How did you end up in Roosh V Forum?
What's your story?

How did you end up joining this great forum? It was your first contact with the game/travel lifestyle?

What brought you here?

RE: How did you end up in Roosh V Forum?
Somebody linked to Roissy on another forum I go on (it's the only other forum I go on--don't want to sound like a dweeb), and from there I found RooshV.

I barely read Roissy anymore, but I regularly read the stuff on Roosh's blog. I still think Roissy's blog up to around 09ish is the best thing on the "manosphere", but lately I've been reading Roosh and Danger & Play more.

This place is great. I think there are things that could be improved--things that affect any online place where people exchange ideas, like giving advice that is not tied to your experience. That said, overall this is a cool place, and that problem I mentioned happens far less than in other places.

I have been meaning to post a thread with this very question for some time.

Basically, a friend of mine was researching online about girls in South America. He had wanted to travel there after hearing about my stories. He came across Roosh's blog and then told me about it because Roosh's analysis was very similar to what I had told him about my adventures. I then started reading the stuff on Roosh's site and was amazed at how similar our views about South American countries were and how we had traveled to many of the same places. Then I exchanged a few e-mails with Roosh. That's how I eventually found the forum. I saw what the guys were talking about and felt I could also contribute because of my experiences.

Interestingly enough, this same friend who told me about Roosh also put me onto the game. I had never formally studied game in the past. I just behaved as I naturally do, which is really based on similar concepts. It's just I never had terms or thought mechanically about this stuff. But after I was in a particular LTR that went downhill, as well as my experiences in Latin America, I started becoming open to new ideas. My boy who told me about Strauss, etc. has always done well with women, even better than me, so I trusted his advice and figured "what do I have to lose?" Though we were both getting laid, it started becoming less fulfilling because we weren't consistently going at top-level women. Now, I feel that's what the game is about. I started reading about these ideas and enjoyed learning new terms and the science behind the laws of attraction and how to seduce beautiful women.

However, nothing hit closer to home than Roosh's writings and the forum because it has an international focus, which my boy and PUAs like Strauss don't really talk about or haven't experienced yet.

I'm glad to see there's a community that agrees with my views about women in the US, etc.

This has been an invaluable resource for me in so many ways.

Been reading Roosh since the DC Bachelor and First Date DC days, so when he announced he'd started a forum it was just natural to check it out. Really great stuff going on here.

A link from Willy Wonka's blog. I had read Roosh's stuff before but I'd had a real aversion to forums in general for years until I stumbled here.

RE: How did you end up in Roosh V Forum?
Well for me , I found Roosh V forum while searching for information about the night/dating scene in Sweden, because at the time I was planning to study there.
In the end i didn't make it to Sweden , but I've been a regular in the blog/forum since.

It was very good to discover this place by mere luck, otherwise probably I would never had found it.

In Brazil, 99% of men don't know what "game" is, and my only contact with game before was when I was working for a german industry in SP years ago , and a guy who worked there sent me a pdf of Paul Janka's "Getting laid in NYC".The guy has lived in the US for a while, and told me about this book on seduction and lifestyle.

I've read it, found it quite interesting but unrealistic , and after that I never had any other experience with game material, sticking to the numbers game and analising my own experience to get laid without any "external" resource.

I don't like "mainstream" game gurus, I never had any interest in learning stuff from Mystery , etc.

In one way or another, It was always my personal goal to live a different life,to travel and to meet new girls and people in different places, instead of seeking the "safety" of an average cubicle job and marriage, like most of my friends.

I also remember that the movie "Rudy' was a great inspiration source for me back in the days, and this mindset allowed me to achieve some professional and personal goals that were far ahead from what my neighborhood fellas were achieving.

So Roosh's books ans this forum are being a great source of inspiration for me in these days, I'm implementing some important changes in my professional/personal life much because of what I discussed in this forum.

What I like the most is that Roosh approaches game as a natural part of life,as something that can be learned by any "normal" willing man, and not the nerdy snake oil peackcocking bullshit that you see everywhere.

RE: How did you end up in Roosh V Forum?
I was reading some posts at Roissy's blog, and I had decided to seek out some similar like minded reading material so I visited the links he had listed on the side of the page. Roosh's website hit home for me, I feel that his material/writing was more practical for a young man just trying to survive in cut throat America. I had read the articles for a long time but I had never bother to visit the forum (I had always had something against internet forums). Once I visited the forum I was really impressed by the wealth of information and perspectives offered by men. A lot of what I read had resonated with me, for years I knew something was up with male/female relations but every time I spoke my mind on it I was either labeled sexist or shamed. What i've learned here is that how I reacted was perfectly fine and quite normal, this + Roosh's books have been an invaluable resource.

I was going to stay a friend's house in Brazil and I googled Brazilian girls for "recon."

I liked what I read, read the links (Roissy) and that's how it all started.

RE: How did you end up in Roosh V Forum?
I read "The Game" back in 2007, based on the reviews over at amazon. I am a book freak, and on occasion I like to take chances on books that seem random.

Although I found Neil's and Mystery's approach a little "weird", it opened my mind to the possibility of change. I could handle this part of my life in a different way.

Some 6 months or more, after reading a lot of material from those guys mentioned in "The Game" and practicing, I landed a hot girl, which became my LTR for slightly over 2 years.

She was hysterical, manipulative and unstable, and when we broke up, I felt like crap and felt like I had lost all my skills, so I started reading on "game" again. I ran into Roosh's "Bang" on amazon, googled him and started reading his blog. After some 5 months of reading him, reading through many of his past posts, I started lurking around the forum till I joined.

And it remained an inspiration ever since.

yea that idea of "change" is so huge. looking back it's retarded that it took me so long to realize I could consciously improve with women. it's no different than learning math, becoming a better public speaker, or improving your sales skills at a job.

maybe I'm a conspiracy theorist but I sometimes wonder if there are people that perpetuate self-defeating memes because they don't want men to be sexually satisfied and happy...or maybe it's just advertising.

god I suck at staying on topic lol

RE: How did you end up in Roosh V Forum?
I posted a thread on this a while back, but it's good to hear people's stories of finding Roosh. I like a lot of people, was trying to research how to meet and bang Brazilian women, as I had planned a trip there and very much wanted to capture my Brazilian flag.

I have a feeling the google search engine has been very kind to Roosh, and to be honest I'm surprised that there wasn't more info. out there on the web, Roosh really is a pioneer in this "international playboy" lifestyle and writing guides on how to meet various countries' women.

Lastly, I got to agree with the guys on here, as cheesy and gay as it sounds, I feel like finding Roosh's work changed my life. I was a hopeless beta, completely given up on pursuing and fucking women, my only luck would come once in a very blue moon when a girl would come on to me, or make it very clear that she was very interested.

Finding Roosh's blog, this forum, and reading Bang/discovering "game" has transformed me to a completely different person (when it comes to women), and I wouldn't ever want to go back to the person I was before this discovery. worship

Someone on a Melbourne, Australia Lair Forum had Roissy/Citizen Renegade/heartiste's blog linked on his forum signature. I first found Roosh off there, and doing so has changed my life.

Advertising, church, state...

Out of my drunk daze drinking pinapple wine in Maui, I say you should consider creating a thread on this...

"Memetics" is a very interesting topic, but most of our "social conditioning" is done uncosciously. Most people that "perpetuate self-defeating memes" do it without conscious awareness of such, so I don't see it as a "conspiracy"... as see it as "accidents" that just stick around through time and go unquestioned.

That is also known as "culture". Culture as "accidents".

Meanderings can be quite fruitful.

Googling about alpha's and beta's in humans led me to Roissy's Beta of the Month and then to Roosh. I thought the forum was really just going to be fluff and I stuck to Roosh's articles for a while but when I took a good look I found this place is truly one of a kind and I look forward to contributing.

He keeps changing his name. It's heartiste now, whatever the hell that is.

I also got here via Roissy. I forget what led me to Roissy, might've been the sosuave forums.

Roissy is hands down the greatest Game blogger around (sorry Roosh). I consider his blog the Bible of game these days now that the Mystery Method era of guru's trying to rip you off has subsided.

Funny that you say that, as I've read through a bit of Roissy's stuff, and I've just never been that impressed with it. Not to say that there isn't game knowledge to be gained, or maybe it's something to do with his writing style, but I get 10 X more out of Roosh's stuff. Anyway, as long as your are gaining something at the end of the day, that's all that matters.

RE: How did you end up in Roosh V Forum?
Oddly enough I first got introduced to the game through Carlos Xuma's book "The Secrets of the Alpha Male"... very corny title, but content itself was a bit of a revelation to my sad nice guy self. It did a good job of getting me thinking life, masculinity, and women in general. From there I sort of stumbled around the pua scene, but all of those self pro-claimed gurus just kept giving me the distinct feel of infomercial sellers, all fluff and no substance.

Eventually as I was researching traveling plans I came across Naughty Nomad's site, and it really struck home for me. I had never really considered the value of traveling abroad in relation to women, and he linked to this forum. Here I was able to find a community of guys sharing practical information, and it just sort of clicked for me.

The rest of course is history.

Respectfully disagree. Don't get me wrong: Roissy has dropped some good knowledge. However, I find his stuff to be over-written, preachy (usually with right-wing ideology), and entirely too long half the time. He comes off as outright angry sometimes. He's hit or miss.
