Yeah, when you're about to be thrown in jail in apartheid South Africa; being a black man doesn't help.

Yet, being the leader of an active anti-government guerrilla / terrorist group, tends to upset said government.

Never liked Mandela and dont like that they are always forcing him down our throats.

He was in prison for years for a reason and being black wasnt it. Its not like he was the only black guy in Africa.

He most certainly wasn't.

Mandela was put in jail because he stood up against a system which denied him and millions of other Black and Coloured South Africans access to jobs, education and full civil rights. He fought and defeated an evil system, a system built on White privilege and institutionalised racism.

That makes him a hero in my book.

Ja, heard this earlier today. It's been apparent for years that the Mandela's have nothing/nobody in the pipeline to ensure a legacy despite fairly large numbers of grandchildren. I think they even did a reality show a few years back, so must be pretty hard up for cash.

Another Mandela used his connections to start some sort of gold mining operation that just performed comically badly. Litlle gold recovered, workers not paid, everybody suing everybody else. That sort of thing. For some reason gold mining isn't anything like oil. Just owning a lease doesn't mean much. You can't just bring in a foreign team and a few months later oil and $'s start flowing. Some of the mine shafts run 3 km's below the surface of the earth and you have to get actual people down there to dig and blast it out of solid rock with dynamite. It's insanely risky and expensive. People, like the Mandela family member, who don't know what they're doing are bled by sweet talking contractors till they don't have any pants, let alone shirts, left.

Don't know what to think of this latest grandson. All he got from Mandela was $300,000 which is almost certainly long gone. No expensive Pistorious type lawyer for him. But the delay has meant that the restaurant's CCTV tapes are long erased. So it's "He said. She said." The delay in coming forward is also a little suspicious. Blackmail not paid by the Mandela family?
