You have to show her your cool side first, only after she is already attracted can she know about a weird hobby. As long as the rest of your game / life is tight then an anti social hobby won't ruin it. If they are already attracted to you, they rationalize your weird hobby as something endearing and quirky. If they're not attracted to you, then your hobby goes into the 'creepy' category.

For any intellectual, introverted man this is difficult because women need constant social stimulation. Higher end girls with busy social lives and constant texting, frankly, is a shitload of work to keep her engaged in your life. You have to be a highlight reel of social value and events. fuck that.

Women love rock climbers for some reason, even though it's boring as fuck to watch.

I don't agree with the defeatist tone of OP. No pursuits are anti-pussy, unless you hobby is having sex with men.

As has been echoed by many here, and most eloquently by Tex, there are groupies in every niche really. And portrayed the right way, any hobby can seem interesting. If you have a way with words, you can make stamp collecting sound intriguing.

That said, the topic of intent is an interesting one.

The best example is lifting weights.

A lot of men go to the gym for the sole purpose of looking good to better attract women. While that is certainly a means to an end, something as fundamental as physical self-improvement should not be wasted on such shallow endeavors. I also think there are a lot of men who start working out to look more attractive and end up falling in love with the process and lifestyle of taking care of your body and getting in shape - although more still never leave the shallow end of the pool.

My biggest passion has always been music, and there are plenty of dudes who get into music with hopes of being in a band that gets popular so they can be in the spot light and get lots of women. Again, though legitimate, that is a shallow pursuit in a medium that can be far more encompassing and fulfilling. A lot of my artistic pursuits are just for myself. Exploring my own mind, expressing myself in private, improving my skill with an instrument, learning a new skill, trick, or process to get to the next level of personal development in a given craft. Even when I've played shows and gone on tour, most of the time the crowd didn't matter - all that registered was what was going through my mind and coming out of my mouth. How I felt and how I wanted to express it.

A genuine interest, a passion should not be defined by whether or not you can get laid with it. Not saying OP was insinuating this, but the topic went what way so I'm rolling with it. Something you love to do should be pursued for yourself and yourself only. Something that make you grow as a person mentally, physically, and spiritually if you believe in that sort of thing.

You have to approach the situation subtly. Maybe casually reference some gaming lingo or casually reference famous moments in anime and such. but your solid game is what is going to carry that situation, not the fact that you like anime.

You will be a breath of fresh air to her. Remember, a lot of girls talk about gaming and anime as beta bait. They want to get you to do that "OMG ANIME!" thing so they can next you like all the other orbiters, but avoid that.


Biceps help picking up the fitness chick, but you better be able to spit some verbal game.

Like I already said, don't think about hobbies as (beta). I refuse to buy into the idea that some hobbies are somehow beta.

There are a number of guys here who have their lives on lock:

lifestyle? Check.

Girls? Check.

Logistics? Check.

And they have "beta" hobbies that don't involve girls.

Those hobbies add flavor to you and make you different from the dudes who just watch monday night ball and hit up the club with their 5 bros every saturday.

There is a female groupie for almost every hobby. Shit I was curious about D&D and watched some of my nerdier friends play and some of the hipster broads playing weren't half bad looking.

Definitely some 6-7s in that crowd.

Even all male spaces like cigar lounges with hardcore cigar aficionados tend to have female groupies involved with them. Occasionally a lounge would throw a party(birthday or otherwise) where everyone brought their girls or just girls in general.

And any girl that comes to hang out with a bunch of dudes smoking cigars definitely loves the smell just as much as your favorite cologne.

On video games, there's plenty of female Twitch stars whom show off their tits essentially on livestream to attention whore for male attention which is catching on in the general populace. So all the not as attractive girls are using the gamer girl moniker as one of their supposed hobbies.


Also girls who watch anime are crazier than the average girl. Either that or a she beast.

- where the chicks are
- where you have an advantage over other guys

Practice
- finding these concentrations
- looking to come in on top, or get close to the top of the hierarchy
- using your position to pull.

In general, most of these "hobbies" that girls are into, don't seem like hobbies to me. Stamp collecting, rock climbing, working on vintage motorcycles, brewing beer - Men's hobbies tend to be very maker oriented/very functional. If a dude tells me he's into X, I have a good idea of what that Is. Women's hobbies are much more "intangible".

Physical
- Yoga/pilates classes - if you teach the class you have a serious advantage
- Personal training - Your students are easy prey.

*I don't actually recommend co-ed sports mainly because a whole lot of other guys that are younger and stronger than you will turn a fun game of kickball into Super Bowl Serious.

Skill Based
- Teaching a language class - preferably a language that girls want to learn, like French

Traditionally feminine pursuits
- Cooking, sewing, design - Any of those kinds of classes are full of women. It's hard to have the power advantage because of the instructor, but if you employ the Tao of Steve - "Be seen being excellent"

- Dancing - Dance classes are full of chicks. It's way easier to pull a non-Latina girl learning Salsa at a Salsa Class, than to try to go to a legit salsa venue and dance there. It's night and day. Swing, Samba, Ball Room...pretty much anything involving a partner.

- Art - dance/ballet/theater/music/visual art/sculpture and especially fashion attracts chicks in droves (esp with Free wine). This is more of a "scene" play.

Intellectual
- Poetry/literature/book clubs - depending on the topic, this is a gold mine for the post college set. Wine is almost always a big feature here.

Social Climbing
- Charity events and the like - It's like party promoting for the blue bloods, but you get a lot of chicks interested in "causes". Putting yourself in her social circle allows you to do things you wouldn't be able to do if you met her at club.

- Networking events - These are mixers straight up, but you can't show up and run game - you need to infiltrate the staff as a volunteer, and play connector. This is about building your social network as well.

- Political Events - Pretty much any popular cause is gonna attract motivated members. Pro-Choice/Pro-Life groups are full of chicks, some not so hideous as you imagine.

I think the real key to finding these pristine areas of female concentration is that you have to take more of a social approach, than the lone gunman sniper/hacker approach of night game and online game.

There's a lot of "cool" shit that guys are in to, that bitches don't give a fuck about.
- pretty much every sport
- anything related to machines/electronics
- anything that rewards arcane knowledge or stats - like collecting

Presented to your FB/FWB/GF/LTR - they can learn to like it, but it's not like they're running out to sit in a deer blind waiting for a ten point buck.

So in a date situation, she'll love the guns, love a shooting range.
But if you go to a gun show or hunting expo, no bitches.

Lately I'm of the personal opinion to stop judging "hobbies" so much.

I think certain hobbies tend to attract "beta males" but the hobby doesn't make the man; it's more or less correlation/causation.

It makes sense that hobbies that don't require much physical fitness or social interaction (like MMOGaming) might attract more "beta types", than hobbies like... MMA or boxing, sure but the hobby isn't what "turns him into" a beta.

Off the top of my head for example, John Romero was a video game programmer who designed games like Doom and he dated a Playboy model. The fact that he was a "nerdy programmer" didn't stop him from getting a hot girlfriend.

Personal opinion is that a guy should find something he really loves and be the best at it, and this is where his confidence will come from; rather than try to attract women by just "picking the coolest hobby", that just seems too insecure and not a great way to plan one's life IMO.

(What I've noticed on the other extreme is that betas tend to settle for the "easiest" hobbies which require the least risk taking; a lot of betas aren't really that "passionate" about the hours they put into WoW; they just settle for it out of boardem because they're too lazy to learn anything else).

Personal opinion on "cool vs square/nerdy" hobbies is that if a guy lacks game a "cool hobby" can be a substitute when it comes to get attention from women (ex. one time after a Taekwondo class I stopped by the bar on my way home in my uniform and a cute girl approached and went home with me right away).

Ultimately though if a guy has good game and inner confidence he won't need a "cool hobby".

Kind of like a "looks vs game thing".

This is interesting to me because I played poker for a job; it usually brings either utter disdain or incredible interest from women that I talk to. Generally, the younger set is into it (this is changing as poker has been less popular), but the older crowd hates it because it's seen as reckless and goes against provider game.

If they see me in action, it's both good and bad. Playing poker requires incredible emotional control, and that's good. However, when they see the actual people who spend their lives playing poker in a casino, it's a huge turn off, though this can be mitigated by having a clearly awesome lifestyle and making it clear that poker is a job, not a lifestyle.

The other problem is if they have no idea how to play and they see you getting pummeled day in and day out for a month, they think you are just a crazy gambling junky. You really need to not discuss your results unless the girl is really smart.

I guess that was a lot of words to say that poker can go either way. I definitely missed out on some decent girls by being truthful-- it just isn't a career that offers any social power, and my "advancement" is completely self-determined and invisible.

Here's another way to think of it:

Some hobbies more or less naturally require a guy to have alpha or leadership skills (ex. a guy who's afraid to take any risks could never drive a race car or be a MMA fighter); ultimately the hobby isn't what "makes him alpha" though, he was alpha before he started it.

Hobbies like video gaming, role playing games, which have a very low "entry level" almost any guy can do tend to attract beta and risk-adverse types; but not every guy who does those hobbies is automatically a "beta" however. Being a beta or an alpha is ultimately about "how one acts" not "what one does".

Fuck that shit. I play computer game a lot even when I was heavy into game. It definitely helps with stress if played in moderation. In my free time I go gym, aikido, day game and latin dancing. Except for my girlfriend none of my lay or FWB ever even knew I play PC game.

Do whatever you want to do, but like WIA said, don't complain if you suddenly lose all your swag to talk a chick up.

I work with multiple "grown men" in their 20s and 30s that still play Pokemon and Magic the Gathering regularly. One of them is actually fairly highly placed too. I'm 99% certain he is in a lavender marriage.

Even the guys that play D&D look down on the card game guys. I work with a lot of programmers, network admins and engineers. Learning about their byzantine nerd hierarchy has been odd. They all look down on the fur-suit people and the bronies. The fur-suit people and the bronies are each convinced the other is the very bottom of the pile. I play card games and give 0 fucks what anyone thinks. Those guys don't pay my bills, get me laid or do anything for my wellbeing, so their opinions mean shit to me. I agree that most hobbies won't affect game if done in a masculine way.

The exception is the anti social hobbies.. They are pretty taxing on most other elements of your life. One of my close friends use to be outgoing, good company and had plenty of friends/chick options then became socially weird and hopeless with the ladies once he started spending the majority of his spare time playing online computer games and spent remainder of his spare time watching comic cartoons and other trash. 8 months later he made out with rubbish girl at a festival and he clung to her so tight, she was banging her ex bf even while he was taking her on weekly dates.. When I told him to brush her if she doesn't shape up he literally said to me "I'm scared I'll lose her"

Anti social hobbies (tv, video games) = poor social skills = less friends and female options = low self esteem = weak beta behavior

I was into computer gaming when I was younger, but I sort of grew out of it. It started to feel like everything was a rehash of something I'd already seen, except with prettier graphics that required more and more expensive equipment to run. And as you get older you feel like every minute you spend playing a video game is time that could be better spent elsewhere, even if that's just listening to classic rock and having a gin and tonic. Life doesn't feel as long.

Very much like porn, I feel like video games are an anti-game and anti-life pasttime.

My main laptop cost me 200 bucks and does everything I want it to since I don't care about playing games.

Oh man, you speak my words. I would still play a game if it's something in the quality of L.A. Noire but it has to have a definite end. All those strategies, online and multiplayer games are a never-ending leach sucking the life out of you.

Exactly. I was into cars since I was a wee boy. I've tried it in almost any way possible: I was a car jurno for a number of years, road tested them, photographed them, visited various trade shows and after all that high profile stuff I wanted to get down to earth and learn to work on and modify them. When you take apart the whole thing and reassemble it your satisfaction levels go through the roof, you feel like a proud father as all your blood, sweat and tears are justified when you turn the key, drive it, see it living and breathing. After hitting many character testing difficulties and learning how to deal with them I feel it boosted my masculinity. Now no matter what problem I run into I know I can impose my full will on it, make it work. All of this I've done purely for my satisfaction, to further my passion and it turned out to be a huge benefit. It translated into other aspects of my life. The funny thing is I would never use my cars to game pussy, I feel it would be a disgrace to the knowledge and skill that gone into building them and degrade the whole experience. I'm leaving that to the poseur-type 'users' who see cars as status symbols. I've completely separated cars from women, they don't mix because I want to fully focus on/appreciate one and I can't if the other is involved, i.e. you won't find any girls on my garage walls, when I go to races, chicks are transparent and conversely, when I chase tail, cars are non-existent.

Next step for me: competing in motorsport.

I was always someone who had a lot of hobbies and round about when I turned 20 I deliberately weaned myself suddenly off them, in particular the model aircraft in the name of poon. Years later, I had a girlfriend and secretly bought some model planes while I was with her and started flying them again. Caused a lot of tension, she felt they were competing with her.

It is a problem hobby, I have to admit, cause for some reason it is pursued by men in their 60s, 70s and older. You're out there with a bunch of old farts staring into the sky.. Will say there was a guy at one place I used to fly slope soarers who would bring his girlfriend with and it was an aerobatic stunt thing, she would fly it too. Only on about two other occasions have I ever seen women flying model aircraft.

I think if you are not meeting women and getting laid, it would be healthy to abstain from such hobbies until you are. As we know, we live in a world where what is cool is unfortunately defined by hollywood etc, appearance is everything, uncoolness is (in America) death.

I also used to do a lot of rock climbing - and it never got me laid. Actually, leading a trip up a mountain once did though.. I can lead stuff but am rarely drawn to do it, but it does show when one does do it, it can have certain results. Hmm, maybe I should do more of that..

Pro-poon hobbies. Travel, if you can call that a hobby. Couchsurfing. More sports than hobbies. Possibly music, I'm thinking of joining a choir, not for the poon, but have a feeling it might have some benefits. A cycling tour could be a good one.. Oh, languages have huge benefits if you can make that your hobby.
