Nice.

Didnt you mention that driving in DR is suicide?

Is it any different than central America?

Did you notice any decent cheap bikes in the DR?

Riding around central America and Mexico was some of the best riding of my life.

Those dudes were riding the north and mountains ranges/trails mostly which is way safer than in the cities and you don't see big enduros much where I was so I didn't bother shopping them out especially because you can rent them. If you look through the pics it tells more than I could say about it but here's a pic of the common ride there. The Suzuki version two stroke is the most popular I think a nice one is around 900 bucks or so.

Thats decent. Two stroke 125s are fun. $900 is pretty cheap too, that Tom guy spent $1500 on his Yamy in 1995.

Man I love reading shit like this.

My next bike trip is through China on some shit Chinese two stroke enduro.

RE: Motorcycle travel DR and Panama
Had to double post.

I have been reading this guys blog for two days now and I am amazed at how cool Hispaniola is. This part in particular has me thinking about a trip down there and a ride around.

I have never really thought about the Caribbean being a place for adventure riding. The logistics are much more sound than other places I have had on the burner (China, Vietnam, Russia and the Stans).

Love this:
Quote:Pedernales is the southern start of the border trail not found on any maps. My only account is a few sentences in a guidebook mentioning “an extremely steep and rocky remote trail” That’s what I’m looking for, I can feel it, everything is more. More thought goes into the route, contingencies, supplies, presentation, packing. Scenarios and solution play out in my head, it's like being more alive.
I must have a hundred similar notes written down from the rides I have done.
