Vox Day had a pretty good interview about this on the Tom Woods podcast. He said that the reason why the right mocking the left with the term "SJW" gets the liberals riled up is because they take social justice seriously. They view themselves in a self righteous light.

So when you mock their own terms and social causes they go bananas over it. It's all about ownership over language and terms. If you take something they hold sacred and make it a term of derision and mockery then that's what pisses them off the most.

Stuff that makes light of their life experiences always pisses them off too. They try to hold onto victim complexes but when you just call them out on being bored suburban kids they go into fits.

So whatever catch-all term is used, would benefit from having an unsavoury element of truth to it.

Something along the lines of - 'self-loathing, control freak'. Yet more succinct.

I don't like "cry bully". The "cry" part is ok but "bully" suggests that a person is powerful and can push you around. Not a good way to portray an enemy.

I think you need a term to link them with socialism and communism. Socialism and communism are still dirty words. Even socialists and communists generally don't want to openly state that they are socialists and communists. In fact, if you call them a socialist or communist most while deny that they are and it puts them on the defensive. And leftists hate having to defend and justify socialism.

In fact, communist movements like Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter prefer to use "democracy" or "democratic control" and avoid mentioning "socialism" or "communism" as much as possible, even though they clearly support it.

You are missing a good opportunity to automatically discredit their views and put them on the defensive by not linking them with socialism and communism.

I prefer progressive to "liberal" anyway, since American liberals aren't really liberal in the classical sense - they're more along the lines of left-wing nationalists or democratic socialists and borrow much of their philosophy from Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill (both of whom opposed the Founding Fathers during the American revolution and more or less said that Constitutional rights were nonsense). In most of the rest of the world, I believe "liberal" refers more to fiscally liberal (aka libertarian) rather than progressive or democratic socialist.

Ironically though even Mill was against the notion of "hate speech" because he feared it could be used to censor opposing views. So maybe cultural Marxist is a good term for the radical left in America.

I believe in European politics they also tend to make a distinction between liberal vs Marxist/leftist as well whereas in America the two are lumped together. I was also thinking about it. In the Netherlands and Dutch language, the word 'liberaal' stands for freedom (of course the US word as well, but as stated in OP, its a misnomer. As in liberty of course).

They stand for economic and social freedom. As in, a small government and freedom to are or believe what you want but also freedom for business. 'LIberalen' in the Netherlands are considered somewhat right wing. The liberal party is considered 'rightist' by socialists (Leftists). I also don't like the word 'socialists', though, because it could imply that they are social, but we here know differently.

'Liberals' as in the US sense of the word, don't seem to meet that 'small government' description.
