Marvel Reveals Iceman Is Gay in New ‘X-Men’ Comic

“There are thousands if not millions of stories of people who, for many different reasons, felt the need to hide their sexuality. The X-Men, with the conceit of time travel, give us a fascinating platform in which to examine such personal journeys,” writer Brian Michael Bendis said in a statement released by Marvel. “This is just the first little chapter of a much larger story that will be told.”

Bendis didn’t want the revelation to be made public before the issue was released, but the news leaked anyway. He addressed the situation in a tweet:

The Iceman news comes after Marvel has announced several changes to its canonical characters in an attempt to make its comic books more accessible to a new generation of readers. Previously, the company gave a woman the power and name of Thor, gave the black Sam Wilson the mantel of Captain America, and made a Muslim teenager the new Ms. Marvel.

The "new generation" must mean women and gays. Superhero comic books were originally meant for young boys.

Fuck Bendis, Stan Lee never created Bobby Drake as a faggot. This shoe horning of gay/female characters is getting tedious now.

Why do they feel the need to alter established characters to suit their SJW agenda? Is it because they're too scared to introduce new gay characters?

I think that they should create gay comics like "Captain Cocksucker" or "Miss Minge Eater" to see how well they sell, instead of ruining well loved characters.

Marvel is well known for introducing SJW or gender politics shit into their comics as far back as the 80's. I remember reading some older Uncanny X-men back in middle school and there was pro-gay politics stuff written into the dialogue. One of the main characters in one storyline (from the 80's) was an outright lesbian. The dialogue even goes deep into it which even my 10 year old self thought was silly.

Plus one of the man heroes in alpha flight is depicted as a fag and that goes way back too.

That is some of the shittiest dialogue I've ever read. It's like they let Lindy West write a comic book.

Since I used to read these as a kid I also can't help but analyze this shit despite how pointless it is to do so, so let's think of the story implications of this for a second. A mind-reading mutant is intrusively barging into Iceman's thoughts and outing him. What the fuck for? What business is it of hers? They need to kill Jean Grey again because she's a dangerous cunt of a character and obviously willing to abuse her powers if she thinks it's the right thing to do. This, to me, reads like some SJW fantasy. "I can read your mind, do what I want you to do or else."

The first X-men movie trilogy had many gay undertones about "hatred" and "acceptance" to the point that forcing them down the moviegoers throat made the movies really really bad and had to reboot them.

I just assumed as far as casting was concerned, Bryan Singer probably fucked all the younger boys on the cast. There was a semi-scandal about that last year that got swept under the rug but probably had some truth to it.

They're trying to imply he's closeted and she's bringing up his future relationship failures as proof. She's a narcissistic, condescending cunt who feels the need to try to change Iceman's future by convincing him he's gay. I imagine she feels like she's doing him a favor, when really she could just as well be dooming him to a life of unhappiness by convincing him he's something he wasn't until these shitty writers got ahold of him.

The writers are unintentionally showing the dark side of telepathic characters who abuse their power here. Instead of taking an "I'll leave him alone and let him figure it out himself" sort of approach she's trying to mold him into what she thinks he ideally should be: a full blown homo.

Are you sure you're not thinking of Minority Report? If so, it's a little different. The mutants are used by the government to predict crime in that which makes them more like prophets rather than mind readers. Still a good story, though.

I have no issue with that, since Falcon and Captain America have a history going back to the 70s.

What I do have an issue with is making a character gay, who was never created as gay, and has never had gay tendencies as far as I know over the last 50 years. I grew up reading Marvel Comics.
