The people with level 4000 Pokemon (which I haven't seen) are using bot programs.

The cheaters ruined the game for me so I quit on Wednesday. Plus it was too addictive for me.

Now I'm using that time on tinder instead and the results will be more satisfying

I get the addictive aspect because initially I only intended to play when my GF was around to make it a kind of team activity, but I find myself playing for short periods when she is not around.. it is quite addictive and tempting to see what pokemon are in a given area when traveling.

Regarding your other points, shouldn't this Pokemon help to teach us more about real life and how not to be overly competitive, since there are cheaters and unfairness in the real world, too?

Why would everyone bother running to the same spot?

I could understand why you might try to outpace ten or twenty people, but if there are literally hundreds of people in front of you then WTF is the point?

Disturbingly this scene reminded me of World War Z. You have to wonder if a mob moving like that could spark a panic leading to stampede. Who knows. A car backfires and several women scream. Next thing you know the news is reporting dozens of people trampled to death.

The new version doesn't let rooted phones log in,apparently many people aren't happy about it.

^^ that as well as blocking ads. Rooting is very useful for a myriad of things.

They probably did that to avoid gps spoofing. i give it a few days before someone over at xda blocks the root checking.

Maybe I do not have a very good measure of this, but I still see people playing a lot.. sure the time of the day may cause variance, but seems to be a pretty big hobby. I am in the Los Angeles area, and maybe it is the weather - though at this time of the year, there is decent weather in most places of the country.

Also, at the various gyms, there tend to be higher and higher levels of pokemon that are stationed there, which to me seems to be a sign that there are still quite a few folks playing the game - and not just various tech nerds.

If I go to a tourist area, gosh, the numbers of folks playing really seems to increase, so I don't see this thing dying any time soon, even though there could be areas in which fewer folks are playing.

It's dead in ny city too. I can't help but laugh at the people who claim that the game changed their life. Ive had people run in my job claiming how the game is the second coming; how they lost weight, met new friends, and explored new places in the city.
