You cannot possibly defend against these attacks save for hail mary luck such as these Marines. I'm pretty sure their training set off alarm bells in their heads as they listened.

This is definitely a would-be terrorist slaughter make no mistake. How the hell would you escape a man armed with an assault rifle on a packed train?

I rather disagree. Many North-African "Arabs", especially the educated women, but also many men, are integrating with local, "native" French, and feel the same way we do about the illegal Sub-Saharan (Black) Africans.

When I talk with (educated, and 80% of them are) French muslims, they think exactly the way I do about the illegal Sub-Saharan (Black) African migrants... Matter of fact, the Algerian and Moroccan States relentlessly fight against these Sub-Saharan (Black) African migrants, with the same fears we have (for their, and our, local economics, security issues, cultural survival)...

Technically not true. Croatia, though EU, still isn't part of the Schengen and therefore still has border control. Coming by land from the Balkans, you'd need to pass through Slovenian or Hungarian border controls to enter the Schengen zone, which from there you can you can freely travel between many countries.

As for the thread topic, incredible story. Can't believe some marines happened to be inside the train to prevent the gunman from taking a single life. I live within a few hours drive from where the attack took place. Have only spoken to a friend and colleague about it so far, but the typical downplaying and excuses are being given to further ignore the problem here. So many people still in denial, it's unfortunate.

You will hear that this happens in France because France is so racist, and especially so towards Muslims. Usually followed by how France has banned the burka/niqab and possibly the French-Algerian War.

And hell, the most popular party I understand is the National Front but it is valiantly prevented from power by tactical voting (it goes to the second round and the supporters of whichever party lost vote against it).

Well, here is how you screw with those assumptions.
Italy does not even recognize Islam as a religion. It cites the "poor reputation" of the religion as a justification.
Japan has more restrictions on the religion than France, even banning Dawa (the proselytizing). I don't see many of these attacks in Italy or Japan.
Japan obviously has few Muslims but Italy has a fair share. The most that happened was some ISIS wannabes tried to kill the Pope and didn't even get close to succeeding.

Sadly, you'll be fighting in the dark if you try to report on the ethnic and religious issues in France because the French government does not keep ethnic and religious data like other European countries do. So don't even try unless you're really sure.

Those American guys are very calm in that video, they really prevented a massacre.

I read on another report that said one of the soldiers was making the weapons safe and he found that the Kalashnikov had jammed, without that happening he probably wouldn't have made the distance to tackle him.

Honourable men. I hope they get medals. I think this is one thing that needs to be trained into men at school - the honour of risking your life to preserve the peace, and to protect and to save your people from bad guys. I think every country should have a program of some militia training for young men, like the Swiss do, so that every man is prepared for situations like this, and knows his duty.

Yeah it's not even ambiguous. The more violence, crime, and social malais the political class can foment, the more power they can seize. I have zero doubt that they actually get joy whenever innocent people get shot or blown up, would like to see more of it, and happily act towards that goal. The majority of Europe's evil sociopaths are once again in the halls of power, and it's high time for an uprising. I'd go as far as to say that returning to absolute monarchs would be better than the current European constitution.

We are not in the Schengen and won't be for at least a few more years.

The current official border is at Slovenia and Hungary.
