I'm in the DR.

Having known dozens of weird-looking and happy (or not) Dominicans in my recent history, visiting here has felt something like going home.

One thing that I've noticed is that while Dominicans are a friendly lot, I've noticed some bad Western behavior creeping in. The motherfuckers on the plane were engrossed in their phones and laptops, and didn't talk to me or seem to be open to me talking to them.

I'm also pleasantly surprised at the quality of women so far. Even just walking around a nondescript part of Santo Domingo, I see interesting-looking 6's and 7's. What's more, they walk without bitch shields, so far. I think that day game could work well. I hope to do more of that.

The daytime heat is at its peak now and after things cook down, I shall head out to explore...

Can anyone recommend a website here that is for more casual hookups? Someone recommended skout and tango, but it didn't seem to work well for me. Something like adult friendfinder.com would be great.

You can get casual hookups on dominican cupid, badoo, etc but its such a mix.

I have been here a few days. Some first impressions:

I did not enjoy Santo Domingo enough to stay more than a couple days, as I had planned all along. BUT. I will say that, compared to Santiago, where I am now, it has a few things going for it.

Santiago is more upscale and pretentious, more white-washed, which really is not my thing. I feel more comfortable and at home in anything goes Santo Domingo. In Santo Domingo I was hanging out in mixed groups - me (white), black and mestizo Dominicans. It felt more natural. But in Santiago my overall impression is that it is not normal for different races to mix to any meaningful degree.

The next time that I come to the DR I think it might be worthwhile to, pre-departure, get some experience on a motorbike or motorcycle, get my motorcycle license, and rent a bike in the DR. On the bus from Santiago to Santo Domingo we passed what Sly called the campo:

Poor Dominicans drinking rum and listening to music all day, living on $100 per month in their shacks. The thing is that these places are a pain in the ass to get to. Next time (I will almost certainly be back, the DR is a lot of fun), I want to rent a motorcycle and visit all the waterfalls, campos, weird places, etc. Maybe even Haiti. The buses are fine, air-conditioned and comfortable, but from what I can see it is a bit of a pain to visit anything off the beaten track. The DR is such a small country that you can motorbike across it in half a day.

Sly or someone else said that gaming here is not so much about game but instead your Spanish abilities. I would say that that is true. Just being decently-dressed, a good guy, and with the minimal amount of balls that it takes to talk to girls here means that you will get a number or two at the least without trying too hard. You will know what I mean when you arrive. People are just really friendly here, and the overall vibe is much less stressful than in the West. Talking to people is much easier. Social circle game is big. The way that I got to talking with good-looking girls here is by befriending the males first.

That said, girls are open to gringos who do not speak Spanish very well. In other words, the DR is pretty much a haven for gaming, compared to the West.

I agree, its pretty easy. And using google translate to learn spanish with the girls is very possible. But easier online. or after you get their number on the street.

By the way, I hit up a reasonably high class jewelry and design event in Santo Domingo yesterday. Hot girls selling their stuff in a popular cafe/art gallery. Place was packed with hotness. Got a few business cards.

On the way out I started talking to a cute girl in her group. The tall, white, snob alpha female said "you can meet her boyfriend, who is inside the show". to which I responded "I would love to, he must be a cool guy". Then I said to my girl "are you allowed to talk to strangers?" The group scurried off....

Damn... I want me some high class Dominicana....

Any of you fellas still in Santo Domingo? I just arrived today. I had my buddy take me straight to the airport after a long night of drinking and banging out his friend in Havana. I got zero sleep before my flight. I slept most of my flight, but when I arrived in Santo Domingo I was still half drunk. I tried calling thedriver but he was busy. Said he could send me a guy but it would be 30 minutes. I was too tired to wait around, but he recommended a hotel for me, not even sure my driver dropped me off at the right one, but the place is all right anyways. I'm right next to ciudad nueva. Is this a good spot to be in? I haven't done much but slept and went to a restaurant. Waiting until tomorrow to check out the area. I really need to get some rest, Cuba drained me.

Yeah, I'm here. I saw your PM. I've never heard of Ciudad Nueva. Its probably either boring or a dangerous shithole, sorry. If it's on the eastside it''s not an ideal location for a foreigner to stay. Be careful walking around on the East Side by yourself.

I'm a couple blocks from parque independencia. Maybe the area is called Gazcue? It's hard to tell on my google maps. It's seems to be in the center of SD. Zona colonial doesn't look far.

Yeah I don't know what's going on. I tried deleting the messages, it says they have been deleted and the don't show up in my inbox, yet it still says my inbox is full. My Internet is being weird at my hotel. It's let's me do some things but not others. I tried downloading tagged, and I successfully downloaded it, but now it's not letting me send messages.

Thanks Giovonny, problem solved. When I go out to have a cigarette on my balcony prostitutes will just stop and stand there and try to get my attention. A little annoying, but still not as bad as Cuba.

That's sounds like a great idea.. I rode motorbikes in Puerto Plata But the real panty dropper is 600cc or more. I tried to get the driver to rent one when I came Santo Domingo He said it not a great idea to be all over the city. Is it dangerous ?

I have personally witnessed a few minor motorcycle collisions in the DR, all dominicans riding. My friend posted on FB a photo of a human foot that was lodged in a car wheel after an accident he witnessed (dude died).

People here tend to drive like maniacs. No headlights at night on country highways. Weaving through traffic. Busy Intersections with no stopsign or light. I'm not saying don't do it. But it wouldn't be my first choice. I supposed a highly experienced rider would do okay. A car is a far safer bet though.

Agreed, and just to add to that, there are tons of hidden potholes everywhere, even driving around with a SUV with good suspension you can feel how deep the potholes are going over them, with a 600cc superbike.. well, at your own risk.

Damn man. I just moved into a hotel on el Conde and the hustle is super hard here. Shit gets annoying, but it's not as bad away from the parks and off el Conde. Some girl tried coming up to me and telling me she though I was cute and wanted to suck me off for free. I kept walking and she followed me into a store where I was looking for presents for my family. She kept trying to tell me to go to her friends shop. I could tell she was trying to get me robbed or something. Every store I go into they follow me step for step. It's so annoying. They basically talk me out of buying anything. I can't stand that shit when people try and haggle me and tell me what I should buy. I want to look for what I want, I don't need suggestions, I know what I like. Then when you ask a price, they practically grab onto and beg for you to buy it. People got hustling so ass backwards in all three of the places I've been in the Caribbean. They just don't get it. Begging and pestering is not gonna make you money. People have literally talked me out of buying stuff at least 3 times on this trip. When they come up and start hounding me I just walk out of their store, even if I did potentially see something I like. Then you have the guys trying to follow you and "show you around." I always have to be a dick because they'll follow you and then expect money. You always have to be stern with those assholes. I'm always nice at first, then when they start following me and try showing places that I'm already walking I have to stop and say something like, "look! I just want to walk around by myself. I don't want to know where anything is, I'm exploring for myself. I'm not giving you any money, get out of here." As soon as I tell then in not giving them money they usually duck off though.

I realize this is the tourist area so of course there's gonna be a hustle, but people hustle harder in the Caribbean than anywhere I've ever seen. And yet even though they do it so much, they're so terrible at it. Who knows though, maybe it does work on very dumb tourists. Regardless though, my hotel as baller as fuck for $50 a night. I don't mind being in the tourist area since I'm only here 6 days and don't know anyone. Not like in gonna get a real strong grip of the area in 6 days regardless of where I stay. I just don't like getting pestered every 20 feet. There are lots of cool nice sites to see around here though. It's a very old city for the Americas.

In other news, just walked around and saw some tourist crap today. Got my hair cut and bought some new shoes because I fucked mine up touring the tobacco farms in Cuba by horse. I've been wiped out the last couple days. I'm ready to hit it tomorrow though. Got two dates lined up. One I have a feeling will flake and the other I'm almost positive will not. She wanted to talk to me on the phone and called me in my hotel room. We talked for about a half hour. Wish I could have pipelined a little more before, but it would have been near impossible in Cuba unless I sat around and paid $8 an hour, wasting a lot of time and money. It was actually pretty nice in a way to be without Internet for a couple weeks. There were a few things I needed to do though that I could only do with Internet and it was a hassle.

What hotel are you staying at? I like Roma 2 on el conde; huge rooms, newer furniture, fridge, and its inexpensive

The place I'm staying was just renamed and remodeled so you may not recognize, but it's casa Conde. The rooms are tiny, but it's nice and chique, a boutique hotel so rooms are usually small. Breakfast is included, I just ate and it was great. My only complaint is the wifi is spotty, but that seems to be the case in many places. The place doesn't look very nice from the outside, but inside it looks great. You would hardly even notice it walking by, the entrance is just a tiny door in between two stores.

Well for nightlife in Zona Colonial I recommend Onno's and 77 (siete siete). I personally saw my friends get SNL's from Onno's.

Plus there are a ton of little hidden bars all over the place in zona colonial, especially the blocks south of el conde on Calle Sanchez. But really all over the place there are tons of nice clubs hidden away. The higher end ones tend to be near plaza Espana and Plaza Colon. I'm sure there are some good data sheets on here.

Thanks dude! The chick I linked up with is gonna take me to a spot she knows in zona colonial tonight, then were headed to venezuela afterwards. She is legit, not a broke girl looking for money. She has a car and everything. I was shocked when we started walking and she said, "let's go to the malecon." We stopped in the sidewalk next to a car and she said, "come on." I didn't think she would have had a car, meeting her through pipelining. She even let me drive it all around town. It was my first time driving out of the states. I was a little hesitant at first, but driving here isn't so bad, you just have to be aggressive. Biggest drawback about the girl though, she doesn't drink that much. That means a cheaper date, but harder lay. Also, she looked better than I thought she would. Her photo was a little blurry, and she only had one. I figured she'd turn out to be ugly, but not the case at all. I'd call her a solid 7. She's a molata, which I like. I find a lot of girls in SD to be a little too black. I love those light skinned black girls though. I really thought there would be more white people here.

Regarding safety, is it pretty safe to walk around all hours or what time should I start taking cabs?

Its not really safe at any time anywhere in this country. It's almost not even worth worrying about safety. I met a girl a few days ago who was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight on one of the busiest streets in a central area near Naco. Zona colonial is dangerous to be honest. But, yeah after about 9-10 at night there are a lot less folks on the street and it gets shadier. I've been lucky that I haven't been robbed after living in the DR a year. I definitely thought I would be robbed many a times walking around at night. But then again, I don't go looking for trouble on the east side like Fisto and crew...jaja.

By the way, I hit up a badass late night bar that opens at 3 am when the other bars close. Its fuckiing amazing and its in the colonial zone but hidden as fuck. Though most of the locals know about it if you ask them. I also heard about a few bars in Naco with the hot white skinned girls. PM Me for the goods...

We were opened last night by a pair of 8.5s at one of the bars. These girls were near the top of the chart. My girl looked like Jenny Mcarthy back in the day. The set was going great until my friend said "DR girls have great asses'. The girls agreed. I "saved" the set by then proceeding to ask one of the girls to stand up and give us a twirl to show off the dominican ass... Then she ran off ditching her friend. Surprisingly jenny Mcarthy was cool with it... I then fell into beta mode for some reason... I think I'm getting rusty from all the easy pickings at the grocery store....jaja

I think I'm really starting to get a blood lust for dificult white dominicanas.... And a new desire to hit up the bars in my area. Apparently some of the absolute best clubs for girls are within a few blocks of my house...

Man, that girl took me to onnos, it was great. I think I may know where you're talking about, that after hours spot. I we drove by and it looked packed at 3, everyone was going from the bar we were at to there. It's right by a big white church, and the street above it is very colorful, and heads up into a hill? I leave santo domingo Sunday and head to punta cana. I meet up with four friends. Santo Domingo is definitely awesome, wish I had another couple weeks here. I'll definitely be coming back especially since flights are so cheap. The women are great. Food tastes good. People are friendly. I didn't see safety being much of an issue. Even the beaches east of santo domingo are nice. I went to one today with this girl I met called Juan something or other. It was sick! I had heard boca chica and mentioned it but she said it wasn't that great.

I ended up meeting a bad ass Dominican Canadian at the club last night, she grew up in Canada with Dominican parents, but had been living in the DR the last 6 months. I was supposed to meet her tonight but flaked because I was with the other girl and knew it was a sure thing with this other girl. Plus, the Canadian girl did act a little too westernized, but not to the extent of most American girls. It worked out well, I had the Dominican girl in my room when I made the call to flake, Dominican girl speaks no english, but unfortunately Canadian Dominican can't meet up tomorrow. I told her oh well, maybe next time. I also told her if she could make it to punta Cana this weekend she was welcome.

I wrote my friends and told them alcohol here was probably cheaper than in punta Cana and asked them if I should grab a bunch of rum. They all wanted to drink Jameson or jäger. Fucking Americans. Can't even drink rum while in the Caribbean. I told them to just buy that stuff in the states because it was probably cheaper. These next six days starting Wednesday are gonna be a shit show. I'll probably pretty much be drunk 6 days straight. God, as if Cuba wasn't enough.

Also, was the internet fast? I really want to go there this year but the only downside is that I am making money at the moment through the internet and I don't think I will have much access to the internet there. Still, I may just go check it out for 2 weeks, even though I prefer longer stays.
