I've been messing around on Tinder for the past week or so.
All I seem to get are 30+ washed up ex-carousel riders looking for Beta Bucks.
After reading Rollo Tomassi's blog and his books, I seem to take it as a personal affront when 30+ year old chicks try to get me to jump through their hoops just to get their leftovers after getting gangbanged or trains run on them in their 20s. I used to think that I could dangle the Beta Bucks carrot to get them to come to me, but the problem with that is that they make you wait a few to several dates before putting out. Now I refuse to play that game. /Rant

My photos are pretty good. Some professional solo shots. One shirtless and sun-kissed. One suited up "god" shot. One with me in a group of friends. I lowered the upper limit of age that I'm searching for to 28 to weed out the Beta Buck hunters, we'll see how that goes.

When I tested 29 as my age, I got lots of matches from women in their 20s. Now back at 35 and even though I still match with women in their 20s, women over 30 would have to pay a shocking 拢14.99 per month to match my swiping.
There's two reasons why it's not good to have a profile aged over 30 on Tinder.
Do you really think having fb friends makes any difference?
I have 2 tinder accounts now, and the fb accounts have either zero or 2-3 friends.

There is an obvious reason for its short span of usefulness, which applies mainly to 'static' users(obviously tinder favours people who travel).
Assuming the majority of people's swipes are X(or declining), then every user has a decreasing pool of potential matches/users to swipe. If you're static, and in a small city, your choices drop rapidly within a few weeks.
I went to Puerto Rico. My Tinder was blowing up with matches immediately.
So, I'm out of the US two times in the last two months - both of the times Tinder overwhelms me with options. I'm in the US and it's much more tame.
This could be due to dating realities, or it could be due to Tinder's algorithm. Maybe when someone first arrives in a new area, they show the girls that swipe a lot so that the user gets hooked on the app.
Damn, it would be so interesting to look at Tinder's data, they're probably sitting on a ton of observations about the online dating market around the world.
Has anyone noticed how the amount of Tinder matches decreases with the time you spend in a city? I faked my location a few times to various cities in SEA and in the first few days almost every girl I swiped right was a match. After a week or so I barely got new matches. I wonder what the reason for that is.
@GreenHills: My theory is that if you arrive in a new area, you will show up earlier at most girls Tinder. Sometimes I get a new match just minutes after being in a new city.
On my iphone with ios7 there is no where to edit my profile or have a headline or whatever... I got to let these hoes know I'm Murican. I'm downloading ios8 now and hopefully that will solve my dilemma.
It got wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy harder. Like the quality has plummeted and the girls are super tough. Like, getting a conversation going that leads to a number is rough. I think I'm finally done with tinder.

That has been my experience also. No matter what opener I use, the majority of my matches don't even respond at all. A lot of them respond initially, then don't respond to the follow up. It's just hard to really get anything going at all. Very, very few actually keep responding long enough for me to get a # or a meet.
I noticed I have an unreal amount of girls in my area with mutual friends. Which is a change from a few months ago.. what I don't get is that some 'common connections' have a '1st' beside and others a '2nd'.

I think Tinder changed the algorithm to count mutual friends. Could be that it counts also the mutual friends of your mutual friends. I once found a girl I am friends with on facebook. Tinder showed 44 mutual friends whereas Facebook showed only 4 mutual friends.

If you're static, the amount of people you have to swipe decreases, and consequently the amount of matches you get, will drop.
It's an unchanging dynamic, only changing your location will alter it.

Same experience for me. Very very slow indeed. I've got a good amount of matches to work with, some recent some older. I don't like to sound cynical but it feels like a lot of them like collecting matches.

Not only that - you should put your own age at 28. Tinder has to be tweaked that way.
