Just like the school girl who was mowed down by a truck for texting and not paying attention in Toronto, nobody wanted to point to the obvious that she was a idiot for texting and crossing a major road not paying attention to her surroundings.

Men do stupid stuff all the time that get them killed but the irony is women are way more selective in identifying and shying away from risks... Well except then they are distracted by phones and such.

A man dies from tempting fate and risk by base jumping of a cliff and not clearing it, he knew the risks and gambeled and lost his bets. A woman would never even attempt that jump in the first place, but a woman gets mailed by a tiger after repeated warnings, all to take a picture for Instagram...

Far from equal. Except that both wanted a thrill, one from a life altering experience if he would of made that jump, while the other for a bunch of likes on a smartphone app...

5 years from now smartphones will be the leading cause of women accidental deaths. As women don't peruse dangerous employment or take risks in activities like men so smartphones will end up being thier leading causes of being killed or seriously hurt.

The point is some people who are raised in first world countries, particularly the safe cities, are often clueless when it comes to recognizing the dangers posed by wildlife. They suffer from Grade A stupidity. Sometimes they think they're special snowflakes with a magical bond to animals, sometimes they think nothing bad could happen to them, and sometimes they're just plain careless for carelessness's sake.

There's nothing really to be gleaned from this other than: play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Back in our cavemen days we lived in fear of beasts like this. Now we've gotten to the point where natural survival instincts have been bred out of segments of the population or never cultivated because they grew up in safety and they think death is something that happens to other people.

My first thought, even when watching these creatures on TV, is not "what a majestic animal, it's just like Mittens!" It's: "that thing is fucking crazy. What do I own that I could kill it with?"

On occasion when I visit a Bass Pro Shops or some other place with giant stuffed predators I like to stand next to them and just look up at them. There's a grizzly bear in the one near me that's up on its hind legs. It absolutely dwarfed the GMC Yukon parked next to it.

Our county historical museum has some stuffed polar bears standing on their hind legs (which were once owned by a gimmicky local TV shop in the 60s) that make the grizzly look small by comparison.

Then, at a popular gun shop in town that sells safari shit, they have stuffed lions. The male lion is fucking enormous. The females are big too. They are not to be taken lightly.

Since most of us live in safe places it is good to occasionally remind yourself about the reality of what's out there. If it wasn't for human intelligence and our ability to band together and use tools and tactics we would be extinct.

You're staring at the answer as you read this. The internet is the most powerful political tool ever invented.

You may think this is just some dumb forum, but in reality we're all a bunch of young men organizing and sharing ideas with one another. In the decades to come, some of us will be in powerful positions, or in positions to influence others in power. In addition, the knowledge shared online is also spread to our immediate friends and family.

Spreading knowledge and bringing light to issues is by far and away the most effect thing anyone can do for political change. Ideas rule the world over the long run, not just guns and bullets. Where is communism or nazism now? Brute force isn't enough. Dictators grow old and die, and what replaces them?

You may you're just "wasting time online," but like most you take this amazing piece of technology for granted. High speed internet hasn't even been around for 20 years and people act like this shit is no big deal, being able to talk with tens of thousands of men across a continent in seconds.

This forum in particular is special because of it's emphasis on men and superb moderation, which allows high quality discussions to develop. It gets a ton of traffic and most posts on here get read hundreds of times each. If you don't think that will have a cumulative effect on the future, then... just wait and see. Ideas have consequences.

The driver / tour guide is in intensive care (surprise, surprise he's a HE). He tried to be brave (or it was just a reflex action?) and he risked his life trying to save the foolhardy girl but suffered a heart attack and was also wounded by the lion.
The park's representatives are steadfast - the warning signs put up in the facility and / or verbal instructions to entrants are enough (according to them). BUT it's obvious anything can happen as the visitors are not being completely supervised. So ironically the park could draw more visitors due to the ever so slight tinge of a gory reputation. Go figure...

The woman has been identified as 29 year old Catherine Chappell and was a special effects editor for Game of Thrones, which I believe is quite popular here.

Personally I love animals, but I have a similar thinking pattern whenever I see those animals. I don't understand how people can have so little survival instinct.

I remember this one time I went jogging with a friend into the local woods. Suddenly we came upon strange sounds and a bunch of small piglets were running out of the bushes. I spent 2 seconds looking at them and then started sprinting back instantly as I realized that their mother is not far behind. I was already 20-30 meters away before my friend started moving as the boar began to utter some warning sounds. And this was a ridiculously benign animal in comparison to a bear or a pack of lions.

But let's face it - we men have that survival instinct more ingrained in us. Women are meant to collect berries and play with the kids in safety. They depend on us to protect them or restrain their freedoms for their own good. So far nothing has changed in that regard.

It's a rich fat fuck with a compound bow (porky doesn't have the draw strength for a real bow) paying to shoot a captive lion at close range with another guy there with a gun in case the lion charges. This story reminds me of a news article a year or so ago of that guy who ran a travel blog and went on a motorcycle roadtrip through Mexico to deal/buy drugs deep in Zeta (or some other psycho ridden cartel) territory.

He was warned repeatedly not to go there by federales and people mannning roadblocks because it was a cartel warzone but he went anyways and annoyed some really bad dudes. I don't remember the exact details of his demise but I believe they found him in pieces and he was maybe tortured as well.

I don't know if Lion girl was a good person or not, I think it's irrelevant.

She and the other guy I just mentioned all exhibited special snowflake syndrome which is so common these days in the west.

It's usually pampered suburbanites who have egocentricism and narcissism drilled into them by coddling parents. They don't think reality applies to them because maybe they've been brought up to believe they are exempted from normal rules of society and nature. The "can do" and "positivity" life coach shit dialed to 10 which turns into some delusional personal manifesto in life.

I'm pretty sure the Game of Thrones people can find a replacement sfx editor with just a phone call.
