During the first few days of my trip, seeing all these cops and security guards with rifles and large guns at places like Starbucks or Jollibees or even an ATM made me a little nervous. But you quickly get used to it, and I even chatted up a security guard after seeing him a few times at Starbucks across the street from where I was staying. Very polite and friendly. Just don't make an ass of yourself.

Yeah a bunch of security guards and cops became my buddies. They're kind of nosy, but nice guys.

The guard at Starbucks would chat with me everyday. I brought a girl in one morning and she told me he asked her if she was my girlfriend.

I was walking down the street near Glorietta one day and a traffic cop stopped waving traffic and was pointing at me and waiving. I think I asked him for directions a couple days before that.

I talked to one girl in the mall for about a half hour. She said the guards were all teasing her after. I went back to see her a few days later. Her eyes were darting around and she was smiling. She said the guards were winking and making faces behind me.

So you guys are having security guards with "big guns" chat you up ha..

The thing with most of the guards with guns that I see in the Philippines is that they are super friendly and try to be helpful, but to the extent that I've asked for directions, even though they've worked an area for ages, they are usually clueless.

This leads me to wonder about their general intellect and gun skills if anything serious actually went down

^many of those Filipino armed guards are ex-forces and have likely seen action fighting the MILF down south. As for directions, Filipinos will often give bad directions because they don't like to say "I don't know", I found that happens in Colombia too for whatever reason.

They will most likely say "deretso" (straight ahead) when giving directions, haha.

One just said "Sir, next time you are supposed to turn right there."

He just had me drive back to the intersection I had messed up at , pointed out the "No Left Turn" sign, I said "I see, sorry" and he just drove off. No documents, no rudeness, no pushing for bribes.

Either one would have cost me $500 + after counting the increased car insurance in the USA.

I see some resentment from some Filipino guys, but come on , we make 15-50 times what they do and come there and many guys screw a ton of women.

A lot of those guards you see make SO little, I've heard as low as 250 a day, less than a dollar per hour.

They're only human.

Guys just wondering if anyone knows any good indoor basketball courts that are available in Manila that can be accessed by the public or maybe a good gym/sports complex that has good courts???..Or better yet if any of you guys currently living there play in a league and need an extra player for a few games next month while im there..Thanks

Before I forget to write about it: If you have the chance to be in Cebu City in the second week of January, make sure to attend Sinulog. Unfortunately, I only saw the last day of the festival, but I heard from multiple girls that it is a huge hookup festival. A whole city is drunk and partying for days. It sounds like a Fullmoon Party but with a lot less foreigners and with tons of horny filipinas. A Fullmoon Party where the dynamics are in a white guy's favor, so to say. Make sure to book a hotel near Mango Avenue a few weeks in advance though.

A smaller version of Sinulog is happening in August. A week or two before the 28th of August the founder's week is happening in Dumaguete City. Basically everyone who is from Dumaguete will return to the city. The university students get 2 weeks off and everyone is partying. I will check it out this year and write a report.

I've been in Dumaguete for 10 days now.

So far my impression is that it's a nice city but not a great place for game.

A few observations:

1. Online game is beyond abysmal here. I'd estimate that 60% of my messages never get a response and the other 20% fizzle out after a few exchanges. I had two dates who acted all keen but have since disappeared on me. After a couple of weeks of trying with zero results, I conclude that online isn't worth it. Go for daygame.

2. As a relatively young, in shape foreigner you get tons of attention walking around town. But as I've found that doesn't necessarily translate into quick bangs...I've yet to get laid after 10 days here. Well, I've been busy working and turned down a DTF girl on the first night but it's not as easy I as was expecting. And onto the related next point...

3. Dumaguete girls are flaky. Perhaps it's due to Dumaguete being more "middle class" but there is little of the typical "Filipina girl thirst" you get in other towns. Now it's very possible that they are just playing hard to get, but it's a pain in the ass trying to get these young girls to come out on a date. I have met several girls who seem super keen in person then they take DAYS to reply to texts. Others (online mostly) plain flaked on dates. It's more what I'd expect in Japan or Taiwan, not the Philippines.

4. It's a small town so this affects how you game. When you run daygame on shop staff you need to be fairly picky because they will remember you. Definitely more of an LTR kind of place than somewhere to run through the numbers.

5. I'm getting the impression that it's better to be 40+ here. That might be the route of the issues I'm having. A few of the online profiles ask for someone over 45! I see older guys going around with hot young things so it's possible that the young chicks here seek stability, not fun.

6. The biggest downside has to be the lack of young expats to hang with. I'm feeling quite isolated here as most guys are 20-30 years older than me. Will be going out at night from now on and hope to meet a few guys but I've barely seen any around town.

7. The city is great. Relaxed atmosphere, plenty of restaurants and cafes for reasonable prices. Quite different to most cities I've been to in this country.

8. Transport is cheap and easy. 10-15 pesos a tricycle ride, but it's even better on a motorbike. I'm really enjoying riding around and admiring the scenery. Beaches and diving is just a short drive away.

9. You can rent a baller apartment or even a house (!) for under $400. I'm renting a fully furnished place for $250 with pool. It's amazingly good value. Definitely what I imagine Chiang Mai must be like.

I set up a DIA account. My god, getting quite a lot of interest from 6-7's. I made it quite explicit that I wanted no contact with ladyboys (worked well), I'm in town for a while and like to have a few drinks and explore the city. Easy way to open and have conversations.

One girl asked me to go to a bible study with here, bahahaha. WTF, I thought she was kidding. One chick couldn't tell me if she lived 2 hours north, south, east or west of Manila because she didn't know on a map where she was in relation to the big smoke.

A lot of profiles have me thinking it is a pretty straight country. Girls looking for long term marriages. Saying their goal in life is to walk down the aisle and bullshit like this.

My question is are they really uber religious or can this be broken down? Are they just putting up a front in profiles?

I have chatted with a few of these girls and quite a few want to met up but I am wondering what I am going to have in common with them. They don't exactly exert a lot of personality. Even just for chatting with before trying to pull.

How long are you going to stay in Dumaguete?

I have never been to Dumaguete but I am texting almost every day with a girl from there. From texting with her I assumed that it is easy to get laid in Dumaguete. But your report makes it seem like there aren't many girls like her in Duma. This makes me rethink my plan to stay there for a whole week.

There are some clubs. I'll check some out this weekend. There should be plenty of students out and about so maybe it's a decent avenue to explore.

Why were you planning on coming? Don't come here to get laid. You can do that in Manila or Cebu.

I was planning to settle down here for a few months, but I might need to revaluate if this continues. Hopefully it's just a dry spell on my part. I'll give it some more time and report back for you guys on my findings.

Like I said. From all the stories I heard from this girl and her friends I assumed it is a good place for game. Plus, the founder's week in August sounds pretty nice as well. I guess I will just show up there, bang my girl and then decide if I stay longer or if I escape to Siquijor to have a few relaxing days on the beach. I will get laid enough in BKK, Manila and Cebu but this girl from Dumaguete is something special. I am pretty sure you will also meet her sooner or later if you are really going to stay there for a few months.

The girls in Duma might be so picky because there are lots of white students at Silliman University.
