You should check out the university campus. I would be surprised if there weren't that many white students. Or at least half filipino students. I have never been there but still know of more than 10 white guys living there.

There should not be any dry spells in the Phils, or it defeats the purpose of going there. 1 week in any city in the Phils, is more than enough to a get a good picture. I would get out of that town, as soon as I can.

Yes it's a P4P site (NSFW) but there is also some discussion in there about trying to game normal girls in Dumaguete. The conclusion seemed to be that it's one of the more difficult places to pick up in the Philippines. Even if those guys aren't a good example, I'm glad to know it's not just me who is having trouble.

Last night I headed out to a Dumaguete bar called Why Not which is located by the seafront. It's full of hookers but there are also normal girls and students who go there.

There were plenty of cute girls and I got some good reception. Plenty of eye contact and a girl even asked me to dance (I turned her down because she was a 5). I figure it must be where local chicks go who want to meet a foreigner, because the girls were much less shy than the ones you encounter during daygame. The difference is day and night.

As for the foreigners, there were the usual old, fat expats and some backpackers in shorts and sandals but no serious competition that I could see. The younger guys were mostly dancing like madmen with some very obvious hookers.

Even in the clubs, you have to be wary of who you approach (assuming you want to actually stay here for a while) because everyone is watching. And everyone knows everyone! Getting wasted and taking a skank home isn't the best idea.

Bearing the above in mind, I patiently bided my time by the bar before making a move. I deliberately went for the hottest girl in the place, so that any girl there would remember me in a positive light. This chick looked bitchy as fuck and gave me a frown when I went over, but surprisingly turned out to be very sweet with an amazing singing voice. Yes, there's a karaoke booth inside the club! After a while it became obvious she was trying to game me and qualify herself as girlfriend material. Happy times.

Funnily enough, one of the online cockteasers that blew me off after a date saw me with the new girl and asked me why I was ignoring her. I brushed her off and then caught both of them exchanging evil eyes with each other. Social proof in action. The new girl whispered to me, "She's a hooker."

Again, no bang though. Making you wait for it seems to be the standard girl tactic here. She had me give her a ride home. A quick kiss and that was that. So far this girl is very keen but I'm not holding my breath after so many disappointments here. I have about 8 numbers from daygame that are all taking their sweet time in getting back to me. You need the patience of a saint to text these girls.

If the above doesn't make it clear, so far I'd say that getting laid in Dumaguete is a couple of notches higher in difficulty than the bigger towns. What you gain in exotic value you lose from the deep conservatism and small town dynamic. Some game and patience is required. On the upside, the average girl is of a high standard. I'd even say they are cuter than girls in Manila, but that might just be a personal preference.

Who knows, maybe a higher difficulty is a good thing if you want an LTR here. I'm sticking around for a while longer to see if things get better.

As Dagnasty likes to say, "What's easy to get isn't valuable!"

I like that mantra.

One more thing. I'm experimenting with some beta game tactics here and they seem to go down better on average. Both in person and online I'm trying the following:

- Make it clear you are not a tourist. Mentioning my business and how I'm keeping busy most days has gone down well.
- Also include your plans to stay a while if that's true. Most girls assume you are going to leave, so you need to kill this assumption from the get go.
- Mention that you are picky and looking for a serious girl to date, not just a random hookup. Sleeping around can ruin a girl's reputation here.
- Don't be afraid to compliment the girl with reason. Your value is still high here, but girls are kind of wary of younger guys. A few genuine compliments seem to go down well.

And so on. I should mention that I'm not lying about these things and I implore you guys to be fairly honest if you go to smaller towns.

It's clear that the young tourists are coming in and breaking hearts, which has had a negative effect in this town. Don't be that guy who fucks up the game for everyone else.

Dumaguete is a small town (pop. 200,000; 1/10th the size of Davao, 1/50th the size of Manila) and it's blowing up with expats as the best beachside paradise for a long-term stay in the Philippines. So the ratio is off for meeting girls. In addition, they seriously worry about their reputation and it's small enough for gossip to travel.

I think the Phils can absorb a bit more growth in popularity with expats and love tourists - some cities like Iloilo and Bacolod remain under-visited - but it's clearly changing fast.

This is very true, I have a mate here in Makati who has recently opened the 'Octagan' Sports Bar in Dumaguete to cater for said influx of expats

I have a very good 'friend' who lives near Dumaguete, I went to visit her a few months back. It's a nice place and very laid back. I can see the attraction for the older guy who is looking to retire and take things easy in later life but would not recommend for the younger guy as a good place to set-up base camp

Two flights a day from Manila with both Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines make it handy to go back n forth

I also went to Bacolod last month, not much going on here. Stayed in the best hotel they had which was attached to the Pagcor Casino....was ok but no nightlife that I could see. It has two malls, I went to the SM and it is very big and modern. Can see this place also offering a retiree a nice place to kick up his heels and also noticed that they are building condos opposite the Robinson's Mall which I would assume are to cater for the expected growth in the region

Make sure your phone is unlocked and is also a GSM phone. Even if you think it is, double check.

And don't buy a micro sim at the airport. Get out of the airport, and buy one at a street shop or in the mall. Airport prices are total rip offs.

You could buy a separate phone if you want, but I personally feel it's a pain to carry both phones. It depends on what you want to do. Do you plan on walking through shady areas (where you want to be very discreet with using your smartphone in public) or stay in safer areas like Makati or Fort?

Two weeks in one of the big cities should be good. Don't over-schedule your itinerary because you'll need time to adjust for jet lag and to the culture, if it's your first time.

This kinda happened with me and the Stockbroker girl from Manila. She was engaged to a Filipino she had been with for 10 years. At one point, she wanted me to make a hard commitment to her before ending things with her fiancé. I should've played along, but I would've felt bad about pumping and dumping a girl who just threw away marriage for me. I never got the bang but I did get to see her wedding pictures 2 months later.

She would also ask me questions about my work, cost of rent, etc. It's only natural. If I were a girl of high value I would be asking to see a guys damn tax returns for the past 5 years along with their bank account before dumping my current fiancé. Part of being a good husband is being a good provider.

Interesting theory Onto but I think you are being too generous. And that's a dangerous attitude in this country. Whenever I think I'm being cynical here the truth often turns out to be far worse.

The club chick already admitted to dating another westerner in this town before. I'm leaning more towards semi pro/gold digger territory for this one. The way she gamed me, inviting me to her place to then reject my advances, the hot and cold treatment etc are classic tells of a professional. She is trying to string me along.
