Man - I'm so fucking jealous... if I was ten years younger I would start learning Russian. But being close to 50 I'd be at retirement age by the time I was fluent. You young bucks should hit the books - Russia is the future. The West is lost.

Don't underestimate what a motivated man can do and thanks to the internet you have access to EVERYTHING. Music, books, news, learning apps, skype partners. Hell for a time I even switched to foreign language porn sites to learn some more vocabulary that's not in the books. It's ridiculously easy these days if you really want it.

It looks intimidating at first, but after 6 months you will find it no "harder" than Spanish or French. It just needs a little more time because there is more information to process.

Where does it start and where does it end? I wonder about this very often. I like my culture, my region and also participate at local traditions. I will tell my kids stories of old legends and so on. But this don't mean my culture is better then an other. Even that I dislike Islam as long we keep our values high and fight the influence I don't care what they do in their places.

But when do the culture vanish? Globalisation lead also to a lot more things that we take for granted today. Even more what if I go to Japan or an other country and start a family with a girl there? Then the kid carries two cultures inside. Some get along with that, others have deeper struggles. When we live in Germany, the kid will be more German, when in Japan then the kid more Japanese. Many here think about relocate from the west or get a foreign women. If she share the same values its one thing but she has also a different culture. My kids may will be not seen as full German even when I teach them more values and tradition then many of those "pure" Germans ever know.

Or when I move to an other country, live there over many years, what will be left of me? What's me and what is the influence of my culture that surround me daily? For me its more the values that has to pass one then a single behaviour. We are not the Amish or a similar group, we are out in the ocean and have face the storms that shake at our ship. Some of those winds will drive us in a better direction and others not.

In short, the welfare state by the means of Euro taxpayers is funding the migrants' to come to Europe. Unfortunately, the Euro taxpayer gets nothing in return, except for more crime and rape.

Even though I shouldn't be surprised, I still find it astonishing that nobody talks about the consequences of the welfare state or of its policies.

If she was beautiful she wouldn't be available - that simple. Beautiful women never need to be 'hooked up' - they are rarely or only briefly available. Actually my bad. I didn't realize I had written hurt. That was a complete mistake.

I just wanted to say I had a relative aversion to it, since we're talking mostly about irrational abstractions, which have a certain usefulness if one is facing a peril such as the Islamic one. I'm not "hurt" by it. I was probably thinking about hurt and wrote that instead.

In short, I can understand the practical usefulness, however, one cannot forget the atrocities made in the name of nationalism, and we cannot white-wash that.

I prefer the simpler term of patriotism, of liking your identity and your culture, protecting it against other threats. But without an overbearing jingoistic and belitling manner towards other cultures.

Sure, Western culture IS in general better than the average african of middle eastern country, but quite frankly that sort of thing is so self evident (despite the re-programming towards "we are all One") that it doesn't even need to be very mentioned. What the West should focus on is not exactly national identity but a more encompassing and general set of values that it defends, stick to it, cease trying to convert others to it, all while protecting it's own creed.
