River North seems to be at least 1500 for just a studio? According to Zillow and Hot Pads?

Seriously though. I've got some free time, it's warm, and Chicago is less than an hour away.

$1500 would be on the cheap side. Check out gold coast/old town/lincoln park/lakeview.

Yeah it definitely has been in my search. As far as lincoln park/lakeview are there any parts to avoid? Some of it seems like it might be questionably sketchy so I'm not exactly sure where to look, it's a large area obviously.

It depends on how old you are. If you do boystown its primarily gay guys. If you do wrigleyville it's really young people. Most of the women I know in lakeview are closer to the water. River North is best because not only is there 25% more women than men, but if you're going out women want to go out places there so it's easier to get them to come to you.

Whats the age group for River North? I'll be making 70k and I'm pretty sure I'm going to take the job at this point. I do have 20k in student loans though and virtually no money currently.

70k wont cut it in River North. Especially if that before taxes. 70k wont get you anything in Wrigley/LP near public transit. Might want to start looking into a roommate.

Alright, so I've been around for a bit. Day game and street festivals are great. Haven't really figured out the night life yet. I've been to river north a couple times. If anyone wants to meet up let me know. I've met up with several forum members in the past. Never had a bad experience.

Hey Slacker101, what part of the city did you end up finding a place to live? I was in River North last weekend. I hit a country place called Bub City then went to an after hours bar called Celeste.

It seems like around 1:30am and 2:30am on Friday's and Saturday's, respectively, the ratio of women to men really plummets. Women throw in the towel early in Chicago if you ask me. If bars and clubs don't start getting packed until say 11pm, this gives you around two and a half to three and half hours of prime time per night. Every after hours bar I have been hitting in River North has been a sausage fest.

Here is a little Chicago slang for you:

Been out here for about 10 months & live in LP which I hardly ever go out in. My general observations have been if you want easy conversation and fun chicks to hang with, Wicker Park is the play. I actually bumped into Matt Forney and Goldmund Unleashed a few weeks back and we hung out for a few, both are good dudes. Old Town looks nice but it seems to be College Clique Central, you have to "drill your worth" or just steamroll fuckers into submission. Don't have enough reference points on Wrigleyville or River North but the former appears to be Frat House Central so crush some beers on your head and River North I just dont jive with as I'm 5'10 and more charismatic than I am traditionally good looking.

Top after hours bars I've been to include Suite Lounge, Red Headed Piano Bar, and by far and away the top spot is Drop Lounge. Next to nobody knows about it. The bald bartender makes a cucumber vodka concoction and the ladies love it. Place has a chill front room and active backroom. Every girl I've brought there has been easy peasy after we spend some time there.

Some bouncers make you pay a cover (I never have cash) and others will just let you waltz in if you are cool and suggest youll tip 50%.

Currently on a no booze kick so once that ends if y'all want to meet up and run around, lets get to it.

You're right about things ending early. It's because people start drinking early and girks don't want to go to after hours with a bunch of wasted thirsty guys. You can hit some of the more chill places earlier in the night in river north and have more women than men. I'm not into clubbing but some clubs have great ratios and go till 4-5 on weekends.

I'll be in the city Saturday if anyone wants to hang. I've got a game in the morning but afterward I'll probably roam the streets a bit.

I own a 1 bedroom condo in River North that is about 950 sq feet. I always check out rental prices and my place would rent for 2300 a month since I have a river view. It's real expensive around here. Tough to find a rental at a good price unless you want to go way outside downtown.

What's up man. I live out here in River North but it's not my favorite place to hang. The women are a bit on the stuck up side. But good quality. I like Old Town and Wicker park. I'm up for meeting up sometime. I'll send you a PM.

I'm more into the day drinking. Can't wait for college football Saturdays. Plenty of drunk chicks out early in the day. Banana
