RE: Older Guys (40+)
Its like your damned if you do damned if you dont. There is no easy answer. I used to think and worry about this shit in my late 20s and early 30s, what a waist of energy. As you get older these things feel more urgent, still, its great to be a man and not have a definite expiry date regarding having children. We are lucky we can stretch the window so much, im thankful for that.

Once your parents health starts failing (if ones are still alive) you can't help but question your own mortality. Once people your age start dying from stuff like cancer or heart disease you really start examining your life with more clarity.

It sounds like a platitude, but these kind of philosophical questions are different for each person, in each situation.

Each person has a different need for attachment, and many times people tend to advise others to seek a relationship style that would fit the advice-giver; not the receiver.

Also, if you want to feel like someone knows you-- meaning having more communication in the relationship-- you'll tend to need to know more about them.

There's a concept called "reciprocal determinism"; which means that people mutually define their relationship as they get to know each other.

There are women that don't really want to know men either, just want the physical comfort of sex without knowing about their problems.

Then again, I'm high-attachment, I want to know and be known.

There's no one way, no right or wrong that fits everyone. Some people never fall in love. Others see not being in love as a curse.

Even a very brief, detached pump and dump without exchanging names is a relationship of sorts.

You just have to face what you want and find someone or someones who want compatible things. Drama comes when one tries to change the other.

I think a chick came up with this one, something like "When people tell you who they are, believe them the first time."

My purpose is to travel, my income is not based on my butt being in a chair in a cubicle - I can earn from anywhere in the world.

I'm working on learning the world of options trading, and will manage my plays in the market while traveling through various spots on the earth till it's time for the big dirt nap

You will never beat the professional derivatives market-makers, seriously look at learning something much easier like stock-picking which is still incredibly hard. Better yet, invest with some diversified fund managers and focus more on your traveling, reading, getting fitter, playing chess, whatever.

Options costs, fees, commissions, and taxes will eat you alive even if you know what you are doing.

thank you IKE.

I am friends with and speak to a lot of divorced men 45-50+, who totally eschew marriage now. They were divorced raped, or married several times, and want nothing of it. To the extent where they think love is all bullshit and fake. Thats its only ever a value exchange. These aren't chumps either, these are wealthy successful men.

On the other I know a lot of young guys 35-40 who are getting remarried after a failed first marriage. With or without kids. They are charging in with the best of intentions. With much younger wives, much smarter. Maybe a prenup or two. I want to see these guys succeed, despite the odds being so bad for second marriages.

I feel like what you are describing is a woman who isnt afraid to be vulnerable. That is rare these days. And I rarely attract them now, or they are fewer and far between. The only time I have had this recently, a woman that opens herself up, was one I didnt want to be with. Vulnerability is so feared now that I am afraid its all but gone with girls under 35. I too am like you. I talk, and my problem lately is not taking the time to actually get to know the girl. I rush in. She falls in love. Marriage gets thown out there. I do something stupid and we break up. In hindsight the breakups were always a good thing, as if I subconsciously forced her hand.

I would be lying if I said I didnt like female companionship. For me I have waited and didnt rush in again. With game I can literally pick who ever I want again. So we will see. I am in no rush.

I have come to the conclusion that love (at least with an American woman) is a sham. I have seen too many situations where women showed they married for better not for "better or worse." Few women will stick around if a man goes through an extended period of financial hardship and, if they do, they will make it miserable for them man thus compounding his troubles. So, if a woman will likely bolt when the chips are down, why attach yourself to her? I don't plan to go through an extended down period but knowing what I know it is hard for me to take the concept of love with an American woman seriously.

Wow... TheBoom, it's just as if I dictated my life to you there.

At 51, retired.. pension, decent retirement nest egg, no kids, recently divorced.
I thought I had set myself to rule the world. In fact, I set up selling my house,
pared down my belongings, sold my truck, gave away or sold most of my stuff... and said goodbye to the US.

That found me in Poland for 3 months...

But unfortunately, my elderly Father got sick, and I chose to return. I could always
leave again, but if Dad passed, I could not forgive myself.

Turns out, I needed to tie up more loose ends, that my ex could not (would not do)

I will leave again first of the year. Where? Not sure... But I KNOW finding anything
worthy here, is not in my cards. I don't have the desire anymore. My US life has left me too jaded to continue here.

My attitude towards women is changed.. to say the least.

I seek a silver lining.

Any of you go to these chain gyms or fitness clubs?

I am thinking of joining a LA fitness, I did a week pass and I must say the talent was decent.

I see some potential.

I must be the only man in his fifties in American who has no intention of ever retiring. I hike six miles a day, freelance write and run a small company. Yes, I have some other income too, as do many men my age. I see these fat, old retired guys at the local farmer's marked sitting on their ass in sweat pants every time I go there and they disgust me.

Well, I'm lucky at least with one regard. I don't look like other guys that are my age.

I see guys in their middle age that look so fucking bad. I'm like, "This guy is MY age? Holy shit!" They're fat, and bald, and wrinkled. Fucking terrible.

I go to Blink Fitness, at $15 a month, it's totally worth it and plenty of eye candy.

The talent that I see at my chain gym in the UK is often the most attractive that I see anywhere.

I do wish I spent more time in gyms in my 20s than in bars and nightclubs where the women were mostly unattractive but pumped up with cheap and drunken male attention.

there is some debate whether or not gym game is possible and not counter-productive because gym hypergamy means that the most attractive women are with men who look like Greek gods.

I hear going to gym classes and gradually building up an acquaintanceship is the way to go.

I pull from time to time from every gym I have ever belonged to. Its pretty easy, but I usually end up with the trainers because I develop a rapport with them over time. Its easy to get a number in a gym, but I dont like to shit where I eat, but the trainers are discrete because its their job.

You read my mind Rude. I go to a semi private gym populated by older guys. I want to check out a L.A. Fitness type place just to get a better selection.

^ Yeah Vin - spoke to an older guy who trains there, he goes to the different locations to scout the talent.

He was telling me he was working out with a girl, she told him that she liked some 70 yr old guy that trained there. He was in good shape of course, but goes to show you.

As a older guy, you have to be in good shape. Get rid of that belly guys!

Agreed, being in shape and not having the dad bod is critical if you want to meet younger chicks. That said, the gym is the one place I just have a total mental block in terms of meeting chicks. Maybe it's because I'm to focused on working out or that I don't want to disturb anyone else who is working out but I hate socializing at the gym. Just can't do it for whatever reason. Props to you guys who pick up chicks in the gym because I sure can't.

Back in the U.S.A., after Europe:
Over 50, I am increasingly considering lone wolf night game approaching here in the States to be somewhat futile , working too hard against the grain, unless targeting a known, mixed-age venue. It used to be you could just sit and nurse a beer, have a smoke either inside or outside (additional approach ops) and wait for opportunities.
Now it seems necessary to do any approach within 15 minutes. Not easy to linger at a bar here.

Hell no. I'm 29 and getting sick of the scene. I go to bars three, four times a month now. I used to do that in a week.

If I was 50 and lonely, first I would cry and drink alone. But then when that doesn't work I'd go to the old people bar where they serve peanuts in a communal bowl. There's bound to be old ladies just like myself looking for a rogering.

Perhaps i'd volunteer and join a book club.

Hahahha, thanks Roosh! Wink

I've never had a job I liked. I enjoyed part of my work day some days, but was never eager to go to work.

I've always been interested in playing music, writing, things that generally don't make money. I view the time working as the wasted time ( except in the sense it's a moral obligation since society depends on all our contributions), so I didn't think in terms of "retirement" but of saving enough money to do what I want. I got a small government pension and an emergency fund and now I just about live.

I am not so sure about the grey hair. It might depend on the age bracket. 25+ yes - 18-25 maybe not so much.

I know one older guy in shape who is 55 and picks up 20yo student girls. He is rich and he colors his hair almost completely, but leaves the temples grey. He would be totally grey by that age. He does some Botox. His wife knows that he is cheating on her, but she lets it slide, since he is also a great family man.

Still - I am not so sure about this one. I see more of the older attractive men out there completely coloring their hair and usually it makes them appear younger. Most of Hollywood does it for a good reason.

Honestly past 50 or approaching 60, then you can leave grey temples, but when younger, then you should color it - especially if you want to fuck 18-25 year olds.
