I'm not advocating for mob violence (such as the Khabib incident.) I am 100% against the Khabib incident, which should have ended when Khabib made McGregor his bitch.

Went out last night and saw the fight, had a bit of fun after it too.

My biggest takeaway from the fight itself is that Khabib defeated Conor not just inside the Octagon but outside of it. For the longest time it was Conor was the DGAF alpha male UFC bad boy who the law is always after. Now Khabib wrecks McGregor (and that fight was never even close) and then scares his camp while having that same DGAF attitude. You have Chael and Dana getting on Khabib for being disrespectful, classless and scary because of his antics but this actually fuels his reputation for the long term.

Khabib not only beat Conor, he shattered his image and took his reputation right from under him. Now Conor has to be the victim that runs to the law and Dana White in order to seek justice which is the least Conor McGregor thing you can think of.

The psychology behind Khabib's actions is worth discussing because I don't think he did in the rush of the moment, he did to beat McGregor inside and destroy him outside of the Octagon which I think he successfully did.

Khabib has effectively made McGregor and his camp a bunch of victims which is the last thing they would want to be seen as. The guy is truly underrated for his mind games, I want to know what he was saying to McGregor inside of the ring as he was beating his face in.

Thank you, that is exactly what I think and that’s why I respect Khabib, the shit that happened wasn’t fake. I think in the pre fight meeting he said to McGregor something like: « you come for money, I come for honor ».

The guy is extremely proud, Dana White used him at some point because McGregor and his opponent asked too much money for a fight, Dana then said « ok then Khabib will fight instead », he sent a contract to Khabib and finally McGregor accepted to fight for less money and his opponent too.
As a compensation Dana proposed Khabib to still pay him 100,000usd, Khabib answered «instead of the compensation, send me the best fighter you have ». This guy ain’t faking, he has this attitude from ancient times where insulting a mom can get you killed.

I am afraid he will be completely overwhelmed by the mediatic circus that happened at the end of the fight ( and that he is responsible of).

Connor fucked up by talking shit about this mans religion, family and country. I know it's done for business and to hype up the entire fight, there's a huge amount of money on the line, and the rivalry skyrockets the viewer numbers. Connor puts on this persona as the cocky loudmouthed guy that is unstoppable, and it suits him, I find the guy funny, a great fighter, and also an entertainer. But at the same time, he crossed the line. It seems unprofessional to me the things he said, sounded very personal and disrespectful. Again, don't get me wrong it's good, it created this villain vs hero storyline where fans were involved like never before. When you're a big figure in the sport and insult a whole nation, you got to be ready to back it up if you don't want your reputation tarnished.

I enjoyed the fight, it was entertaining. Connor got into this unprepared in my opinion. He picked his comeback fight badly, money talked big time and he saw an opportunity. I genuinely don't think Connor got into this thinking he would win as easily as he preached he would. He's not hungry like previously in his career, fame, and money got to him and he got way too comfortable. 80% of the arena was Irish/Connor fans, what does that tell you?

Khabib is a monster, he's the underdog, he's hungry, he was 26-0 and undisputed coming into this fight (yeah sure he hadn't fought any big names, but he was rising so fast). He had everything to fight for, his career, future, and a nation of (144 million Russians) while Connor had nothing comparable to fight for. He had no motivation. He would get back home to his wife and kid with a shit ton of money and live the luxurious life all over again. I don't understand guys that dodge others and stay inactive for months/years waiting for the chance of fighting for the belt. For example Belfort was almost two years whitout fighting since he won to Rich Franklin in 2009, waiting for his chance to fight Anderson Silva, while dodging other big fights that he could have made some money along the way, only to get that highlight crane kick on the face early in the fight..
