An American man willing to throw his material life away for a cause he believes in is so far outside the realm of possibility in our atheist culture that it must be hamstered it away as being abnormal*.

It's in a similar vein to how westerners can never understand how someone could go on a suicide mission. Or why a religious follower would choose death rather than denouncing their faith.

Another similar example is the building of Notre Dame. The thing took nearly 200 years to fully complete. I'm doubtful many men today would break their back on a project when they knew they would never see the end result.

Something else to keep an eye on is that the authorities are always going to say "we got the guy" within hours if not a day when these kind of shootings happen because even if the real killer is still on the loose it's extremely important for those authorities to present the idea that doing something like this is a one way ticket to death or a lifetime of prison.

I've speculated in another thread that they do the same thing with high stakes robberies. They always manage an arrest within hours but I'd bet fair money that the ones they arrest are not always the ones that committed the robbery. It simply allows them the time they need to go after the actual perp who they might quietly arrest later or never find at all. But for public consumption there's nothing more important than perpetuating the myth that the cops catch the bad guy same-day as it prevents other guys of a like mind from thinking they can do the crime without doing the time.

Remember how badly Dorner threw that nonsense out of the window?

These events are not always as cut and dried as they seem.
