Joss Whedon is a huge feminist, probably one of the biggest allies those ugly harpies had in the cinematic world. But apparently in the new Avengers film he didn't make one of the female characters feminist enough (I haven't watched it and probably won't, so someone who is more familiar with the film can fill in the specifics), and the social justice/feminist types went apeshit on him.

I've seen this happen quite often over the years, where feminists will throw one of their own under the bus for a seemingly insignificant slight.

Particularly if it is a man.

It's good though, because it's guaranteed to get at least a small handful of manginas to at least re-consider their position. And that's how we move forward - by winning over one male at a time.

My understanding is that they're angry because Black Widow (Scarlett Johannsen's character) is supposed to be a "Strong Female Character" (meaning she is an asexual cunt who can beat the shit out of men, but still look good-- just for HERSELF, though). But in the new movie, she actually has a love story with Bruce Banner.

The funniest thing the SJWs seem to be upset about is that Black Widow tells Bruce that she will run away with him and leave the Avengers behind. Can you imagine-- a woman choosing love and family over her career??

But then Bruce says he can't be around children because he might turn into the Hulk. And then, Black Widow confesses that she was sterilized when they turned her into an assassin. Apparently this "triggered" some women watching because they felt that the idea of a woman not being able to have children was equated with turning into a giant green monster.

I watched the film. Fairly entertaining as a follow up to the first Avengers film & the Captain America sequel last year.
My understanding of Natasha's description as being a monster is the in film fact that she's killed more people over the years than Bruce Banner as the Hulk ever did.

Looks like all the Buffy the Vampire Slayer goodwill means nothing when these crabs in a bucket decide to be collectively united in being offended about a non event. Ironic how they shuttle between not needing a man & then later needing a man in order to feel good about some insignificant thing. At least the shuttling movement of fireflies in the night are beautiful to look at.

This speaks to a deeper, more troubling issue.

When art is controlled by politics it ceases to be art. It becomes propaganda.

Feminists seek to control artists. Fanatical Christians did this too back in the 1980s. It's repugnant and the antithesis of what art should be in a free society.

Imagine if the Beatles were forced to write "politically correct" songs or else face this wrath. Imagine if filmmakers like Martin Scorcese had to make sure his scripts were "politically correct." What if Stan Lee had to worry about all this when he was at the height of his powers? They'd have ended up creating propaganda to appease the masses, not art for the ages.

What bothers me even worse is that the same liberals who fought for artistic freedom in the old days now champion this oppression when their daughters do it. Recently, a music critic friend of mine posted on Facebook that she was so proud of her daughter and her friends because their petition forced a comic book artist to change his cover art. This is something to be proud of?!

The reality of this should be that if you don't like art you create better art. You don't try and censor the artists. This is how society and art progresses. When the Clash -- for example -- felt that prog rock had gotten stale, they didn't try to get it banned. They helped created a new, exciting genre that made it irrelevant.

But that required smarts and innovation. Two things feminists lack in spades.

I've never cared for Whedon's work. But if he tells this dysfunctional mob to go fuck themselves, he'll have a new fan in me. And I bet a lot of other people too.

I agree Days of Broken Arrows. Ever since this whole Gamer Gate thing, I've wondered why the femidiots don't start their own businesses putting out whatever they want? If they are so sure there's a consumer demand for it, why aren't they jumping on the opportunity?

I know the knee jerk reaction around here will be 'Well, Leftists blah blah blah...' But I'm a Leftist and I run my own business and I know plenty of other Lefties that do as well. So that's not the answer.

I know it takes a certain type of person to start a business, but if Anita Sarkeesian can crowd fund 150,000 dollaridoos for a handful of videos, surely there must be at least a few enterprising feminists out there that should be able to get seed funding for whatever kind of feminist backed business they want to start?

I agree heavily with you though DOBA, and that's right at the heart of GamerGate and every other facet of art these psychos are trying to ruin. They've gotten really brazen with it lately, too. They got that Robin Thicke song banned on campuses, they got GTA V removed from stores in Australia, and I just saw something where they were trying to get Ovid's Metamorphoses taken off the course list at some University (might have been Columbia, which would surprise no one after their handling of mattress girl).

I am trying to make it as an artist and the last thing I want is shackles on my thoughts and ideas as I create. Joss is a fairly good artist but it's hard not to see events like this putting those shackles on him as well. He's earned them though.

Two reasons:

1) They're not authentic agents, so you shouldn't be taking anything they say literally to begin with. They're not actually angry about this new avengers film, they're just using the affectation of rage to put pressure on media producers to apologise and obey their whims.

As with everything else feminist, it's not about art or sex - two things which are entirely beyond their understanding - it's about the acquisition of power. They wish to set themselves up as a cultural hegemon, dictating constantly what can and can't be said; a meagre compensation, perhaps, for the fact they have no power over their own lives.

2) It's far easier to destroy than create.

My main point was that its amazing how many chicks are calling out Whedon to fight in their insults/comments. Imagine how fast things would 180 if there really was some sort of twitter battle arena, where if someone said "fight me you bastard" on twitter you could book 30 min in the twitter octagon to actually have at it.

I remember that the legitimate threat of violence would silence most tough talkers when I was in high school, I would imagine it would be even more effective if there was a risk that keyboard warriors, male and female might actually have to put some muscle behind their words.

Joss played Black Widow with her monster speech.

The Hulk can't control his rage and actions. He feels great remorse.

Bad ass Black Widow, who follows no one's orders, can take care of herself, kicks ass...has spent her life murdering people at the behest of probably corrupt regimes. She seems to feel nothing.

Whereas Bruce kills because he's out of control, she kills willingly. Much like the black widow spider that she is named for.

That's far more wicked and worthy of self flagellation than being sterilized and unable to bear children.

And given how much they monkeyed around with the comic book stories, it's not like the writing staff treats the source material as gospel.

If we are to complain that fathers on television are depicted as feckless nincompoops, always bettered by wives and children, the femmes have a right to complain about every bad ass woman secretly wants a marriage and family.
