One recent prime example of a movie with a unrealistic plot that could have been salvaged with a hot and occasionally naked female lead is Non-Stop.

In this film, instead of getting an attractive female lead, we get one who looks like to ran into the wall face first.



Despite the Daily Mail claiming that 53-year old Julianne Moore looked like a woman half her age at the film's premiere, the photo accompanying the article suggests otherwise.



All that I can see, is that even with plenty of money for plastic surgery and make-up artists, she still can't pass as even a 40 year old.

As a final kick in the balls to men everywhere, the conclusion of the movie suggests that Grandma Moore is the sort of woman that a man with all the dark triad potential of Liam Neeson should be happy to have in his life.

That's a huge subject. It's deep as a lake. Many like to draw parallels with Vietnam and Iraq veterans and stuff like that. I like the nihilism aspect and the idea that the Wild West never really ended. Violence in America has always made life short here, despite the illusion that this country is safe and the greatest place to live or grow up, etc. James Dean comes to mind with the leave a good looking corpse behind.

There is just so much more to it, but I don't want to hijack the thread with it.

We could probably have a Cohen Brothers thread in the Arts section. I loved NCFOM but I have a special place in my heart for Barton Fink. The layers of that movie are incredible.

If it's suitable to make Ghostbusters with an all-female cast, I propose we remake Thelma & Louise as Theo and Lou. Complete with scenes of one of the protagonists blowing away his friend's divorce-raping, abusive wife, the other protagonist fucking an improbably hot female hitchhiker who then takes their money and runs, and the female detective running after the car at the end of the film begging forgiveness for her and society's actions.

What I don't understand is who finances this shit. It costs tens upon tens of millions of dollars to make big budget movies these days. Also, if this was done right it could spawn a franchise in the same vein as other movies that are made to appeal to the childhoods of tail-end generation x and generation y. Transformers and GI Joe are huge specifically because they appeal to younger men in middle school and high school while also appealing to the 20s-30s male crowd who watched the cartoons as children.

Bill Murray seems to have been against a remake. The budget is 150-200 mio. $ easily.

I guess they are feeling powerful enough in girl-proxy to put it an ALL-FEMALE cast as if such a silly crew of a scientist/goofball/womanizer, childlike goofball/scientist, Mr.Spock/scientist & guy who just happened to be looking for a job - truly makes much sense with women at least!
