The police detained you for four hours? That's pretty rough, but I've heard similar things before. Personally, I was never stopped by the police once in Japan.

Kind of a strange story. Missed the last train and it's 1 hour walk home. So I went to an izakaya, meet some japanese people. One borrowed my his bicycle and I went home at about 1 am. Get stopped by an older police guy, he called for support and at the end is was 3 police cars and 8 of them.
Then they took me to the Koban, made a call to the HQ because non of them speak english and I'm not japanese. Wonder what would be if I could not even speak english, because I'm German. Of course I had no phone number from the guy that gave me the bike, so it took 4 hours to make it clear that I did not stole the bike.

Those guys have nothing to do. I read about Halloween, there had been only two encounters with the police. TWO!!! and I was in Shibuya, it was crowed like hell. But they had been nice to me, so no complain at all. One even want to know how I like Japan and if I work out a lot. But if you ever ride a bike thats not yours, have either a good explanation or an phone number to call.
And stay calm, I then also read beside the strange arrest rules, they can even arrest you when you rise your voice. I did know I can do nothing and accepted my faith. *lol*

please allow me to blunt, because i dont want to type as much as i did in that post

i am a gym junkie who looks like he is on steroids. i am 181cm, about 100kg and lean. i look meditteranean and have an aussie accent

my cousin says i will have NO CHANCE attracting the ladies because my muscles will turn them off. he said they want kawaii, not size. i have had success with asian americans and asian australians before.

i am contemplating going to bangkok and then thinking about moving on to japan for a week whilst my friends bang prostitutes in pattaya

what does he average good looking drunk japanese girl think about a bodybuilder?

im only interested in good looking chicks. 9+

if i will be considered a freak show, im better off not going and saving for my next trip to NYC

If you look strong, and go to bars and drink. The girls will be eyeing you up. I wouldn't say I am near your size, but I get the nicknames related to being muscular and strong etc etc. I know for a fact, if I was bigger I'd get even more girls approaching me.

Now, I don't know what your experience is with Japanese/Korean/Chinese girls but if your going out, the average 7-8 here will probably look like a 9 to you. Not saying it's bad, just your boner test will give it a thumbs up. Regardless of that, the girls here all paint themselves up nice and good on the daily on top of generally not being fat at all, the only real 2 drawbacks would be the teeth on some and the bush on others. Luckily, as I and many have been noticing, many girls here are opting to go shaved.

It seems I am uninformed.

All of the general reading I have done over the years has led me to believe that muscularity is a pitfall in Asian countries because they're not used to it and are shy to the extent that uncommon things are generally rendered as being negative, not positive.

It was my understanding that the J girls prefer a Bieber-esque, cutesy 18 year old / teen boy look to someone like me.

On one particular occasion, I went for a legitimate (non-sexual) massage in Singapore straight after a gym work out. Unbeknown to them, I could hear the masseuses talking amongst themselves about how no one wanted to massage me because I was too big and they didn't feel they could do a proper job. I appreciate that point of view from a professional standpoint, but I sort-of got the feeling that the girls didn't care enough to want to touch me.

I don't mind getting little or no action, to be perfectly honest, because I'm not an alpha-hunter who needs to bang 9s every three or four days- but I didn't want to spend good money travelling to a country only to be able to look and not touch.

I've heard about the teeth. I've heard about the fashion, and the lack of downstairs grooming. That's hilarious to me.

I also note that the common theme seems to be that the girls can be extraordinarily attractive, so I'm convinced I will go.

Muscles are definitely a plus. They do say that they don't like 'machoman' but it's a lie. Everytime I went to a date, the girls would check out my arms or chest... now I lost like 10 kgs after an accident and I really want to go back to my more muscular self.
Also japanese girls seem to like toned bodies more than huge bodybuilder type of bodies, BUT I think this goes for japanese men only. Japanese chicks are really oblivious about the world, they only know what they have seen in movies, fairytales or books. Thus they have huge stereotypes about foreign men. For example how all English men gentlemen holding the door open for their ladies, or German men are knights on a horse and shit. And since Men in movies are almost always really buff, especially in american movies, I think you should be fine with your looks.
You can use it really well to screen the girls really quickly. If someone is talking to you a little longer than 1 minute, she should be interested. Japanese girls quickly turn away to show that they have no interest.

When I did a Contiki once, two J girls on the bus came straight up to me and started grabbing my arms and chest. Not in a nasty way, but it was ultra-weird. It rendered me a freak show, but I took zero offence, because no offence was intended. They came across as the sweetest two things I have ever spoken to. So pure. So gentle. So polite. There I was - a ruthless gamer - subdued. My T levels went through the floor, but I didn't care.

I did not hook up with either of them, and the more I thought about it the more I supposed that J girls just aren't in to me.

Agree with that. Any level of muscle development short of roided out champion bodybuilder is a plus in Japan. Balance that with a "nice" persona and sharp dress and you will kill.

As a bigger guy, the foreigner groupies will flock to you.

Regular J-girls will like it but you still need to do the work.

Overall, it's a plus but much better to be low bf% than "strong but a little chubby". Although white girls sometimes like the latter, most J-girls do not.

Yes. Lean will always be favoured over muscly but a bit puffy, in my experience. Anywhere in the world.

Ideally, I would lose a few extra pounds before stepping in. A very deep six pack goes a long way - not that I'll ever get one.

I substantiate it. I have seen similar behaviour.

I have two specific images in my mind, which I use as bodybuilding motivation. The first is a guy I saw at a party with a big chest, with a top-end Japanese girl he had just met looking goo-goo eyed at him whilst resting her hands front-on on his chest. The second is another well-built guy who was getting pincer-actioned whilst sitting down, by two girls eagerly pressing themselves against him.

I talked to both men, and other than their muscular physiques and their 'internal energy' (indicated by their 'energy oozing' demeanor and constantly strong posture) they had the same stats as me. I assume the energy aspect just comes from physical/cardiovascular fitness and being well-rested.

One piece of advice on this issue: do not try to appear 'tough' or intimidating or cocky. I've seen other muscular men fail because they did things like this. Both of the men I mentioned above had a very calm and friendly demeanor. If you have big muscles, have a big smile.

I'm happy with my game. I live in Australia and smash two 9s a month. I'm going to fly in and give it a go. I do not have yellow fever but I am convinced that of all the Asians on the planet, top-end J birds have to be the best. I expect to see 10s, and hopefully land one. I have never landed a 10 in my life. However, I cannot speak Japanese so I best get my activity up and get talking to one who is happy to practice her English on me. If not, a 9 will do. I'll happily approach a 9 in any reasonable situation.

Being cocky has worked for me in the past, mainly in the US. I have found that if I act like a self-assured bad ass, without going overboard, the US chicks love it when combined with my accent.

Will that not work in Japan? I'm subtle about it to start with, but do like to let off a level of cockiness that is above average when I feel like a few 9s are showing interest.

^ Even if they talk to you for more than a minute it doesn't mean much. Japanese girls don't give off any easily discernible ioi.

The only thing that comes close is if they ask you personal questions 'where are you from?' 'what are you doing here?'

If she's a brick wall (doesn't talk or seems uninterested) you will have to see if she follows you out of the venue.

Japan is the one place where I really shut off and don't pay attention to any other 'signs' that she may be interested. Yes she can be laughing and smiling, waving her hair around, looking at you all googly eyed, talked for 10mins, etc, be helpful, show you around, etc, it doesn't mean much. She will go ghost sometimes.

Then I've talked to complete brick walls, who only gave one word answers, didn't give me their name, but still showed up and I wound up banging afterwards. Completely baffled me.

Those 2 signs above where my best guesses and led to some great times.

So better pipeline and even for dates, have a back up plan. I have a bar where I go regular, I make the meetings close to it, so if she don't show up I just go there. But that she don't show up happen just one time. Either they say they can't make it or like before, don't answer your message.

About the muscles, have an attractive body never hurts. But question like, my biceps is 40 cm or is 45 cm better? I'm this and that, do girls like it? Nonsense.

I got that one sometimes.

To counter this, I studied Japanese at a starbucks that was in a mall. Asked girl to meet me there. If she didn't show, I then used my Japanese that I just studied to pick up better girls. Sometimes a cute girl would sit by me and I would ask her a question about Japanese. It was a feedback loop. The point is that I either left starbucks, knowing more Japanese, got another number, another date, or got to practice Japanese. This was my date formula.
