Yeah...Michael Strahan, whose wife famously took HIM to the cleaners! He's still doing okay for himself, but point taken - he's not Eddie Murphy at his peak level. However, he is reasonably famous. Chicks like that notoriously hunt actors or athletes. And she still looks good, so if they modify their expectations, they'll still get a reasonably famous, good looking dude to sport and fuck them even at her age.

If he's not in a position to walk into a high-paying media gig or have a business set up, he ends up dead broke in a few years because there's still child support and his own living expenses (which will still be high, because it's hard to give up that lifestyle). My guess is this won't happen to Kobe, but he NEVER should have married her, or at least not at the age he did.

Any girl at that shoot should've been considered slut material just for being there! His arrogance is is why he's in this mess. Actually, he should've just lied and told her that there were clauses in his salary or endorsement contracts that made it mandatory for him to sign a pre-nupt. This retired partner at a major (top 5) American law firm successfully applied a very similar strategy.

Long story short: He retired from the firm with a net worth in the tens of millions and annual retirement income of $1.8 million. He married a Brazilian model and jumped ship when things weren't working out. She left with only $50,000 thanks to a strong pre-nup with dated escalators. All of her challenges failed as well.

Like I said in another thread, guys: marry late and get a strong, ironclad pre-nup in a state that respects them. That's as safe as you'll get in the USA. One of Eddie's funniest stage routines was about when Johnny Carson had to cough up several hundred million in his divorce. He was engaged at that time to a fine Puerto Rican chick, but when he saw what that divorce cost (half of Carson's worth), he called it off. He talked about going to Africa to find a "buck-naked zebra bitch with a bone in her nose and a plate in her lip" who didn't know who he was, so he could bring her back and marry her. Kobe met his wife AFTER he was already well-known as a Laker. I don't really see what she brought to the table honestly. She didn't seem like she had a whole lot going on for herself, aside from her looks (which isn't the best Kobe could do anyway).

If I know at 21 what I know now...I would have done many many things differently. I'm sure it's the same for most.

I think we can cut Kobe some slack, he was very young when he made that decision. Besides, Kobe is the ultimate alpha...nobody is going to talk any sense into him when he's hellbent on something. I definitely respect that about him.
