Exactly. On a proper safari there are armed rangers (at least two...for obvioulsy reasons). This park was not set up for this sort of safari. It was, no is, completely safe if the visitor just obeyed the rules.

I don't think this would be allowed in South Africa, but in Southern Zimbabwe there is a park that allows tourists to "walk with the lions". It's a popular stop on tours between Joburg and Victoria Falls.



I've always considered that just insane, and wouldn't do it if you paid me $10,000. But the point is at least they are set up for contingencies with armed rangers, and a policy of only allowing the walk after the lions have been fed. From what I read this girl had a thing for lions and was in fact due to head to the Zimbabwean "Walk With The Lions" Park the day after she was attacked in SA.

People must have enough sense to realise when a warning is real (don't pat the freaking lions) and can be safely ignored (don't remove the label from your mattress)

I see bears often when I'm working in the bush and know to keep my distance from them especially after a woman was mauled to death by one last year at an oil sands site that I was working on at the time. It was not her fault at all, she was used a portable restroom and as she left and turned the corner the bear pounced on her and tore her to pieces for over an hour while a bunch of her co-workers tried unsuccessfully to beat the thing off, pretty crazy story.

I thought that was pretty revealing as well. It just shows how delusional these women are. It's special snowflake syndrome. People like this are never tested in daily life because U.S. society pampers women to such a degree that popular delusion is fostered in the culture and celebrated in the media.

Reality and rules don't apply until they actually do of course and a lion runs off with their shoulder like a kitty with a ball of a yarn.

So fucking stupid.

This one happily survived - and again I stress for anyone who had cats that they can sometimes play in a strange fashion or "jokingly" bite you. When the animal has claws and teeth like daggers and x-times your strength, then his play is your grave accident.

I guess people did not learn from Siegfried and Roy - and it's not the fault of those animals. It's comparable to try to pet a pack of wild wolves - even if they are well-fed, they have their own behavioral patterns of their species. What is playtime to them is RIP-time for most humans.

I don't understand that quote.

It doesn't matter if she was Hafþór Júlíus "Thor" Björnsson (Gregor Clegane) and 6'9" and 400lbs, it would just be more meat for the lion to feed on.

No human that has ever existed could beat a full grown lion in a fight unless they happened to do some ninja Kenyan villager shit and managed to get a hand down their throat.

That's a 1/1,000,000 scenario though, as the lion is almost certainly going to immediately claw or bite you or knock you over with enough force to break bones.

When we were drilling in southwest Colorado, occasionally someone would see a mountain lion stalking around the perimeter of our rig site.
My trailer was on the edge of the site, at night I was always paranoid one of these cats would take me down from the ditch.

I'm surprised Colorado rarely has any bear attacks on humans. People go hiking and camping all the time in the woods.....personally it freaks me out knowing there are bears and mountain lions around.

They are very shy and avoid humans, but if you stumbled upon a cub in the brush it's mom would come kill all of you easily. If you are hiking in woods it's best to make noise so the animals will avoid you.

I'm not comfortable camping in wooded areas
