A resident brain dump on Jamaica
I'm surprised guys here thinking about jamaica as way to build your empire
it has potential but ill let you guys in on a few things.
Born and live here all my life so no BS
Jamaica believe it or not is very xenophobic meaning the people hate
the 'white man', "Chiney" (chinese), "coolie" (anyone with middle eastern features)
and half Jamaicans or Jamaican by heart, they even started robbing returning residents
who want to retire ffs.
In their eyes these guys are invading the country and buying up the local opportunities
leaving nothing for the "likkle man" ( hustlers) to thrive on which is not entirely true many opportunities exist here in jamaica (first world millions ones) but it requires ingenuity, greasing numerous mini cogs to keep the big one (your operation) going nice and smooth.
Operate any other way and either corruption or nepotism will take you out then again if that doesn't take you out then "haffi eat a food" (take any and all opportunities regardless of repercussions) from your employees will (more on this later) navigating these issues come pretty natural to a native.
Let me show you an example of the "haffi eat a food mentality"....Ill quote an article and another similar one.
http://jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/20131...ness2.html
Quote:Plagued by thieves and water contamination, owners of the marine shrimp farm Trans-Global Aquaculture Limited have placed the company in liquidation after a dozen years of fighting to stay afloat.
Quote:The Jamaican operation is owned by an American company, Trans-Global Products Inc, which poured US$6 million into the company at start-up to sell shrimp to markets in the United States, Canada, Taiwan, Japan and Europe.
Quote:What should have been a strategic location in the establishment of the company's operations turned out to be to their detriment as thieves entered the unfenced property by sea and helped themselves to as much as 4,000 pounds of shrimp per night, Thompson said.
Quote:"I can't put a total to it because so much was stolen but I remember persons would tell me they had up to 2,000 pounds of shrimp in their freezers."
Quote:When the new tax regime came into effect, a duty was imposed on both the feed and the post-larvae baby shrimp we import for the production." He said.
Quote:"Prior to this, we actually brought the inputs in duty-free because it is not made any where in CARICOM (Caribbean Community)," he explained, noting that the company imported feed from Ecuador and the post-larvae shrimp from the United States.
"With the duty and general consumption tax, the added expense translated to about J$860,000 per container that we imported. Before the duty, that process was a zero cost," Evans said.
Quote:"The difficulty for us was the duty regime, in that while we were being charged duty on the inputs - the feed and the post larvae - for the production, the final product with which we compete were coming in duty free," he explained.
They came in naive thinking that everyone appreciating a company providing jobs and got eaten alive by both the people (remember "haffi eat a food") and the politicians/importers who wanted a quick meal.
If you want to start a successful business here the only way that works is coming in with mega capital, wetting the appetites of the government and the people to get what you want(basically monopolisation) ensure it stays as such any other way they will find a way to "eat a food" (skim off the top) and my somewhat liberal use of terms should let you know the culture is very diverse/complicated (african roots) for example "haffi eat a food" can be good in such that you are a hustler and have ambition or you believe your piece of the world is out there but you would never know this unless you've lived here and seen how it's applied to many different areas in daily life growing up.
here's a good case a few years back....
For example Digicel is our islands main mobile service provider which held/holds a monopoly over the entire industry then here came Claro, super fast and cheap competitor that was absorbing the market at a rapid pace. Digicel taking notice of this bought out Claro and greased a few palms to ensure that no other "start up telecom" company can acquire an license to compete on their frequency( maybe signal is the right word).
So if you want to start a telecom company then you are at major disadvantage right off the bat where your competing on a less reliable and slower frequency or line the politicians coffers with something more juicer to get them to pass the bill to get what you want.
So if whatever idea you might have the above is an idea of what you have to navigate if you want to come with an idea to start a business.
Let's talk a bit about opportunities....
Export is jamaica's million dollar opportunity right now because jamaica is at an ideal location for international trade (even the chinese want to build a hub here and is softly colonising Jamaica, japan is entering as well with Canada (RED FUCKING FLAG) keeping tabs here and the British already took what they want in the 17th century through slavery and have their own problems right now...
To be honest the chinese are actually doing good investments, building roads and funding housing projects but again you should see what's going on here between the lines (hub+roads+housing) only a matter of decades.
Back to biz opps.
Heavy manufacturing is around the corner as our only energy supplier JPS has upgraded to gas turbines or in the process of doing so where the main fuel source came from oil and they also now receive energy from persons selling back to the grid through solar and wind energy as well as a few hydro facilities.
With all of this the cost of energy should come down but remember what i said about monopolies....They might just eat the savings and fatten their margins.
With that being said a new car assembly plant is slated to be built here so the above developments are more likely correlated than the public is led to believe.
So keep manufacturing in mind.
Agriculture
This is where if you want power in jamaica GO AFTER THIS buys as much fertile land as you can put it to work and export to markets that are clammering for jamaican produce, you guys in states are crazy about organic produce and grass fed beef ....you can easily tap into markets over seas.
LAND IS POWER control the natural resources lock down the imports coming in and let the people buy your products
Mangoes for example have a roughly 490 million dollar us potential market in the us with most mangoes in our region coming from haiti (nasty mangoes) but because of our fruit fly problem the fruits have to be hot water treated or through radiation to sterilize the maggots to tap into the market and the equipment to do this is around 22-30 million us.
I really cant go over ever produce so think organic and think what product you use over there that people wish was more natural.
Ginger is good because our ginger is one of the best in the world and china loves it for cooking and medicine then there are many drink manufacturers overseas.
Sweet potatoes would go to the UK and they are begging us to plant it.
White Yam would do well on ethnic markets think brooklyn etc...
And many others like pineapple.
Just sheer fact that were in such a competitive location in relation to the market it's just getting the efficiency up and production costs low.
In terms of probelms entering the market....
Our current government growth strategy is to whore the country out to the IMF (RED FLAG) and tax every fucking thing down to simple consumables to meat the quota of whatever amount they have to meet.
You realized above that once the shrimp company stared importing items the government instantly moved to place taxes well that's what's going to happen to any raw material that you will or might need to import unless you have plans to manufacture the raw material needed.
Thieves.....
Farmers sleep in their fields with their pitchfork....
If you want to do any form of agriculture lots of capital will be spent on security motion sensors, infrared cameras, dogs and men and what makes it worse is that the thieves only get the equivalent of s slap on the wrist then sent home so they will return.
While no one has done this, because the farmers are poor it represents a great opportunity if you can get it right.
Energy costs..
Jamaica being corrupt and with JPS being foreign owned they pretty much charge whatever they want and so you can imagine your bill might increase 40% out of nowhere...
If your opportunity is going to use copious amounts of energy it's going to hurt, every manufacturer's biggest gripe here is energy costs some are even moving operations out of the country but if you invest a lot of capital in solar then I honestly believe it's possible to be very competitive here.
People...
I have already gave you the bad (somewhat) the good is they are hardworking and extremely ingenuitive at finding ways to get what they want. This could work for or against you in such a CEO finding good markets or Finding ways to skim off the top.
The women...
it's sad to admit but Jamaican women are quite awful , before I became game aware I romanticized them but don't count on finding a good woman Easily at all they are here especially in the country but I don't like women who are enamored with simple wonders, for examples there are some sweet mixed women in the country who work on farms but i wouldn't find myself LTR one unless she is for breeding stock cold but that's how it is. These women are dull and will just hazingly go along with whatever you do or wish but make excellent mothers as I have observed the parents and grand parents.
ill go over some things.
Westernized
Jamaican women are becoming more and more westernized by the day as they are heavily influenced by the us, if you are going to date one they are very concerned about a big house, fat dresser (furniture) and materialistic shit.
The worst part of the westernization that's coming over is the same Feminist behavior that coming over here now the men are keeping a good lid on it but Jamaica's red pill guys are getting old they wont be here to keep the women in place for next decades to come so the women are getting aware of 'female empowerment' and they are beginning to test the waters.
Shit like being stuck to their phone all day reading texts and whatsapp are very common now.
They will shit test you ever fucking minute for you to continue proving that you are worth their time and a true man but don't get involved with that SLAP the bitch in her face and put her in her place if she doesn't shut up, I seriously have no time for these bitches anymore and they are slowly making me jaded against women.
Entitlement
jamaican women if they have been around you for awhile they will feel that all you have belongs to them....lets say you have a fridge...she cleans the fridge often, well now she believes it's hers.
Same with other things like the bed, she spreads your bed well now she has a right to it...this trend continues on to other possessions.
Poor Shelf life
Jamaican women age badly if they are mixed especially with caucasians/indians as soon as they leave high school they blow up because they no longer have that identity/ social regime to keep them looking hot and once kids come the weight stays regardless of breastfeeding.
Jamaican men have strong oneitis and combine that with the cultures seeing fat women as "thick" and "fluffy" then you see the potential disaster.
Highly sexual culture
If you have a daughter she will probably get knocked up if you don't keep her
under lock and key regardless of whatever values you try to instill because jamaican women in general despite many flaws fuck like animals and very prone to freakish behaviors and lastly they don't keep their values very well.
To mention as well the Kats here are predators for young fresh pussy they fuck anything from the nasty whales that come off the boat to your 'sweet daughter" I don't believe that this is pedophilic behavior but african men in general have exceptional sex drives from what i have noticed with myself and reasoning with a few other guys it seem we all prefer long sessions ejaculating 2-3 times with our chicks and I'm not talking from an ego perspective but there is a reason why hoards of young white married women come here in droves to get some "island spice" and I have had my fair share of women of these ships who want a caribbean boyfriend for their stay or for the moment while their husband is out shopping, so if you ltr a bitch and she talks about Jamaica be very aware.
Lets close with building that empire.
Despite all I have said Jamaica is probably the best country right now to build said empire especially in agriculture related exports, Jamaica's real estate market is being bought out by the spanish but believe it or not ...
The government wants the native jamaicans to invest before they piece the country out, despite the corruption the government won't whore the country out for quick gains but the window is closing as the people are not taking action to invest or better yet the private sector is lacking someone with vision to organize the investments and the sharks are swimming.
Right now with the economy flat and exchange rate destabilized (on purpose) and the US is very strong here no so my emphasis on exports.... it's the best place to invest and setup cheap operations to send product out of the country.
So if I was to make a move to becoming a top power in this country I would start going after all the natural land I can get my hands on and swindle my way into water/natural resource rights as the country is very drought prone.
As with rubbing shoulders with the elites, fuck that jamaica is led mostly by dull lawyers and salary men who clawed their way up. Other elites are only in jamaica to save face with the people but have their interests and watering holes abroad.
Finding a good women that is good breeding stock is not impossible but if your legacy is to survive it she must birth a son who you have to lead very redpill as Jamaican culture can ingrain very vapid mentality into young men
Now why wont I take advantage of all of this...
While I am young and financially doing well in comparison to my peers through my online work. the sheer fact I Am writing this should be enough that i have no interest in taking up this mantle at this time or maybe even in the future.
The people are intelligent but jamaica in general is very dull, backwards and the culture is taking a turn to where I rather not be apart of it. Trust me there are millions of first world money opps to be found here and I might change my view in the future when I actually have enough capital to do some of the other big potential investments I have in mind but for now I'm more interested in what other countries and opportunities lie out there.
As a matter of fact once my passport clears up i'm scoping out Mexico/SEA to scope out if it's a good scene to base and build my online business even more.
While I don't post very often shoot a few questions If you have something specific.
