Castro, not Cuba.

Tell me this, is Libya, Syria and Iraq and indeed the wider ME better off today in 2016 than it was in 1996? You know the answer to that. Castro, Assad, Gaddaffi, Chavez and Saddam were deep down nationalists. To say different is absurdly silly. True they were not libertarians but try running that shit show in the ME or Cuba where Castro and Hafez Assad faced enemies from Day 1 intent on killing them and plundering their respective nations in the name of 'freedom' and 'democracy'. And from a super power called the US of A.
Condemn these men and me all you want but at least I'm not cheerleading on the globalists.

The extent of this support - $85m from 1980 to 1986 - was revealed in correspondence to a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. On the Thai border with Cambodia, the CIA and other intelligence agencies set up the Kampuchea Emergency Group, which ensured that humanitarian aid went to Khmer Rouge enclaves in the refugee camps and across the border.

RE: Cuban TV: Fidel Castro Dead At 90
But what are you saying or defending? Cubans live in poverty. Doctors work in hotels as valets.
What should I admire in a man who plunged his people into poverty?
"Prior to the Cuban Revolution, Cuba was one of the most advanced and successful countries in Latin America.[16] The country compared favorably with Spain and Portugal on socioeconomic measures. By the 1950s Cuba was as rich per capita as Italy was and richer than Japan.[17] Its income per capita in 1929 was reportedly 41% of the US, thus higher than in Mississippi and South Carolina.[18]"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Cuba
I´m suppose to admire an idiot which led thousands of people to poverty? Is poverty good? Is hunger good? Is sickness good?
Incredible how can this still be debated. A lot of cubans would be better off if Castro had died earlier. Communist scum. I don´t care if it´s a globalist or nationalist. The well being/standard of living of the people is the criteria. Or maybe it isn´t in your view.
Peoples freedom. Respect for each other. Meritocracy. Etc, etc, etc.
You can debate in theory communism. But in real life. In real world it´s an ideology which only brought misery to the people. Regardless of the tool who pushed this nefarious agenda.
Lastly it´s more and less proven communists is the trendy ideology of the sons of wealthy families. It´s fashionable. Fuck them.

That's why 1000 years after the last communist has died some damn idiot will dust off a copy of The Communist Manifesto and not long thereafter millions of people will be rounded up and shot while millions more will be starved to death.
The greatest injustice of the last century is that communism wasn't regarded as even more evil than Nationalist socialism (ie the NAZIs).

The better question in Syria's case is what state the country was in before Assad's father led the 1970 Corrective Revolution (why do the dictators always choose Glorious And Fantastic Names For Their "Bloodless" Military Coups? Wow, Such Revolution, Very Proletariat, Much People Power).
As Assad's own foreign minister said in 2000: " I am not exaggerating when I say that the Corrective Movement, which took place in 1970 under the leadership of Hafez al-Assad ... has crystalized for the first time in modern Arab history a mature and realistic pan-Arab ideology."
Yes, because nothing horrible ever happens with pan-Arabic ideologies...

You do know Hafez Assad was a part of the coup against the elected Syrian government in 1961, right? Not to mention that what prompted the coup was an attempt at unifying Egypt and Syria led by Arabs in order to oppose Israel? Would you like to specify what US influence was at play there?
Castro, Assad, Gaddaffi, Chavez, and Saddam were deep down out for themselves first. They didn't have any concern for their people except to what extent those people were a threat to their regimes.

Traktor, have you ever been to Cuba?
Or is Cuba for you just a romantic, nostalgic and grandiose idea?
Also, are you aware that Communism is the most globalist of all globalist ideas? For communists, there are no religions, no roots, no ethnicities (even though EE communists secretly despise and fear sub-Saharans, don't you now?), no nativisms. And no private property, by the way. Total globalism (through global misery).

RE: Cuban TV: Fidel Castro Dead At 90
I think people don't fully understand cuba.
There are 2 very distinct subgroups on this.
1) There are many people who love Fidel Castro. A lot of people think of him as a great man who has taken care of them when times have been difficult.
My girlfriend was actually very sad about his death for example.
2) There are many that wished him dead. This is especially true in places where refugees live (i..e. Miami) Why? Well they left Cuba so obviously the number is going to be much higher that dislike him their.
People like to make Cuba out to be a communist shit hole where its impossible to get ahead. I guarantee if you left any self made man or entrepreneur there we have on the forum they would be able to become very successful. When I go there all I see is opportunity.
The Cubans celebrating his death are acting like change is in the air...reality...In Cuba there are 9 days of mourning right now where all the Discos etc. are shut down.
Heres the next in line after Raul (Though it's possible one of the Castro children is chosen to lead after) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miguel_D%C3%ADaz-Canel
Cuba is gonna stay same old same old. You have to remember that they have an entire government of people who agree with Fidel.
The whole hes a murderer, terrible person dialogue is somewhat media pushed and Miami Mafia pushed. It is not in lines with what you'll hear inside of Cuba.
