I downloaded and tried to play this game, see what all the fuss was about. BORING. To be fair, I only played probably a total of 30 minutes over the span of 3 attempts but immediately bored each time.

There's no story, you just start and walk around. Idk if my phone gps is shit but I wouldn't even move and the animation was walking in multiple directions. Threw 20 poke balls at a zubat and it wouldn't even contact it to try to catch it.

I personally am recognizing one of my weaknesses, and that is various kinds of video games. Sometimes, I just cannot stop, once I get started and my mind begins to accept it as an "o.k." activity. I get sucked in...

By the way, the last time I had a cigarette was in 2003, and every once in a while I crave nicotine of some sort because I had chewed tobacco and smoked (mostly in the closet or when I drank) for well over 20 years before that time... I just completely refuse to take a drag off of a cigarette or a chew of tobacco these days when I am offered.. I even refused cigars and pipes, even though I have been quite tempted on a large number of occasions. I guess I have become a kind of prude in regards to that recognized physical addiction (which also has a kind of mental component).

The thing is my case is, if I like a game I put effort into beating it, I like puzzle games, I was playing old Tomb Raider games which have lots of puzzles in them, I like to beat puzzles on my own without watching tutorials but I m aware of how relative time is when playing, if I do not pay attention I could spend a hour figuring out how to solve puzzles.

Is easy when as a kid without worrying about adults stuff, in the 90s I could spend all night up to 3:00 AM playing Super Nintendo, but if I do that now I know I will not have energy for the morning workout.

Actually, yes....they do have the right to do things that other people find annoying and even dangerous up to a certain point. You are making the exact same argument that lefties use to justify greater government regulation or crackdowns on "hate speech". Of course that does not mean they should do those things but they definitely have a want to go any dangerous spot they want, provided it is publicly accessible, while chasing imaginary creatures.


As far as the risk I am kinda "meh" on that. Then again this is coming from someone who does boxing, skiing, and is a "Harley Enthusiast"(SoA reference and a hint) so I do not really have a problem with taking some level of risk myself. You are not going to have much fun in life if you don't take some level of risk and make sure you properly mitigate those risks.

Zubats are farther up on the screen than most, you need to not use your thumb, use your index and give the ball a nice quick / long drag, no spin. Took me a while to consistently catch zubats

I've been playing this for about 10 days via an APK file. I would say the population of players is about 75% male and about 80% of players are 18-30. Contrary to what I expected the population of players I've interacted with have mostly been normal people from a variety of backgrounds and not hardcore gamers by any means.

If you want to be good at it quickly and try to use that angle. Heres what to do.

Catch everything. Do not evolve without using a lucky egg first (2x). Do not do 2 stage evolutions. Do Pidgey --> Pidgeotto not Pidgey --> Pidgeotto --> Pidgeot. You get 1000 xp per evolution regardless of whether you do Pidgey --> Pidgeotto (12 candies) or Pidgeotto --> Pidgeot (50 candies)

Any pokemon you get will suck before level 20 or so and use too much star dust to level up. Focus on leveling up as fast as possible then on pokemon.

Where there are pink pedals falling from a poke stop there is a lure module. This is where people congregate. Why? Because pokemon come to you rather than the other way around. Surrounding yourself by 2 or 3 of these within the circular distance of your GPS on Pokemon go is the easiest way to catch a lot of pokemon and level up. It's also the easiest way to meet people.

My recommendation is to pick Red or Blue. Population of each is probably 40% and 40%. Yellow is probably 20%. Why this matters? It's easy to suggest to go takeover a gym with someone of the same team. That usually recalls walking and a location switch. Meet at lure --> go takeover a gym.

This is why you'll probably want to be a reasonable level. If you go with someone trying to take over a gym and she sees you using a CP 100 weedle...

It's very easy to get to level 20 where a soft cap exists. I got to level 23 in a week without going overly hard. Simply walked a lot which I enjoyed and then sat around under lure modules when people dropped them chatting to people. Total time invested was probably about 20 hours. Now I can just coast, hit up a lure when I feel like it, go challenge gyms when I want.

For those of you who want to quickly be competitive. Spend on lucky eggs... 2x XP makes everything much faster. Lures are also beneficial for those who don't have easy access to a city where lures will be dropped by other people all day.

I started the game, hit the Google button, and was redirected to log in. Normally you’d see a little message saying what data the app is going to be able to access - something like “This app will be able to view your email address and name”. For some reason that’s not shown in this case, but I went ahead and logged in anyway. Then on a whim I went to see which permissions it was granted (you can see for your own account right here). To say I was a little stunned is putting it lightly - it said:

Pokemon Go has full access to your Google account

Here are a couple of excerpts from the Google help page about what this means:

When you grant full account access, the application can see and modify nearly all information in your Google Account

This “Full account access” privilege should only be granted to applications you fully trust, and which are installed on your personal computer, phone, or tablet.

Let me be clear - Pokemon Go and Niantic can now:

• Read all your email
• Send email as you
• Access all your Google drive documents (including deleting them)
• Look at your search history and your Maps navigation history
• Access any private photos you may store in Google Photos

What’s more, given the use of email as an authentication mechanism (think “Forgot password” links) they now have a pretty good chance of gaining access to your accounts on other sites too.

And they have no need to do this - when a developer sets up the “Sign in with Google” functionality they specify what level of access they want - best practices (and simple logic) dictate you ask for the minimum you actually need, which is usually just simple contact information.

Now, I obviously don’t think Niantic are planning some global personal information heist. This is probably just the result of epic carelessness. But I don’t know anything about Niantic’s security policies. I don’t know how well they will guard this awesome new power they’ve granted themselves, and frankly I don’t trust them at all. I’ve revoked their access to my account, and deleted the app. I really wish I could play, it looks like great fun, but there’s no way it’s worth the risk.

You could control the course of an election by putting rare Pokemon right near polling places on voting day.
It would be totally legal, and you could even frame it as a get-out-the-vote effort. The demographics of Pokemon go players are such that if they turned out in large numbers they could sway an election to the left.

The whole point of the Pokemon Go phenomenon is to sway the election for Clinton.

I just tried it out this morning after my morning language study while waiting for the supermarket to open.

Eh,I understand it is in beta stage but I found it fairly uninteresting,just a similar dissapointment to what i felt playing Stadiumn for the Wii,or indeed most cookie cutter mmorpgs back in my gaming days of youth.
Custmization was poor (again,I understand its beta stage but c'mon even the sims 1 initial release had more of this) and thoughI understand ist more about the game teh mechanics didnt interest me much.


Again,Im not bashing teh game or its players and I think its great it sort of spawned its own trend and from a social point of veiw it is something worth researching.

Maybe i d try it again when it has more developmentm,but most likely than not I'll stick to training my own pet
