In light of this thread I watched Gorilla videos on youtube for the about 30 minutes. Silverbacks are terrifying animals. They are so huge, strong, imposing, and relatively unpredictable. Don't let there human-like appearance fool you. These can be extremely violent and powerful beasts.

Gorilla gender dynamics remind me a lot of cows. Females are generally docile and friendly, especially with humans. While the males are powerful, fast, hyper aggressive.

I'd also like to point out, that videos like this and many other encounters of violent wildlife really goes to show you that pound-for-pound humans are some of the weakest animals on earth. I also read that for smaller primates their first attack move is often to go for the groin with their sharp ass teeth.

This has got me curious about human strength compared to Chimpanzees, out closest genetic relative in the animal kingdom.

It seems realistically, chimps are about twice as strong as humans. Part of this is contributing to a mere slight difference in genetic makeup and body structure. Another interesting factor is motor neurons and gray matter:

Now, I have seen plenty of videos of chimps and gorillas being "gentle" and exhibiting focused control over their muscles, but it makes a lot of sense to me that engaging all of your muscle fibers is more difficult for humans. Something we typically can only do in a heightened state with our heart rate up and adrenaline pumping through our veins. Engaging all of your muscle fibers is the key to unlocking your true physical potential as a human being. Something Elliot Hulse has talked about before too. He even has a video where he talks about gaining mass simply by force flexing and mentally enlisting as many fo your fibers to fire off as possible.

The zoo is very lucky if they don't get sued. How the fuck do you not make the gorilla enclosure child-proof.

C'mon man. Zoos are great. For children they are a magical place. It's also a good place to bring Asian girls for a daytime date. I remember taking a train to the big city as a kid and visiting a zoo for the first time and seeing all the animals I had seen on TV, and it was one of my most memorable childhood experiences.

And there's no way that zoo animals live shorter lives than in the wild, with the expert veterinary care, abundant food and lack of predators.

Not to mention the inter-zoo breeding programmes that ensure when the last black rhino in the wild is killed for its horn to cure an old Chinese man's impotence, the species will still live on in captivity.
