i've started to put about a dime size portion of this shit into my hair before i go to bed and when i wake up the next morning my hair looks naturally shiny. this stuff is great. in the past week i've been using this, my skin has looked so much more fresh and moisturized, and my hair has more of a natural sheen.

Coconut oil and coconut water are both the bomb. I take some of both everyday but I didn't know about it's hair and skin properties. I'll have to try that. Take coconut oil and water and around 5-10,000 units of vitamin D3 a day and you'll never get sick again.

I'll admit that my home base is in a warmer climate but I spent the last two years travelling in the northern part of North America and western Europe and didn't get sick once. And that was flying 30+ times a year. Lot's of sick people on planes.

Just bought the coconut oil from a huge Indian store here. The shyt smells legit, put some on my face and scalp. Gonna sleep with it over night. Gonna put some on my balls a la kosko. Also, gonna take a bottle over to a lizard's place and rub her down with it. Gonna lick her all over till she squeals like a mouse trapped in a piano.

Get "dermatological gloves." They're white cotton gloves at a pharmacy.

Put on the oil, then put the gloves over them, then throw over a pair of plastic gloves over them.

I have calluses on my palms, but the tops of my hands were looking like alligators.

now they are super smooth.

Whats the difference between coconut water, milk and oil. Can someone break it down? I bought some cans of coconut milk on sale and after I downed one I felt like a champ for the rest of the day.

Do you guys apply it to your hair as a liquid or when its more solid? At room temp it's kind of like butter, easier to handle like a gel, but maybe as a liquid it can soak into the hair more effectively?

I've taken at least 2 tablespoons virtually everyday for the past 12 - 13 years. I put it in my post workout smoothies. My chick uses it in desserts.
I've even used it to make cannabis-coconut butter.
I like to mix it with raw cacao butter and use it on my skin.

For maximum health benefits, it's best to get it unrefined.

I use about 1/2 tbsp to 1 tbsp with my scrambled eggs every morning. Adds a little flavor to them and makes them really easy to cook...eggs will not stick to the pan.

Now, the thing to note here is that in most coconut oil manufacturing processes chemicals are used to expedite drying as well as to speed the heating process. However, if you select an organic coconut oil, no chemicals will have been used during processing and the original coconut itself will have been grown without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Regular coconut oil production, however, often subjects the coconut meat to chemical solvents in order to maximize extraction. If you want to avoid any chemical residues, stick to organic coconut oil. This shouldn’t be difficult, since most coconut oil available in stores seems to be organic.

One other thing to note is that with coconut oils there are many different grades, or values of refinement. According to the Asian and Pacific Coconut Community Standards for virgin coconut oil, coconut oil can only be sold as such when it is “obtained from the fresh and mature kernel of coconut by mechanical or natural means with or without the application of heat, which does not lead to alteration of the oil.”

Refined coconut oil – which is generally what you’ll see in stores – is made from copra, the dried meat of the coconut. However, because the process of drying the coconut is somewhat unsanitary – it includes laying them out in the sun, putting them in a kiln, or smoking them – the oil is inedible, and is therefore required to undergo a refinement process that includes some combination of using high heat to deodorize the oil, filtering the oil through bleaching clays, adding sodium hydroxide to remove impurities and prolong shelf-life, or performing some kind of hydrogenation or partial-hydrogenation process. In industry terms refined coconut oil is RBD – refined, bleached, deodorized.

The choice is clear – steer clear of the refined stuff and stick with organic virgin coconut oil.

A word of warning about coconut oils labeled as extra virgin. Experts note that there is no other – or more virginal – process of extracting oil from coconuts and the concept of the “extra” is nothing more than a marketing ploy.

Coconut oil is less sensitive to heat than other oils (won’t oxidize as easily) so it’s great for stir-frys and sauteeing. You can substitute it in baking (when making Primal energy bars, for example) and in recipes that call for butter, lard or any other high-saturated fats. It is fairly similar in consistency to butter so it can be used as a spread for vegetables. It makes an excellent addition to a smoothie and can also be used in place of a creamer in coffee or tea.

Our verdict? This is one seriously tropical way to get some more healthy fat in your diet.

Coconut oil is great and a great source of energy before your workout.
Put a spoonful or two in your coffee before you lift or do HIIT, it will give you amazing energy.
Especially do this if you do IF and lift before you break your fast.
