The "outrage" shown by the Icelandic media and some of the population definitely has a racial element to it. If a tall, blond, blue eyed clean cut man had written a book detailing his slaying of the local lizards, the reaction would have been way less muted, with possibly some element of back-slapping thrown in.

I'm sure the fact that a middle eastern looking bearded guy, who is supposedly low on the projected totem pole of desirability, has ravished the "most genetically pure" women on earth is raising the hackles of many of the closet racists out there. Too bad for them.

The reaction is also typical of the feminist movement towards "game" and its applicability in obtaining what a man really wants.

In all, if this publicity raises Roosh's book sales, it will be a happy outcome. I for one would definitely propose that Roosh raises the price of "Bang Iceland", especially when the IP address of the person making the purchase is seen to come from Iceland.

p.s. I'm sure that the local Icelandic men are sitting back in their dachas, sipping Brennevin and laughing their guts out.

You're wrong about the racial element playing a part in this. It was never brought up or even hinted at anywhere. Being non-Icelandic is enough. I doubt it would have been any different if he was a blue-eyed Swede. It's a predictable combination of feminist outrage, white-knighting and news spreading fast in a small country. Visir is easily read by 30%+ of the population and Iceland has one of the highest penetrations of Facebook use in the world so news spreads quickly.

There's a long history of this kind of outrage in Iceland. Icelandair once ran ad campaigns in London and other cities encouraging men to come to Iceland suggesting they'd get laid easily. This triggered massive feminist outrage; a lot of commenters are bringing that up in reference to Bang Iceland.

Anyone who has been out on the weekend in Reykjavik immediately recognises that what Roosh is saying is mostly true. The criticisms are mainly about rationalising away at the margins using the usual straw men.

Icelanders are very concerned about what foreigners think of them. That's the one thing I was surprised by in Bang Iceland: that the girls didn't seem to give a shit about what Roosh thought of the country. They take a lot of pride in their international image of being a unique, creative, educated and prosperous nation. Any validation of this kind of self-image by international media is immediately trumpeted everywhere. Conversely any criticism is quickly met by outrage. In a small nation individuals are much more personally invested in the country's reputation.

There's a running joke there that the only question visitors ever get asked is "How do you like Iceland?" Roosh is right that people usually don't give a fuck about where you're from or what your background is. If you're outside social circles there you don't count; great for one-night stands, less so for getting to know people.

Greenland is not Scandinavia... Iceland is 100% Scandinavian as it gets. The vast, vast majority of Icelanders are descended from Norwegians. You want a genetic description, this is it.

And they are Scandinavian in another sense, a cultural one... for some reason, like the rest of Scandinavia, all the descendants of one of the toughest European cultures all turned out to be super-wusses (but more so in their opinions than in their actions - in reality I think Scandinavian men are about as beta/alpha as Americans, on average). It's nitpicking but Scandinavia is a geographic description that doesn't include Iceland and Finland. Nordic is the cultural one that covers Scandinavia plus Finland and Iceland.

But you've got the right idea: Iceland is Nordic and was ruled by Norway and then by Denmark for most of its history until 1945. The culture has more in common with Sweden / Norway / Denmark than anywhere else.

The main difference is that Icelanders are less communal minded and more individualist / family oriented than the other Nordic countries. This may be due to its tougher history; Iceland only started to rise out of poverty in the 1960s and has had right-wing governments for 80% or more of the time since independence. For a long time peoples' main social safety net was their extended family, not the state. Right-wing dominance was only reversed a few years ago after the economic meltdown discredited the old potentates. In contrast, the post-war politics of the other Nordic countries have been more dominated by social democratic parties.

I would be very careful about going back to Iceland, even with an MMA trained body guard. I wouldn't put it past an Icelandic girl who has heard about you to try to fuck you so that she can claim that you "isolated" her and raped her. Since you've already published a "rape guide" to Iceland it would be an open and shut case there. Since its a small town you would have a tough time flying out without someone catching you, and since its an island you'd have a long way to swim.

I was both amazed and amused with the reactions in Iceland!

Roosh: You did a great job describing what you have experienced there and the point is they probably know it (in such a small town it would be virtually impossible not to see what you're talking about). They may like it or dislike it, give other perspectives, have different points of view, this is all OK. But what strikes me here is the undertone of denial and condemnation. They are bashing someone who just formed an opinion based on empirical evidence. It all sounds like a witch-hunt.

You hit a sensitive nerve. I suspect these reactions come from a peculiar Politically Correct behavioral corset. To openly comment certain traits you clearly noticed from first-hand experience was for them seemingly "incorrect" or shook their sense of how they believe they ought to be or how they want to be perceived by outsiders.

These people seem to take themselves very seriously, too seriously. From what I understand, I don't see them easily dropping this heavy PC armour, which they probably have to carry throughout their lives, if they are sober or less than wasted. I sort of miss the fun part, the party atmosphere, a laid-back environment that (at least for me -let me stress this-) goes along with hitting on beautiful women.
