First of all, this is buisness not pleasure. I'm trying to get a list of resources/contacts from a women established in an industry I'd like to get in. Might propose a partnership later on but that's risky buisness & I'm still vetting her.

Problem: A fast talking beta whom I'm not yet sure the connection to our mutual female friend. Out for revenge against a mutual acquaintance who fired him pretty much for being a beta, same person offended this woman during the incident so there it makes sense she's caught up in this(or he's white-knighting for her.. could be either/or.) He's starting nonsensical rumors about his former boss and as its going I see it being the only thing that either of them want to discuss with me going forward. They're in this together, could be a deeper relationship but I don't know.

My first instinct would be to logically call out his lies/inconsistencies but I don't see that going anywhere. The girl is taking him on his word(doesn't want to spoil herself by sorting through the supposed evidence) and while he's with her I'm operating by phone accross the country. I don't see how playing the defense attorney could help my situation. Especially as some of it would be simply my word vs his. "So and so has xyz on their Facebook" whereas I saw their account deactivated when I rejoined the site last December. I can't prove when it was deactivated.

Second instinct is to trick him. The only way this works out is if I let him dig himself into a hole. I know he didn't dig up info on the man's family from Facebook as neither the man in question nor his family are on there. So I play along, get him agreeing to things I make up, then reveal. Seems risky and there's no guarentee he'd fall into it.

Third I could just refuse to have this discussion and insist we focus on buisness but I don't see that working. Certainly won't if beta's relationship with my female acquaintance is deeper than 'I traveled accross the country to spend a few days with you.' She'll be sucked into the libelling assuming she isn't already. I flubbed my recon, I was too disgusted by the shit-talking, put off my the insane fast talking, and they were on the road(speakerphone) trying to find some turnoff.

I'd appreciate the advice for the sake of getting both the buisness info I want; and in defending a red-pill guy I respect from a white-knight sneaking around and badmouthing him within the entire extended community we all met in. The accusations being flung range from misusing funds for a drug addiction to having created & maintained a false identity for years... high-level conspiracy babble.

If I just wanted to be done with them both I'd say that. As I left it I said I wouldn't discuss it without proof & I know he doesn't have any. H claimed that he had a 2hr Skype chat with his former boss after being let go where "he admitted everything." Says he recorded it all. This guy is literally doing an Alex Jones "I've got all the documents." I'm sure I'll hear how the file won't send or some other excuse.

This sounds like something that would take place in high school. This woman sounds like she would not make the best business partner because:

a. she is a woman
b. she has a lot of baggage
c. there's that dude who I'm still trying to understand what his role is...a butthurt former employee?

Don't do business with her because she will bring you into her problems which in turn will affect your business and your goals.

It's been radio silence for the past few days, at this point the girl is weeks behind on sending me the list of resources promised(books & contact information) so all possibilities of working together are off the table. My agenda is to get said email & then to just leave them to their crusade.

I'm trying to use game to enforce my boundaries & not present myself as tolerant to offtopic personal disuss ions from buisness associates. I can't imagine someone finding those goals irrelevant, even if the second is more a quality of life concern. My game is weak here honestly, I must be presenting myself in a way where I become the goto shrink/helper for people. I suffer from being a 'good listener.'

I apologize for being lengthy but I'm trying to remain vague & keep all participants unidentifiable. I should have cut my post down to the barebones.

Trying to get industry contacts from woman acquaintance. She's playing games and pulls some dude onto the phone who starts making up stories about his former boss whom we all know. I mistake him for being the ringleader, this same guy offended the women in question(could even say she got him fired) and I think he's white-knighting. Find out women has had a long standing grudge against the other guy.

So I misread the situation completly, the guy isn't relevant. He freaked me out by how insane he sounded when he jumped on the phone and my response was to write this rant thread. I simply need advice on talking buisness with this women without allowing the conversation to decend into drama & nonsense.

So, what's my worse mistake: Not hanging up as soon as the guy jumped on the phone and started rambling or expecting a straightforward buisness discussion with a female friend? This is my third strike with the later, at least this time the only fallout was my embarrassing myself on a forum. Lesson learned.

Fair enough assessment, I should know better than post right after making a large change to my diet. Knocked flax out of my diet, T levels were low.

I did what I should have in the first place when the girl re-initiated. "Not interested in the drama, let you know when I get your email." It's over.
