The effects aren't even great. The original Ghostbusters had groundbreaking FX for the time. And the women are all doing the same SNL-style, barely-committed-to-the-part acting.

Notice the way the audience has to be told the women are qualified - "You're a brilliant engineer", "No one is better at quantum physics than you". We can't just discover that by their actions on screen.

I was looking at the imdb cast list for ghostbusters and for a minute there I thought you were serious and thought maybe I missed the fact that the guy who plays Omar Little in the wire (Michael Kenneth Williams) put on a wig and became the 4th "female" cast member.

Holy dogshit, that trailer looked like garbage.

Refreshing to see it getting panned hard in the comments and more thumbs down vs thumbs up.

Ghostbusters for many men, especially those that grew up on it, has a special place in their respective hearts and enormous nostalgic value. This movie just took a giant dump on that.

Who ever greenlighted this at the studio is about to get fired. I really hope someone else gets the rights and makes a proper Ghostbusters sequel. Imagine a Ghostbusters with Bill Burr and some actual funny comedians in it.

Surprise surprise, apparently this movie still isn't progressive enough for some people on twitter! Leslie Jones plays the exact same character she has played in every single sketch and comedy she's ever done, and it's exactly like the dynamic was in the first movie...OUTRAGE! Nothing is ever good enough for these ravenous SJW lunatics, even for a movie aimed directly at them.

However, some fans have highlighted a problem within the film's casting; the combination of three white, educated scientist characters played against a black character who is seen to rely on "street smarts". It's a combination which unfortunately slides towards the usual, tired cinematic stereotypes when it comes to race, as many on social media have pointed out.

Feig's intentions with Leslie Jones' character seem pretty clear, marking a deliberate hark back to the dynamics of the 1984 classic; where Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis played scientists to Ernie Hudson's civilian character.

However, there's no particular reason to maintain the exact dynamics of the original, specifically when it came to the position of race within the film.

Hopefully, this trailer provides only a brief glimpse of a far more expansive narrative; and, considering Jones' is a regular SNL highlight, hopefully the team have got something a lot more interesting cooked up for her in the final film.

With the negativity this film has accrued since inception; I wouldn't be surprised if they struggle to do well.
Taking a quick look at the films release date & it's competition, there's not much else being released at that time.
Yet on the other hand, Zoolander 2 is struggling. Dirty Grandpa is struggling. Daddy's Home has done fairly well, but not amazingly.
Not to mention - How to Be Single, has yet to set the world on fire.

The last Paul Feig / McCarthy film - Spy, wound up making $235mil.
$235mil without a poor reception from the outset.
