The low loonie doesn't really help whatever manufacturing is left in Ontario/Quebec anyway because it makes everything else way too expensive for these manufacturers. The Dutch disease crap was always overstated in my opinion. Fact of the matter is manufacturing has hollowed out in Canada (and the US) moving to either Mexico or China/India/Bangladesh/Vietnam etc.

The pain at grocery stores with the low loonie is very real.

What no one in manufacturing here on the west coast wants to admit is that not only has Canadian made products become more expensive but our fragile ego's cant frasp that the quality coming from Mexico and China now surpasses us.

Even their steel quality is up, and if they know our market demands quality they buy raw from Japan, Korea or Taiwan. China: Ore from Australia, Steel from Japan, manufacturing in China, market in NA.

Canada's manufacturing economy cannot compete with some rusty machines from the 1970's and a shit load of Molson arrogance.

I haven't been in Canada since December, but I truly believe in October people didn't vote FOR Liberals, but rather against Tories.

After 10 year of Tory leadership, many people whose life hadn't improved or had stagnated would naturally blame the government and think a new start could improve their lives (Instead of looking at themselves), and Harper's PR skills was massively lacking in this age and era ....in addition to that from 2005 to 2015, the latest generation of leftist indoctrinated youth were raised and were now eligible to vote who are much more likely to vote Liberal and NDP. NDP leader died, and the new one went too balls deep into Niqab defense in addition to a ridiculous economic plan (Not that the Liberal ones isn't), just paved the way for Liberals to win big. Also there was such misinformation about this whole Citizenship repeal act that Harper passed, where it clearly mentioned terrorism and treason, among public it was rumoured that lesser crimes could get you losing your citizenship, which led to many people for whom Canada is a dual citizenship to want rid of that law.

I read the gov't has so far spent $32 MILLION on flights alone of Syrian refugees to Canada, meanwhile the Canadian dollar loses its worth every passing day, and the PM is concerned with "Pinking it Forward" and taking selfies and praying to Allah with Imams that openly advocate child marriage, wife beating....while later at night he comes on TV and says: "We're all feminists!!" . In fact, that world leader Trudeau most reminds me of is the former Iranian president, Ahmadinejad. He was far right to Trudeau's left, but the clown behaviour, trying to fit in with all types and show how he's the "man of the people" reminds of that.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but many younger folks voted for him for the weed promise and his looks. If Harper had a Jude Law look, the Tories would have gathered more votes. That's why it's important that Tories pick their next leader very wisely. The country could be very fucked up by 2019, but it'll be still salvageable.
