That map is old and needs to be updated. Brasil is no longer a 3rd world country, in the north, a 2nd and 3rd world in remote places but in most places, it's a 2nd and in the big cities, a first world country.

As to the original poster, he needs to be more open minded when he travels to third world countries or stay in resorts if he's too easily offended by the real world.

Every country has a bit of 3rd world, 2nd world and first world. Even here in Canada, some places are very 3rd worldish and idem in the US.

Ha just joking about Greece even though they are trying to bankrupt the rest of us!

I've got to say from the way he describes it that is does sound like a shit hole and whilst it is unfair to blame it on the local people it doesn't sound like a great place to visit.

I cancelled a trip to India for exactly this reason, I'd heard too many stories about dead people lying on the side of the road, people crapping in the street and being constantly harassed by beggars, it didn't sound very appealing to me.

I have buddies married to some of these girls. One wont let his kids in the house and treats her own like gold and the other moved her ex old dude mail order husband in with them so she can steal his money. She makes the old guy dinner and not for my friend. He is having a bad time. He deserves it as punishment for 20 years of white knighting. The other dude does as well. He smokes weed all day and wouldn't even try to get a girl the regular way. I think his mom even bought her for him because he was complaining about pussy too much.

I chat with a couple girls who live there and Jakarta as well and they fucking hate it. The girl from Jakarta is about 25 and hot as hell. She would leave that place with anyone who offered from what she says.

I could see that. If you are planning on settling down somewhere, the Philippines and its women might not be so ideal. But after being a while in Quito, Ecuador, I'm down for easy asian women in a tropical location for a couple of months.

Ya philpines is on the low end of 3rd world countries. Thailand and Brazil are also 3rd world but they are in a different class. There is not much difference between Greece and Brazil. I mean when you consider that there are still tribal people in Brazil when accounting for their GDP and many parts of Brazil are more developed than Greece, it becomes clear the world system is not a good classifier. All one would have to do is look at how expensive Moscow is and its 2nd world but poor and cheap places like portugal and greece are 1st world. Anyway the world system is political. 1st world = post ww2 allies of usa; 2nd world = ussr and allies; 3rd world = everyone else. So under such a system Greece, turkey, french guiana US allies and nato member is 1st world, but Qatar, Bermuda, and Dubai are 3rd world.

Anyhow, I'd urge white guys to be careful in Asia, many of those women are in line with Russian women and see you as nothing more than a ticket to 11st world

Yeah, the first, second and third world system is outdated, there is no such thing as second world since the end of cold war. Better system is Human Development Index and the 4 categories of Very high human development, High human development, Medium human development and Low human development

Dubai 3rd world? Ah! That's a bad joke or what? Only a total moron would think that. Compared to Dubai, most places in North America and even Europe are 3rd world. In fact, returning from Tokyo, Toronto and even NYC are 3rd world. No iffs or buts. Idem for Hong Kong, Singapore and Abu Dhabi.

The whole 1st, 2nd, and 3rd world country thing only has to do with which side a country took during the cold war. There's really no reason to debate which countries are 3rd world. Dominican Republic is third world because they took no side during the Cold War, same as all other 3rd world countries. It just so happens that most countries that took no sides in the war i.e. 3rd world countries happen to be extremely pour. I'm fairly certain the Bahamas are a 3rd world country as well, but the bahamas certainly don't look like Rochinha.

And @ Vacancier Permanent: Sure, in Southern Brazil there are many very rich areas, but also take into consideration 5 blocks from those rich areas are some of the most dangerous slums in the world. I hear Northern Brazil is extremely impoverished. I know there are places in the North where there are people starving and without water.

What's with all the OP hate? Personally I wouldn't go through a sewer for some pussy. I haven't been to Philippines but the extreme poverty stories are common. Why should a dude deal with that shit when he can go to Thailand, or pretty much anywhere else in Asia? This "man up" bullshit is getting annoying.

I personally like reading negative trip experiences. To me it put's the place in a more honest perspective than some dude praises that everybody and everything is fucking amazing. Wasn't there a guy on the board here that ends up in Busan, Korea after "researching" the place and hating it almost immediately? I blame it on the "everything is fucking amazing" people than "let's kill 60% of population" people.
