Well CM Punk locked himself away for a year to train after his defeat to Mickey Gall.
Still dont think that is enough time to get to the level of UFC but still curious to see the fight. If he loses, this will be his last match and gonna be cut.

All the WWE fans think he will be next Brock Lesnar.

Is this so?

Did he said it at one of his interviews?

It's actually quite hilarious that the Main Event goes to a 0-1 guys vs another 0-1 guy lol.

0.2 pounds over. Unfortunate that Romero being a older guy that his body couldn't handle the weight cut. Weight cuts are brutal on the body and mind. It get apparently harder to cut weight with age too.

If you haven't seen anyone have a weight cut, it is really bad. I seen a guy's d head literally shrink, another one pass out from exhaustion. The human body is not meant for such heavy weight cuts as these professionals are doing.

I remember asking my couch if i were to compete what weight class I would be in. I am 5'7 maybe 5'8 with around 20 percent bodyfat around 175-170.
The best weight class apparently for me would be 135 or 145. That means first losing fat to then cut around 20-10 pounds.

Yoel mistimed his roid cycle and couldn't make weight again.

Honestly though, I hate all this weight cutting bullshit, 200lbs guys fighting on the 185lbs division and so on. Just have the weigh ins one hour before the fight and have guys fight at their real walk around weight. I understand a guy whose walk around weight is 1 or 2 lbs over a class limit and wants to lose it but more than that is too much. I have a lot more respect for someone who fights at his real weight than guys who go down one or even two weight classes to fight smaller opponents.

One of the reasons why Frankie Edgar is my favorite fighter. He probably walked around at 155 when he fought in that weight class and now he probably only cuts more or less 10 pounds. Heck Kelvin Gastelum is performing much better in a higher weigh class.

I find myself oddly attracted to the awkward Megan Anderson. At 6 feet tall and a professional cage fight, she is far from "feminine".

RE: Any of you guys MMA fans?
Nothing on Romero vs Whittaker? Christ - Amazing fight. Pure art. Romero did nothing the first two rounds, dropped Whittaker in the third and again in the fifth.

There is a lot of talk about Romero winning - I don't know what fight they were watching. I think the contention is coming from RD four which Whittaker clearly controlled for 4.5min. Romero's spurt in the last 20 seconds wasn't nearly enough to win the round.

I can kind of see an argument for a 10-8 in the fifth, but Whittaker was still landing. It wasn't pure domination like a Condit v Rory 3rd round. As for the third, that definitely wasn't a 10-8. Whittaker landed some very heavy, very clean elbows and kicks which stunned Romero. The right man won.

I say bring on a trilogy - These are clearly the best two MW's - I do feel for Romero because he should have been champion instead of GSP. If Bisping had of faced Romero after winning the belt, he would have been KO'd in the first round and GSP wouldn't have even contemplated a move to MW.

I could watch Whittaker vs Yoel fight another 10 times. But I doubt we will see that fight for awhile.

Interesting to see who Whittaker fights next.

Next UFC , 226 is insane...

I really, REALLY hate how Dana has circlejerked Romero. I respect Rob Whitaker, though. He's got a lot going for him.

He's a champion hailing from a sports-crazed nation and he can also get in on the Mark Hunt crowd due to his mixed heritage. The best part is that he's very young, so baring any big injuries he could be a big cash cow for the UFC.

I wish Romero had won so we could get a super trilogy. I hope that Romero can climb back up and fight Whitaker and get the belt at least one time before retiring.

That'd be quite a set of heads on Romero's shelf. Not to mention, this guy is nearly 40 and still collecting skulls for the throne. If he grabbed the middleweight belt, defended it and then rode off into the sunset, that'd be quite an accomplishment for a former Olympian.

I will be checking my PMs weekly, so you can catch me there. I will not be posting.

I luuv Yoel. He's almost like a superhero. Before facing Whittaker (The first time) he'd already earned his title shot. He got screwed over by #13 Dan Henderson getting a title shot, then GSP getting a title shot. As much as I like Bisping's banter, Romero was caving his head in one way or another.

But I'm with you, I'd love to see Romero get another crack. Time's definitely not on his side though.

I don't see Yoel beating Whittaker anytime soon. Father time is not on his side. If the champ was any other person I could see Yoel beating everyone else in the division.

Yoel came close. I think he can crack Whitty's skull at least once. It isn't guaranteed, but if anyone has a chance of making Whitty's chin cave, I'd give it to Romero.

I hope he gets 1 more title shot. Personally, I think Dana has been fucking him over intentionally since he doesn't want Whitaker to lose too early in his championship. I doubt Romero will be allowed to get close to Whitaker again. Dana is a snake like that.

^The other poor guy who got fucked over was Mousasi. He well and truly earned a title shot after beating Weidman.

He was another casualty of GSP skipping the line to capitalise on a weak champ. There's a strong argument that Mousasi is actually the worst style match up for Whittaker. As much as Whittaker's my boy, Mousasi is a superior striker in a fight which would likely remain on the feet.

I guess we will never know now he's in Bellataor.

I hope they get the Mousasi Vs McDonald fight sorted.

Overeem is not a draw.
CM Punk is -- with all his WWE fans.

It's true, CM Punk is a bigger draw than Overeem.
But giving CM Punk not one, but two chances on the main card is a slap in the face to all the athletes that busted their ass for years, fighting for peanuts in little bullshit organizations to get a shot in the UFC.

CM Punk has zero athletic background. Putting him into the ring is no different than saying "Hey, Tom Cruise wants to fight, he's been doing his own stunts for a while, let's give him some time to train and book it. He has a huge fanbase!"

After his first fight with a legit fighter in Mickey Gall, they matched him up with another bum who also got destroyed by Gall. And he STILL got destroyed, still offered up no competition. And he was on the main card?! It's clownshow theatrics, and it hurts the sport.

Compare CM Punk with Brock Lesnar. Lesnar is a world class athlete with a wrestling background, one of the cornerstone styles of MMA. It makes sense to combine Lesnar's freakish athleticism, wrestling credentials, and celebrity to book him in the UFC. Sure enough, Lesnar became the world champion at heavyweight. You can argue the division was weak at the time, but the point still stands: he beat and competed with world class fighters.

CM Punk can't even compete with a nobody...

It was an experiment. OK a failed one. The last fight card bombed with the viewers. That is defo the last of him we see in the UFC. Well done CM punk, bucket list completed. Let's move on.

I hope they get Dave Bautista to do an MMA fight. There was a story going around about how he fucked up a world-class kickboxer in a barfight. He beat the guy so bad that the guy actually apologized for starting the fight.

He has done an amateur fight against an overweight, old white dude. Should be a video of it somewhere. He actually won, opponent claimed illegal blows to the back of the head. Again looked like a bucket list move. Doubt we will see him in another fight, he's actually doing well for himself as an actor - Guardians / Avengers / Bladerunner ... He's not short on acting work.
