That was dumb to remain seated when he was up in his face. The laughing/video guy was a douche as well. Signs had a big backpack and a coat on---the young guy should've bumrushed him. This is why I got my concealed carry license, if this piece of trash walked up to me and got in my face i would have warned him that I am armed and if he touches me I will shoot him to the ground.

Though I have to admit I'm a high T and I'd have trouble maintaining my composure in a situation like that, if he started touching me and getting close to my girlfriend I probably would have stomped his skull into the pavement.

Either way, the kid's reaction in this video was very sad

A few years ago I pulled up outside my gym to meet my younger brother. I got out of the car just as this homeless guy appeared from around the corner and walked over to my brother and started to ask him for money.

Anyway, this homeless dude was drunk as fuck, like they always are in my city. My brother was clearly nervous about this, so I approached at a right angle, just in case.

I firmly told the guy to fuck off. He duly complied.

Anyway, I turned to look at where my brother had been 5 seconds earlier and he had somehow teleported himself directly behind me.

It was at that moment that I knew never to get into a scrap and expect him to be of any use whatsoever.

^ I have been really working on relaxing my posture and letting all my upper torso weight rest shoulder back. It also fixed a problem with my right foot where I wasn't putting weight distribution on it evenly. I thought I had a problem with nerves in my toes. Nope must have been just walking like a retard. Drumming fucked up my posture and right shoulder so still fixing it.

To do this and completely hang down your spine like a puppet string and let your shoulders rest back in complete relaxation you really need a wide strong stance and be aware of your core to handle all the weight without tension.

When I stand in the elevator at my workplace I can see women looking up at me with a curious glance like a half way between "who do you think you are?" and "wow he is tall and has good posture".

Women these days at least where I live I think instinctively expect you as a man to slink into the corner and lean against the wall of the elevator making sure she has enough room to get out first. I stand near the front by the door like a dick. I think it confuses them. I like it.

It is amazing how connected the mind and body are. Yoga really started to connect these dots for me.

In reality the beta dude actually did pretty good at avoiding conflict and diffusing the situation. Of course he didn't do that by his own design, it's in his nature.
You get a drunk homeless dude and a beta in a fight and between them they will probably sort something out because they're on the same wavelength.

The purpose of carrying a firearm is to have the ability to defend yourself against the threat of imminent death or grave bodily harm.

Carrying a firearm doesn't mean you are 10 feet tall. It doesn't mean you should take more risks, become more bold, get into more arguments.

When you carry you should be actively avoiding confrontations, bad situations, bad areas- even more so compared to when you are not armed.

Regarding thumbs/pockets: according to Joe Navarro (interesting books, guy was an FBI body language interpreter, there is a thread about him on here somewhere) keeping thumbs out, hands inside pockets is an indicator of dominance. The reverse (thumbs in pocket, hand out) he describes as a sign of insecurity. Not a hard science, of course but still odd in this case

You have the benefit of hindsight because the video ended without the bum throwing a punch.

So, for arguments sake, we'll put you in the shoes of the beta.
Do you flash/draw when the bum is screaming at you from ten feet?
Do you flash/draw when the bum is advancing on you aggressively?
Do you flash/draw when the bum is over the top of you shouting full spectrum hepatitis spit into your eyes?
Do you attempt to flash/draw in the split second it takes for the bum, now at nose to nose distance, to smash his AIDS infected scabrous knuckles into your now mangled eye socket?

If you are not willing to flash/draw pre-emptively in a situation like this then you should not be carrying a gun at all, because unless you're planning on doing a Zimmerman then your gun is going to end up the property of some homeless lunatic.

The beta is just doing what betas do, he doesn't deserve an ass beating although he definitely needs to lift. Maybe this experience will do him some good.
