Got around $10k in credit card debt with some pretty high interest rates across 3 cards. Thinking about applying for a $10k unsecured loan to consolidate. If I could get approved for such a loan, it would have a much lower rate than my cards and I could have it paid off in a couple years. Anyone have any opinions/suggestions/alternatives? Seems like the most logical idea to me at this time as I'm eager to get out of debt and start building up some saving as well as better credit.

Do it ASAP - compound interest of credit cards are on ridiculously high levels - always been that way. And next - stop using the cards via rate payments - set it to pay 100% from that day forward.

All successful men I met who managed to accumulate 100 mio. $ in net worth and keep it in the end had one thing in common - paid down both private and even company debt as soon as possible. Only the globalist big corporations with access to unlimited funds can afford a high leverage and high credit rate. But most medium businesses are better advised to cut that to zero. One friend of mine created a company with a turnover of 100 mio. $ and it all collapsed within a year, because it was built on debt and usury. One weak year and it was all gone. In contrast one man I know had several weak years and simply made less money. But he and his company survived because he paid off all loans within 5 years and can stomach decades of weak years so long as he makes a profit. That is the power of being debt free.

The same goes for private life. Simple rules - simple life. Limit debt, spend only what you can afford. Buy a car cash even if you can lease an expensive one. Rather buy a classic car - a 5000$ classic Mustang convertible will impress girls more than a 60.000$ new one. Rather rent than buy property unless you buy a property cheap and can rent it out well (which pays for mortgage) - if you cannot rent your property to cover mortgage, then wait until you have more capital. Your credit worthiness is better used free for other things. That is how you get richer over time.

Thanks zel. Thats what I wanted to hear, though I'm starting to no longer believe the rent vs. mortgage thing unless you live bare minimum and your rent is chump change which most places worth living in the states; it's not. Your monthly note for mortgage vs. rent payment is generally either comparable or mortgage payment is cheaper, and real estate is an asset that you can profit from where rent just goes out the window every month you live in it. At worst you can sell property at a loss but you still will recoup most of your investment where rent you never see any of that money back.

Yeah - rent vs. mortgage real estate depends on the market. Generally it is better to buy an appartment that is smaller and is central and which can be used later to rent out via AirBnB etc. That way you have that option available as well. I know some multi-millionaires who said that they won't buy any property until a net worth of 100 mio. $, but those are real estate investors and they have their reasons for that. However when you buy a property you have to virtually become knowledgable in real estate and think like an investor. Better a central one-bed room appartment than a McMansion in the suburbs - but as I said - it depends on the rent prices in the given location. Long-term paying rent and NOT USING YOUR AVAILABLE CREDIT FOR INVESTMENT does not make sense either so you are right there.

By the way - I live in a privately owned one bed-room in central Krakow. It cost 35.000$ and I can rent it out for 3.500$ yearly net profit. Rent would cost me 300$ or 400$ now here. So it made sense to purchase that - even taking a loan in that situation would have made sense. But usually Return on Investment calculations are more difficult than that. Personally I am an advocate of the minimalist lifestyle until you have attained some high net worth - then you can splash out on anything including a McMansion or a high-quality penthouse.
For example - I intend to move soon and will rent something more luxurious in a different city while I will rent out the one bedroom first via AirBnB or other means. My designated new rental place has a net value of some 300.000$ while I can rent it for 1000$ here. Note the difference in ROI and which of those real estates is the better buy or rent.

Credit karma is your best friend, they'll show you offers that you can easily get based on your credit score. I helped someone with a ton of misc debt with high interest rates find and consolidate it into a single monthly payment. They got off with a pretty decent interest rate of 9.25% considering a credit card is 19% or higher depending on your credit.

A 700 range credit score should net 10% or less on a consolidation loan.

I've done this before with great success. My oldest card I've had for about 9 years and I had pretty much maxed it out at one point and wanted to acquire more credit and unload that debt that was @ ~15% interest. I got another card with a 0% APR for the first 12 months and transferred the balance. Payed it off within the 12 month introductory window.

Problem here is even if I got my hands on a card that I could unload that debt onto, I'm not going to find a card that has longer than 12 month 0% APR and I certainly ain't paying off $10k in one year's time unless I am walking one day and trip on a gold bullion or someone in my family dies and I get a lot of money.

I generally don't cancel cards as having multiple accounts and lots of available credit is great for your credit rating, and like you said length of accounts is a big one so I would be stupid to cancel cards I've had for many years.

Looking like I may have to slug it out with my own money and just pay this high interest bullshit raw. I just applied for a handful of loans off of lending tree and credit karma and I'm getting denied left and right... ironically primarily for amount of credit utilization which is the reason I want to consolidate my debt in the first place. My credit score is not great but it's fair-good. Bullshit.

A friend of mine is asking for advice on what to do in the future. He's purple pill (with regards to women he is quite blue pill but is red pilled about politics and money) and is extremely smart, which is probably what attracted me to him as a friend.

He doesn't want to go to university as none of the secure, traditional well-paid jobs interest him (think medicine, engineering, law) although he has excellent A level results (he has left public education and is currently doing a few side-business jobs to get money) and could easily get in to any of those.

What's an alternative route that he could do? I suggested developing his side business but he doesn't think it's going to be viable for long. He's definitely the 'winner' type, is almost a genius and is a mix of extrovert and introvert so I think business would be the best for him. But can he get in to business (aside from starting his own) without a degree?

Go for it. I did the same thing. It's well worth it if the interest rate is right. One of the lenders is bound to except you.

Obviously the globalists are restricting money supply. That is how they create recessions or depressions. Back 130 years ago they published the joint restriction and expansion in their Bankers' magazines. I even read those magazines one time and could not believe my eyes. Now it is only a "coincidence" and the "invisible hand of the market".

In boom years you would have gotten it easily. Sucks, but that's life. At least you don't have 150.000$ debt for a gender studies degree.

Doesn't sound like he's the type that would be into trade school but it's a good option. There are plenty of certification courses like HVAC and such that can be taken pretty inexpensively at the local community college. Go straight from the cert right into a job without all that college debt. I was thinking about taking an HVAC myself for the hell of it. It be nice to be able to fix stuff in the home when they break down.

When I say smart, I mean almost genius level and not just academically, he is good at interacting with people. I'm not sure he'd want to do trade school (apprenticeship is the UK equivalent) as it wouldn't be challenging enough and there isn't enough progression or scope to make big money.

I'm thinking business as he has already dabbled with that, but there isn't a clear route without a degree.

Don't go crazy applying for credit if they do hard pulls on your report, because that ruins your chances with another lender if they see you're hitting up everyone in town for cash. Hard pulls stay on for a year and hurt your score.
